Fayetteville City Council met in regular session Monday May 31st,1937.
Present: Mayor A. D.'McAllister, City Clerk Otoe Phillips, City Attorney Price Dickson.
Aldermen Bronson, Carter,Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Absent:
City Engineer C. E. Pierce.
Minutes of the previous meeting May 24, were read and approved.
Bills: The following bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman

that the. bills be allowed as approved and the clerk be instructed to draw warrants
for same upon the proper funds. This motion was seconded by Alderman Shook and
carried unanimously and the L1ayor so declared.
West Spg Final report of ,Vest Spring Street Improvement District No.l showing a balance on
Imp. Dis hand of $$4.00 to be turned over to the City of Fayetteville was read. Alderman Ucker
No.l moved that the report be received and filed, that the $4.00 be placed to the credit
of Street i"und, and that the Commissioners of said District be discharged; seconded
by Alderman Gregory and carried unanimously.
Petition) A petititon with several signers was read suggesting certain revisions in the Build -
Bldg Cod ing Code and for a change in the building Inspector. .Alderman Gregory moved that
& I the petition be received and referred to the Ordinance Committee, seconded by
Bldg Insp, Alderman Carter and. carried unanimously, and the Mayor so declar&d.
Jerpe Prof. L C. Price, Engineer University of Arkansas, appeared before the Council at
Dairy the request of the Committee appointed, and stated that he had examined into the
conditiol conditions existing at the Jerpe Dairy Products Corporation plant, and that they
were experimenting with correcting conditions existing there. The Committee was
continued.
Police The matter of vacations for Police Department was brought up. Alderman Hosford
vacations: moved that the membe,.s of the police department be allowed two weeks vacation with
pay; seconded by Alderman Peal, and carried unanimously.
There being no further busines, Alderman Sanders moved to adjourn; seconded by
Alderman Ucker and carried unanimously, and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned.

and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants for same upon the proper funds. This
motion was seconded by Alderman Ucker and carried unanimously, and the Mayor so declared.
ewer A letter wasread from Alexander k1 laire, State Director P l'1 A, stating that he
�urvey: considered it permissible that the City Council should expend from the Sewer Revenue
an amount of money required to make a survey and blue prints for the information of
the Court in connection with a proposed suit to force owners of open toilets to connect
with the sever system. After discussion, Alderman Ucker moved that the Sevier Committee
be authorized to act in this matter. The motion was seconded by Alderman Hosford.. On
the Clerk's calling the roll the following vote resulted: Ayes: Bronson, Gregory,
Hosford, Peal, Shook and Ucker. Nays: Carter and Sanders. The Mayor declared carried
as there were six Ayes and two Nays.
ipening The matter of a notice in the Fayetteville Daily Democrat of the formal opening of the
ew City new City Administration Building was brought to the attention of the Council. After

discussion, Alderman Gregory moved that the City have a full page notice of the formal
opening'bf the new City Administration Building June 11, with pictures of the interior
and exterior put in the Fayetteville Daily Democrat at a cost of $50.00. This motion
was seconded by Alderman Bronson. On the Clerk's calling the roll, the following vote
resulted: Ayes: f3ronson, Gregory', Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Nays:Carter
The Mayor declared carried as there were seven ayes and one nay.
Alderman Sanders moved that the Building Committee have charge of the arrangements for
opening of the now City Administration Building on June 11th. The motion was seconded
by Alderman Ucker and on the question being put before the Council, the following vote
resulted. -Ayes: Bronson, Peal, Sanders,Shook and Ucker. Nays: Carter, Gregory and
Hosfo-rd. The Mayor declared camried as there were five ayes and three nays.
No further business, Alderman Ucker moved to adjourn. This motion was seconded by
Alderman•Hosford and duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council
adjourned..

F. L. Morgan of the Fay Gas & Elec Co. appeared before the Council exhibiting some
electrical appliances necessary to be used in compliance with a new electrical code.
(Alderman Sanders moved that the Ordinance Committee investigate this matter and report
next meeting night. Alderman Holford seconded the motion which carried unanimously.
Alderman Bronson moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instruc
to draw warrants for same upon the proper funds. The motion was seconded by Alderman
Carter and carried: unanimously and the Mayor so declared.
The matter of Testing Station for cars to be used on the Highways of the State was
brought toX the attention of the Council by the Mayor, this to be County wide and
handled by the City. After discussion Alderman Carter moved that the matter be referred
to the Street Committee..Alderman Uregory seconded the motion. On the Clerk's calling
MX the roll the following vote resulted; Ayes; Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal,
Shook and Ucker. Nays; Sanders. The Mayor declared carried as there were 7 Ayes and
1 Nay .
The request of Eldo Cole for two weeks vacation was presented to the Council. After
discussion Alderman Bronson moved that Eldo Cole be given two weeks vacation with pay.
Alderman Sanders seconded the motion. On the question being put before the Council the
following vote reseulted; Ayes; Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosf'ord, Peal,.Sanders, and
Shook. Nays; Ucker. The Mayor declared carried as there were 7 Ayes and 1 Nay.
Alderman Hosford and Ucker of the Insurance Committee gave their findings as to the
iirferent forms bf Insurance, clauses etc XK Xi6i.id15i[i5A26, The matter was left to the
Committee in charge.
Alderman Peal.made a motion that a letter of thanks be sent to the donors of flowers
for the City Administration Building opening. Alderman Shook seconded the motion which
received the entire vote of the Council.
No further business Alderman Sanders moved to adjourn. Alderman Bronson seconded the
notion which was duly passed by the Council and the Mayor declared the Council adjou
