Fayetteville City Council met in regular session Monday August 16,1937.
and Bronson.
Present. Mayor A. D. McAllister,Aldermen: Carter, Hosford, Peel,Sanders,-as=t Ucker. Absent:
. City Clerk Otoe Phillips, City Engineer C. E. Pierce, City Attorney Price Dickson;
Aldermen: X15752 DX, Gregory and Shook.
After roll call, Alderman Ucker acting as Clerk of the session, Alderman Sanders
made a motion which wss seconded by Alderman Hosford that the Council adjourn to
meet Tuesday August 17,1937 8:00 P. M. This motion received the unanimous vote of the
Council and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned.

Aldermen: Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Absent:
City Clerk Otoe Phillips,
Alderman Bronson acting as clerk of the session, the minutes of regular meeting
August 9, and adjourned session August 13th, were read and approved.
Bills: The following bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman of
the Auditing Committee:Southwest Bell Telephone Co. x^55.05; Jackson Cafe 4;1.95; Vickers'
Laundry $.69; Bossmyer-McBride $3.08; George Taylor $5.63; Salsbury General Shop $1,00,
H. W. Armstrong 01.05; Phillips Motor Co. $5.62;Bossmyer-McBride $31.13; Fay Kennedy
?8.00; Emmett Boyd $10.00; Will Morris $4.00; Jas Bohanan �?4.00; Ben Porter 4517.50;
k. F. Shumate 5?20.00. Alderman Bronson moved that the bills be allowed as approved and
the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants upon the proper funds in payment of same.
This motion was seconded by Alderman Shook and xxx duly passed by the Council.
Bldg J. 17, Cohea and Earl Bird appeared before the Council with request that fire strips
Code be eliminated from certain type of houses as per plat exhibited.
Revisio :
Aldeman Shook made a motion which was seconded by Alderman Peal that a resolution
passed Yay 24,1937 'regarding fire stops in residence buildings be rescinded. Unon the
question being put before the Council the follo:ring vote resulted: Ayes:xxxxxxxx,!:
Bronson,.Gregory, hosf ord, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Nays: jxxxxxxx:Carter,., The
Mayor declared carried as there were seven dyes and one Nay.
Alderman Sanders introduced a resolution and moved its adoption that in residential
type construction where the building is built of stud walls where separate studs Ars
are used for each story, with one bottom plate and a double top plate of the same size
timbers as the studs that are used, fire stops as called for in Section 23 of the

being put before the Council resulted in the following.vote: Ayes: Bronson, Gregory,
Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Ayes: Carter. The Mayor declared carried as
there were seven Ayes L.nd one Nay.
,P ire Alderman Gregory introduced an Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance to extend the Fire
Zone Zone of the City of Fayetteville" This ordinance was read the first time in its
t Inclus- entirety by the Clerk. Alderman Ucker moved that the rules be suspended and the
ion: Ordinance ;laced on its second reading. This motion was seconded by Alderman Peal and
received the unanimous vote of the Council. Alderman Sanders then moved that the rules
be further'suspended and the Ordinance placed on its third and final reading. Alderman
Shook seconded this motion and upon the question being put before the Council the
following vote resulted: Ayes: x'rxxxxxxt Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, band.er�,
Shook and Ucker. Nays: None. The liayor declared the Ordinance-passed�as`there were,
eight, -Ayes and no Nays.
ORDINANCE NUMBER 799,
An Ordinance to be entitled "An Ordinance to extend the Fire Zone of the City of
Fayetteville, Arkansas". Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville
Arkansas:
SECTION l.: That;the following described real estate is hereby included in the fire
zone of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas: beg inning at the Northeast corner of Lot 2,
Block 4 of the Original,Town (now City) of Fayetteville and running thence South 160
feet;thence due Nest to the East line of Locust street;thence North to the South line
of Dickson street;thence East to the place of beginning.
SECTION 2: All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed and the creation of this land into a Fire Zone being necessEry for the peace,
health and safety and more particularly for the prevention of fire hazards, an emergen-
cy is hereby declared, and this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from
and after its passage, approval and publication.

be voted separately. Upon this motion being put before the Council, the following
