HomeMy WebLinkAbout1937-07-12 Minutes29e Fayetteville City Council met in regular session. Monday, July 12th, 1937. Present; Mayor A. D. IvtcAllister, City Clerk Otoe Phillips. City Attorney trice Dickson, Alder- men Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Absent; City Engineer C. E. Pierce. Minutes of the regular meeting held July 6th, 1937, were read and approved. Bills; The following bills were presented after theivr approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman of the Auditing Committee; Lewis Bros Co. $'400.07, Jackson Cafe $'19.15, Mrs C. B. Paddock $'10.00, University of Arkansas $6.00, Cravens & Co. .,$,'108.86, Eason & Co. $'120.75, Crescent Drug Store $0.76; Bohe Gro. $3.46, Ozark Gro. Co. $6.78, Jas Bohannon $12.00, Ben Porter $'17.50, Salsbury General Shop $0.35, H. C. Trail x}10.00, Heerwagen Bros. $1.00 „A. F. Shumate $22.50. Alderman Sanders moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants for same upon the proper funds. The motion was seconded by alderman Hosford and received the unanimous vote of the Council. Reports The reports of :seting Police Judge W. M. Fishback, =acting Police Chief Earl Hand and f The reports of Otoe Phillirs as City Clerk and as City Collector were presented. Clerk & udge, Alderman Gregory moved that the reports be received and filed. Alderman. Peal seconded Collect the motion which received the unanimous vote of the Council and the Mayor so declared. The matter of the Arkansas Municipal League meeting to be held in Little Rock July 15th and 16th was discussed. It was suggested that the Mayor, City Clerk and City Attorney, with a Committeeof three appointed by the iiayor attend, with special refer- ence to investigating Automobile Inspecting Stations. Alderman Sanders put this in the form of a motion which was seconded by Alderman Peal and carried unanimously. The Mayor named as this Committee Ucker, Sanders and Gregory. No further business Alderman Bronson moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Alderman Carter and duly passed by the Council and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned. Attest; C� C ityw Cler.. Alderaian Peal seconded the motion which received the hief & unanimous vote of the Council and the Mayor so declared. ldg Ins - Alderman Ucker made a motion that the price on Motor Vehicles purchased after July 1st, Reduce or from new residents moving to the City be reduced 50/. This motion was seconded by tdotor- AldermanYA91tosford and received the unanimous vote of the Council. Vehicle License: Alderman Bronson introduced an ordinance entitled " An Ordinance to regulate the keepin of hogs,cattle, horses, mules, goats, ind fowls within the corporate limits of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and for other purposes". The Clerk read the Ordinance the first time in its entirety. Alderman Sanders moved that the rules be suspended and the ordinance placed on its second reading. alderman Carter seconded the motion which received the entire vote of the Council. The Clerk then read the Ordinance the second ealth time. Alderman Ucker moved that the rules be further suspended and the Ordinance be rdinance:placed on its third and finalreading. Alderman Hosford seconded the motion which received the unanimous voteo the Council. The Clerk then read the Ordinance the third and final time. The Mayor put the question : "Shall the Ordinance pass". On the Clerk's calling the roll, the following vote resulted: Ayes: Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook, and Ucker. Nays: None. The Mayor declared the Ordinance passed as there were 8 Ayes and no Nays. ORDINANCE N6. 798, An Ordinance to be entitled " An Ordinance to regulate the keeping of Hogs, C ttle, Hordes, Mules, Goats and Fowls within the Corporate limits of the City of Fayetteville, Ark.andl for other purposes"* e it ordained by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas: ' Section one: That hereafter it shall be unlawful for any person, persons, firm or cornor-t ion to keep any pig or swine of any kind or description whatsoever within the corporate limits of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Section two: Not more than two c-ittle, and their increase up to the age of three months shahIle kept on any one City lot riithin the corporate limits of the City of Fa yettevil Arkansas,unless a minimum of one-half acre of space be provided each addtional cow. Section three:That hereafter it shall be unlawful to permit any cattle or horses to run at—large or graze upon any of the streets or alleys within the- corporate limits of said City of Fayetteville, Arkansas.
