HomeMy WebLinkAbout1937-06-14 Minutes294 discussion, Alderman Gregory moved that the City have a full page notice of the formal opening bf the new City Administration Building June 11, with pictures of the interior and exterior put in the Fayetteville Daily Democrat at a cost of $50.00. This motion was seconded by Alderman Bronson. On the Clerk's calling the roll, the following vote resulted: Ayes: Bronson, Gregory; Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Nays:Carter The Mayor declared carried as there were seven ayes and one nay. Alderman Sanders moved that the Building Committee have charge of the arrangements for opening of the now City Administration Building on June 11th. The motdlon was seconded by Alderman Ucker and on the question being put before the Council, the following vote resulted. -Ayes: Bronson, Peal, Sanders,Shook and Ucker. Nays: Carter, Gregory and Hosford. The Mayor declared carried as there were five ayes and three nays. No further business, Alderman Ucker moved to adjourn. Ewing Shelton $100.00, Sunflower Lines $1.85, and the Mayor declared the Porter Mirror & Glass Co. $605.99, Ben Porter $17.50, Ben Porter pll.50, Jas Bohannon 12.00, Fay Kennedy $13.50, Ralph Kane $16,50, Ross Seasley6.50, Standard Oil Co. .8122.50, 16.52, Fayetteville Lbr & Cement Co. $45.24, A. F. Shumate Newt Hinkle $25.00, Fayetteville Lbe & Cement Co. $2,605.83. (See second paragraph below for continuation of Bills ) Morgan F. L. Morgan of the Fay Gas & Elec Co, appeared before the Council exhibiting some with electrical appliances necessary to be used in compliance with a new electrical code. Electrical lderman Sanders moved that the Ordinance Committee investigate this matter and report Appli_ next meeting night. Alderman Hodford seconded the motion which carried unanimously. Alderman Bronson moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructe to draw warrants for same upon the proper funds. The motion was seconded by Alderman Carter and earried:unanirriously and the Mayor so declared. Testing The matter of Testing Station for cars to be used on the Highways of the State was °tatian: brought toX the attention of the Council by bhe Mayor, this to be County wide and handled by the City. After discussion Alderman Carter moved that the matter be referred to the Street Committee. Alderman Uregory seconded the motion. On the Clerk's calling Y,.N.iff the roll the following vote resulted; Ayes; Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal Shook and Ucker. Nays; Sanders. The Mayor declared carried as there were 7 Ayes and 1 Nay . Eldo The request of Eldo Cole for two weeks vacation was presented to the Council. After Cole's discussion Alderman Bronson moved that Eldo Cole be given two weeks vacation with pay. Alderman Sanders seconded the motion. On the question being put.before the Council the Vacation: following vote reseulted; Ayes; Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, and Shook. Nays; Ucker. The Mayor declared carried as there were 7 Ayes and 1 Nay, Aldermen Hosford and Ucker of the Insurance Committee gave their findings as to the different forms bf Insurance, clauses etc XKd_X4h=Lh?�i. The matter was left to the Committee in charge. Alderman Peal made a motion that a letter of thanks be sent to the donors of flowers for the City Administration Building opening. Alderman Shook seconded the motion which received the entire vote of the Council. No further business Alderman Sanders moved to adjourn.
