McAllister, City Clerk Otoe Phillips, City Attorney Price Dickson, City Engineer C. E. Pierce, Aldermen Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook, and Ucker. Minutes of the regular meeting held January 4th, 1937, were read and approved. Bills; The following bills -mere presented after their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman of the Auditing Committee; Frisco Ry $44.45, H. C. Co. $2.45, Lewis Bros Co. $16.08. Alderman Bronson moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants for same upon the proper funds. Alderman Shook seconded the motion which carried unanimously and the Mayor so declared. Reports of The following reports for the Month of December, 1936, were read by the Clerk; City Otoe Phillips as City Clerk and as Collector, J. C. Massie as Police Judge, M. E. Officials; Hand as Acting Chief of Police, Clyde Walters as Fire Chief including Annual re- poBt. Alderman Sanders moved that the reports be received and filed. Alderman Hos- ford seconded the motion which received the entire vote of the Council. Resolu- Alderman Gregory introduced the following resolution; tion; Resolution. Whereas, the Commissioner of Revenues for the State of Arkansas has in the past issued licenses for the sale at retail of hard liquors, to persons desiring to sell said liquor at retail within the City of Fayetteville, and, Whereas, the City of Fayetteville was compelled to issue their City license to sell liquor at retail within the City of Fayetteville, or to waive the license and per- mit such persons holding a State license to sell said liquors without such City li- cense, and, Whereas, in the past the City of Fayetteville has had no authority whatsoever to determine whether or not a retail liquor license should or should not be issued within the City of Fayetteville. Now, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, that the Commissioner of Revenues for the State of Arkansas be, and he is hereby, requested to issue no further retail liquor licenses within the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, unless and until an application to sell liquors at retail shall have first been approved by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, which application and the approval thereof shall be a condition pr@ce- dent to the issuance of a State license for the same purpose. Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Commission- er of Revenues fdr the State of Arkansas, the Secretary of the Arkansas P'unicipal League, and to the Senator and Representatives from Washington County in the State Legislature. Alderman Bronson moved that the above resolution be adopted. Alderman Hosford sec- onded the motion which carried unanimously and the Mayor so declared. J. E. Brunzo of the National Employment Service appeared before the Council,asking for office space in the new City building, and stating that registration under the Social Security Act would be handled thru his office. By motion of Alderman Sanders, seconded by Alderman Hosford, and duly passed by the Council, the matter was re- ferred to the Building Committee. No further business, Alderman Sanders moved that the Council adjourn. Alderman Bron- son seconded the motion which carried unanimously, and the Mayor declared t^e Council adjourned.
