McAllister, City Clerk Otoe Phillips, City Attorney Price Dickson, City Eng E. T. Brown, Aldermen; Bronson, Carter, M)QjX Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker Absent; Alderman Gregory. Minutes of the regular meeting held March 14,1938, were read and approved. Bills; The following bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman of the Auditing Committee; Coles Cafe $19.55, Bohe Gro. $1.64, C. S. Duggans $5.50, W. S. Duggans &13.31, Lyle Allen $2.50, Ben Porter 617.50, Emmett Boyd $9.25, Bad Collins 12.00, M. S. Gabbard $4.34, A. F. Shumate $;20.00, Bill Wilcox 12.00, The Automotive 13.93. Alderman Bronson moved that the bills be allowed as approveand the dlerk be instructed to draw warrants for same upon the proper funds. The motion was seconded by Alderman Sanders and carried unanimously. Reports; The following reports for the month of February were read in their entirety by the Clerk Clyde Walters as Fire Chief and as Building Inspector, J. C. Massie as Police Judge, Earl Ha,��d�s Acting Chief of Police, Otoe Phillips as City Collector and as City Clerk. Aldermr�"lmoved that the reports be received and filed. Alderman Hosford seconded the motion which carried unanimously and the Mayor so declared. .The matter of collecting delinquent dog tax. was discussed, as Mr. Shelley will `e unah to collect same. Alderman Sanders moved that the Mayor and the Acting Chief of Police attend to this matter. The motion was seconded by Alderman Hosford and received the unanimous vote of the Council. Rental of Old Airport for the balance of 1938 was discussed. Alderman Sanders made a mo tion that Henry Walker be rented the Old Airport to December 31st for the sum of $75.00 subject to possible sale, rent to be considered if sold. The mo- tion was seconded by Alderman Hosford and carried unanimously and the Mayor declared the Council in regular session. Alderman Bronson moved that the Council adjourn to meet at 7 o'clock next meeting night Alderman Shook seconded the motion which carried and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned. Shumate &20.00, Bill Wilcox $12.00. Alderman Carter moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk Be instructed to draw warrants for same upon the proper funds. The motion was seconded by Alderman Ucker and carried unanimously. Victor E. Russum of the County Election Commission appeared before the Council relative to expenses of the City General Election to be held April 5, 1938. He stated that $1050 per day was the legal charge XKdXX NX9%XYXAX for Judges and Clerks and asked the Council if they cared, to pay more. After discussion Alderman Ucker moved that the Judges and Clerks be paid &2.50 each for holding the City General Election April 5, 1938. Alderman Hosford seconded the motion which received the unanimous vote of the Council and the May or s.o declared. A petition-was'pr-esented protesting the use of an outside taxi cab call station in the vicinity of Reagan and Arkansas Avenue, signed by a number of property owners and res- idents. No action was taken. The report of Roy Nix as Sewer Service Collector for the month of February was read. Alderman Peal moved that the report be received and filed. Alderman Ucker seconded the motion. On the Clerk's calling the roll the following vote resulted; Ayes; Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook, and Ucker. Nays; None. The Mayor declared carried as there were 8 Ayes and no Nays. Street cleaning being under discussion Alderman Sanders moved that the Hotels be no- tified that after May lst, 1938, cars will not be allowed to park on the pavement be- tween the hours of 2 AM' and 6 AM. Alderman Peal seconded the motionl On the Clerk's calling the roll the following vote resulted; Ayes; Bronson, Gregory, Peal, Sanders. Nays; Carter, Hosford, Shook, Ucker. The vote resulting in a tie the Mayor voted Aye, thereby carrying the motion. Alderman Bronson moved that the bills -be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrani s for same upon the proper fund. Alderman Gregory seconded the motion which received the entire vote of the Council present and the Mayor so declared. A report of the City Water Plant was presented for March. Alderman Gregory moved that the report be received and filed. Alderman Peal seconded the motion which carried. A reduction in water .XX rates for sprinkling was discussed. No action was taken. Alderman Gregory moved that the Bill of $103.85 for holding City General Election April 5th, 1938, be allowed. Alderman Ucker seconded the motion which carried. Conditions at the City dump grouddwas discussed. Alderman Gregory moved that the Stre Committee investigate cdnditions at the city dump ground with power to act. Alderman Peal seconded the motion which carried unanimously. The matter of collecting rent by XM Commissioner J. A. Peterson in Vater Improvement District No. 2 was called to the attention of the Council. After discussion Alderman Sanders moved that the matter be referred to the Water Committee and the City Attorney Alderman Gregory seconded the motion which was duly passed by the Council. The matter of tires for City truck was brought to the attention of the Council by the Chairman of the Street Committee, Alderman Sanders;who read bids on 6 tires from a number ok companies. Alderman Hosford moved that the matter be referred to the Street Committee with power to act. Alderman Carter seconded the motion which received the unanimous vote of the Council present: A request from Evergreen Cemetery Assn asking something on concrete work done on [Nest side of University Street was presented. Alderman Sanders moved that $25.00 be allowed Alderman Hosford seconded the motion which carried unanimously.
