J.W.MeGehee, City Attorney, Price Dickson, Present; City EngAneer, E.T.Brown, alderman: Bronson. Carter, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook add! Ucker. Absent; alderman Gregory. Minutes of the adjournedi session of January 3rd, were read and approved. The dollowing bills were presented, after their approval by alderman Peal, chairman of the auditing committee: Jackson Cafe $7.80, Salusbury General Shop $$1.00, Ark.Neatern Bills; Coo $ 85.170 R.C.Wray $$ 53.85, North West Ark. Times $10.920 Eureka Fire Hose Division of U.S.Rubber Co. $1274.00, Ark. Western Gas Co. $$18x'.73, S.W.Gas & Electric Co. $337.5 $19.42,and $$11.06, Lewis Bros Co.$2.121 Fayetteville Lumber & Cement Co:'134,3621tewis Bros Co. $1.34, Ben Porter $17.50, Elmer Boyd $$10.000 Bud Collins $$10.00, Sanford and Son $1.63, AF.Shumate, $20.000 and Willie Wilcox, $12.00. Alderman Sanders made a mo— tion that the bills be allowed,as approved, seconded by alderman Bronson, which was duly passed by the Council. Alderman Hosford made a motion that a resolution, be drawn, designating parking a spaces for five cars for the two local Taxi Companies, three o these spaces for eachq be at the present headquarters of the Companies and two each wfttl be on East Street, jus off the Square. alderman Peal seconded the motion* which received the unanimous vote of all members of the Uouncil, present. Nays•; Sanders and Ucker.-and the Mayor declared carried, as.there were SAyes, and 2 Na 'Olt Letters were read from Mrs. B,J.Dunn and H.O.Davis „ Submitting prices on their houses and lots, asrpossible sites for a Market place and Rest R000m; alderman Bronson made amotion thatthe letters be received and filed, seconded by alderman Peal , which was duly passed by the Council. An inquiry from the.American Legion as to -the posssible sale of the Garment Fact by the City, was presented by the'Mayor, alderman Sanders made a motion that the 3Fhs matter be referred to the Water Committtee for recommedation, seconded by alderman Pea which was duly passed by the.Counail. A letter was read from the Community Chest, expressing appreciation for use of the Council Chambers as headquarters during the Chest drive. A telegram from U.S.Senatore John E.Miller was read, calling attention to a publ hearing to be held at Harrdson, Ark.January, 10th, by U.S.District Engineer, seeking in formation on extent of flood damage below reservoir sdtes , on White River and its trib utaries, and amount -of electric power that might be consumed by this community, if powe is developed at the proposed dams.and suggesting that a representative be sent -for the hearing. No action was taken by the Council. There being no further business, Alderman Shook moved to adjourn, seconded by alderman Bronson,which was rggularly passed by the Council. and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned. Fayetteville City Council met in regular sees,ion Monday, January 16th, 1939, Present: Mayor, A.D.McAllister, City Clerk, J.W.McGehee, City Attorney, Price Dickson, City Engineer, E.T.Brown,aldermen; Bronson, Carter, -Gregory, Hosford, Peal,Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Minutes of the regular session of January 9th, were read and approved. The following bills were presented after their approval by aldermanPeal, chairman of the auditing committee: Jackson Cafe $7.65, J.Shelley $3.50, H.L.Tuck super service $24. and $4.140 Ben Porter $17.50, Elmer Boyd $11.00, Bud Collins $11.00, A.F,Shumate $20.00, and Willie Wilcox $12.00. Alderman Udker made a motion that the bills be allowed,as approved, seconded by alderman Carter, which was duly passed by the Council. The Mayor presented the request of J.W.Cohea for a Sewer on Buchanan ave. Alderman Gregory made a motion that the sewer committee confer with the commissioners of -Sewer Improvement XhXXX District; Noel, to see if a plan can be worked out.for the construdtion of this sewerli line, also to include one on Storer Ave, seconded by alder man Hosford, which received the unanimous vote of the Council, Alderman Ucker introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: R ES'0INUT ION E IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNUILof Fayetteville, rkansas, that A.D,MCAllister"• Mayor of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas and J.W.McGehee City Clerk.. e and they are hereby authorized and directed, tosign the name of said Ciby to that certain agreement be tween the City of Fayetteville and the Arkansas State Highway Commission relative to the maintenance of Highway Noe45 passed and adopted the. /Zwday of January 1939, by th Council. Alderman Shook seco=need the motion for the adoption of this Resolution „ and u the roll call by the Clerk, the following vote resulted: Ayes: Bronson-; Carter,Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Nays None , and the Mayor declared carried, as there were 8 Ayes and no nays.
