McAllister, City Clerk Otoe Phillips, City Attorney Price Dickson, Alderme Bronson; Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Absent; City Engi- neer C. E. Pierce. Minutes of the regular meeting held May 10th, 1937, were reap and approved. The following bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman of the Auditing Committee; 0. N. Alderman Bronson moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrant s for same upon the proper funds. Alderman Ucker seconded the motion which carried unanimously and the Mayor so declared. Alderman Hosford of the Insurance Cobimittee gave a report as to the appraisal of the new City Building with reference to Insurance. The matter was deterred till next meeting of the Council. The final report of West Spring Street Improvement DistricA-No. 1 was presented. By motion of Alderman Sanders, seconded by Alderman Bronson, and duly passed by the Coun- cil, the matter was referred to the Auditiffing Committee. The terms of Office of Three members of the City Planning Board having expired Mayor McAllister named the folloviing, succeeding themselves, for a term of four ,years; Mrs L. S. Read, Roy Scott, and W. S. Campbell. Alderman Carter moved that the Council ratify the above appoint- ments. Alderman Peal seconded the motion which received the entire vote of the Council. No further business Alderman Sanders moved to adjourn,. The motion was seconded by Alder man Bronson and carried unanimously and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned. Alderman Shook moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants for same upon the proper funds. Alderman Ucker sec onded the motion which carried unanimously and the Mayor so declared. The matter of the odor from Jerpe's buttermilk evaporating plant was presented to the Council by Miss Suzanne C. Lighton, speaking for residents of the district affected, asking that the Council take some action to have conditions corrected. Alderman Sanders moved that the Mayor appoint three Councilmen and the City Attorney to confer with the Jerpe Plant Manager and take proper steps to correct existing conditions. The motion was seconded by Alderman Bronson and carried unanimously. The Mayor named for this Committee Sanders, Hosford, and Ucker. Alderman Hosford of the Insurance Committee stated that the matter of insurance for the New Building was being considered and that as Van Howell was present would ask him to explain to the Council about the rates, clauses etc relative to the matter. Mr. Howell explained these things at length, and the matter was left totthe Committee to work out. The financial report of XKX Sewer Imp. District Ido. 1 was presented. Alderman Bronson moved that this be referred to the Auditing Committee. Alderman Gregory seconded the motion which received the entire vote of the Council. Reports of the following City Officials for the Iv9onth of April ~dere presented; Clyde Walters as Fire Chief, J. C. Massie as Police Judge, Otoe Phillips as City Collector and as City Clerk. Alderman Gregory moved that the reports be received and filed. The motion was seconded by Alderman Peal and carried unanimously. Alderman Gregory made a motion that the City Building Inspector he instructed to accept :studded walls divided or bridged approximately in the middle of height between all openings with 2 inch solid bridging the full width of stud framing material, pending amendment to Ordinance No. 577, Section 23, of the Building Code. The motion was sec- onded by Alderman Bronson and carried unanimously. 292 The matter of a survey of outdoor toilets where possible to connect with sewer lines was discussed, Alderman Gregory moved that the Sewer Committee write WPA Authorities and ask permission to use money from Sewer Service coloections to.make this survey 4bf Alderman Hosford seconded the motion. On the Clerk's calling,the roll the followin vote resulted; Ayes; Bronson, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Shook, and Ucker. Nays; Carter, and Sanders. The Mayor declared the motion carried as there were 6 Ayes and 2 Nays, Acting Chief of Police Earl Hand stated to the Council that the State Patrolmen would like to use the Police Station to receive and send messages to Headquarters. Alderman Ucker moved that this privilege be granted. Alderman Carter seconded the motion which received the entire vote of the Council. No further business Alderman Bronson moved to adjourn.
