Brown, Ald- ermen Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook. Absent; Mayor A. D. Mc- Allister and Alderman Ucker. Alderman Gregor- moved that Alderman Sanders be elected Mayor pro tem to serve during Mayor McAllister's absence. Alderman Hosford seconded the motion which carried by the followinu.7vote,.Ayes ,_Bronson;, -Carter, Gregoryg Hosford, Peal, Shook. Nays; Sanders. Alderman Sanders w:- seated as Mayor pro tem. Minutes of the regular meetings held January the 3rd, 1938, and January 10th, 1938, were read and approved. ills; The following bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman of the Auditin Committee; Winkelman Print Shop $5.61, S. 'Sr. Bell Telephone Co. $58.49, Coles Cafe 93.55, N. W. Ark. Times $4.83, Emmett Boyd $10.25, Bill Hayes $5.50, Bud Collins $3.75, Ben Porter $17.50, Harper Brush Works $30.34, A. F. Shumate $20.00, Ear Hand $1.60, Ozark Gro Co. $$3.75, Alderman Bronson moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants for same upon the proper funds. Alderman Shook seconded the motion eth_ch carried unaninously. Alderman Gregory moved that the bill held over from last meeting for $25.00 for tires sold the Street Dept by the Fire Dept be reduced to $15.00 and allowed. Alderman Peal seconded the motion Which received the entire vote of the Council. The report of Roy Nix, Sewer Service Collector, covering the period from October, 1936, to October, 1937, was read by the Clerk. Alderman Gregory moved that. the report be re- ceived and filed. The motion was seconded by Alderman Peal and was duly passed by the Council. D. t,;. A len of the State Police Dept appeared before the Council urging the Council to pass an Ordinance giving the Police Judge ceeltain rights relative to State duties. City Attorney Price Dickson stated to the Council that the Police Judge is given the right or power by statute to act as Justice of the Peace. Alderman Gregory moved that the Cit Attorney so inform the Police Judge, Alderman Hosford seconded the motion which carried unanimously. A number of coal dealers were present asking the Council to pass an Ordinance regulati selling of coal and operation of coal ,yards. They were advised to agree as to desired regulations and to present same to XXh in writing to the Council. D. H. The matter of issuing free City car licenses was again discussed. Alderman Bronson made a motion that no free City car licenses be issued. Alderman Gregory seconded the motion'. On the Clerk's calling the roll the following vote resulted; Ayes; Bronson, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook, Nays; Carter. Absent and not voting; Ucker. The Mayor declared carried as there Were 6 Ayes and 1 Nay. A motion to adjourn made by Alderman Hosford and seconded by Alderman Sh6ok was duly passed by the Council and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned, . G Attest; Approved; CityUClerk. — — Mayor. ro- P rn Alderman Hosford of the Insurance Committee made a report as to the additional premium on pay roll liability as to rates etc. stating that classifications seemed to be regu- lar and recommending payment. Alderman Bronson moved that the report be accepted and the bill of $329.17 be paid. The motion was seconded by Alderman Peal and received the entire vote of the Council present. Ordinance An Ordinance was introduced by Alderman ?ronson entitled "An Ordinance prohibiting parking of certain motor vehicles in restricted zones, fixing penalties and for other purposes". The Clerk read the Ordinance the first time in its entirety. Alderman Ucker moved that the rules be suspended and the Ordinance be placed on its second reading. The motion was seconded by Alderman Carter and received the entire vote of the Council present. The Clerk then read the Ordinance the second time. After discussion the ordi- nance was left on its second reading. Fayetteville City Council met in regular session Monday, January 24, 1938. . Massie as Polios Judge, M. E. Hand as acting Chief of Police, Oto Officias:Phillips as City Collector and as City Clerk. Alderman Ucker moved that the reports be received and filed. The motion was seconded by Alderman Shook and was duly passed by the Council.
