D., McAllister, City Clerk Otoe Phillips,City Attorney Price Dickson, City Engineer C.•E. Pierce. Aldermen: Bronson, Carter, GreFory,Hosford, Pea71, Sanders,Shook and Ucker. Bills: Wall side- walk - Minutes of the previous meeting held !,ionday August 2,1937 were read =nd approved. Woolworth Co. $.31; Northwest Arkan- sas Times $$6.08; Ben Porter 5$17.50; Jas 8ohanan $10.00; Will Morris $x6.00; Emmett Boyd $$10.00; A. F. Shumate $$20.00; Heerwagen Bros. 12.25; Red Cross Drug Store 0,37. Alderman Ucker moved that the bills be allowed as ?.,proved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants upon the proper funds in payment of same. This motion was seconded by Alderman Hosford and was duly passed by the Council and the Mayor so declared. The:•matter of sidewalk on Wall Street was again brought up for discussion. Alderman Bronson moved that this matter be deferred until Monday August 16,1937, at which time definite action would be taken, seconded by Alderman Peal, and carried by a unanimous vote of the Council. Gulf The Gulf Refining Company asked permission to remove their building from Municipal Air Refirm- port grounds,original contract on gasoline remaining unchanged. Alderman Gregory moved ing Co. thgt this request be granted, seconded by Alderman Carter and duly passed by the house: Council. Fire F. P. $arle appeared before the Council relative to erecting a building on the 3)uth side of Dickson street, in Block 4, Original Town, stating that his plans were already Zone- made before he found out that the propertyr was in a residential district, and had to be Earrle. advertised as to objections to same for a certain length of time. After discussion, Alderman Sanders moved that the North end of Block 4, Original Town, between Church and Locust approximately 160 feet, be placed in the Fire Zone, and that the Ordinance Com- mittee be instructed to draw up an Ordinance to this effect. This motion was seconded by Alderman Hosford, and received the unanimous vote of the Council. Oakland J. F. Parks qpeared before the Council, asking that a sidewalk be put in on East side o: side- Oakland Ave., affecting Hughes and Tri Delt fraternity property. Alderman Bronson walk; moved that this matter be referred to a Committee of three. TIJis motion was seconded by Alderman Sanders and duly passed by the Council. The Mayor then appointed the Street Committee to act as this Committee. The Council then listened to a discussion of car testing equipment by representatives of the t7eaver., Bear and Bendix Companies. No action taken. Alderman Bronson moved that the Council adjourn subject.to'call of the Mayor. Attest: Approved: City Clerk Mayor Fayetteville City Council met in adjourned sessiori Friday August 13;1937.' Present:IFayor S. D.McAllister, City Engineer C. E. Pierce. Aldermen Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, 'handers, Shook and Ucker. Absent: City Clerk Otoe Phillips, and City Attorney Price Dickson. Upon motion of Alderman Sanders seconded by Alderman Hosford and carried unanimously, Alderman Bronson acted as Clerk of the session. Motor Alder"an Ucker moved that the Building Ordinance be changed to read "That any building testing or portion thereof which is designed, built, rented, leased let, or hired out or occ•upi- equip- ed, or which is occupied as a house or residence by three or more families living ment: independent of each other shall be called an apartment. This motion was seconded by , Alderman Sanders. On the question being put before the Council, the following vote resulted: Ayes: Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosf ord,Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Nays: None. The Mayor declared carried as there were eight Ayes and no Nays. Alderman Carter made a motion which was seconded by Ald. Gregory that the report of the Committee on purchase of Iv;otor Testing equipment be received and filed. This motion re- ceived the unanimous vote of the Council. for (Alderman Gregory moved that the purchase of motor testing equipment be deferred for estin urther study. This motion was seconded by Alderman Peal and received the unanimous equipmnvote of the Council. Alderman Sanders moved that a new Committee of three be appointee' to make a�e� on purchase of motor testing equipment. This motion was seconded by Aldermah Ucker, and upon the vmotion being put before the Council resulted in the following vote: Ayes: Carte Gregory,osford, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. DTays: Bronson. The Idayor declared carried/is there were seven Ayes and one Nay.
