Fayetteville City Council met in regular session Monday, January 25th, 1937.
Present; Mayor A. D. McAllister, City Clerk Otoe Phillips, City Attorney Price Dickson, City
Engineer C. E. Bierce, Aldermen Bronson, Hosford, Peal, Shook, and Ucker. Absent;
Aldermen Carter, Gregory, and Sanders.
Minutes of the regular meeting held January 18th, 1937, were read and approved.
Bills; The following bills were presented ai'ter their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman
of the Auditing Committee; O. N. Tucker $35.00, Frank Tucker $14:40; S. Stuart $12.00

bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants for same '
upon the proper funds. Alderman Ucker sdconded the motion which received the entire
vote of the Council present.
Govern- W. S. Campbell, Sec. of the G. of C., appeered before the Council stating that a
ment manual training shop from the Government Youth Movement could be secured for Fay -
Youth etteville and a location could be obtained in the top floor of the Garment Factory
Movement if the City and County would furnish certain necessary expenses. He stated that the
Man*nal County would furnish half' up to $300.00 if' the City would do the same. Alderman
Traini:ig) Bronson moved tha t the Mayor appoint a Committe of three to act with him in investi-
gating this matter. Alderman Peal seconded the motion which carried and the Mayor
named as this Committee Aldermen Bronson, Ucker, and Shook.
mriyers' The Mayor stated to the Council that the Myers childs coffin cost $$12.50 and the
Gbild County Judge asked the City to pay half of this amount. Alderman Peal moved that this
Coffin: request be granted, Alderman Hosford secondee: the motion which was duly passed by the
Council and the Mayor so declared.
No further business Alderman Bronson moved that the Council adjourn. Alderman Ucker
seconded the motion which carried unanimously and the Mayor declared the Council
adjourned.

Fayetteville City Council met in regular session Monday, February 1st, 1937,
Present; C'ty Clerk Otoe Phillips, City Attorney Price Dickson,n ldermen Carter, Gregory, Hos-
ford, Peal, Sanders, Shook, and Ucker. Absent; Mayor AV D. IvicAllister, Alderman Be Be
Bronson.
Alderman Gregory made a motion.that Alderman Sanders be elected Mayor Pro Tem. The mo-
tion was seconded by Alderman Hosford and carried unanimously.

Shook moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw
warrants for same upon the proper funds. Alderman Ucker seconded the motion which re-
ceived the entire vote of the Council present and the Mayor so declared.

Arnold A petition was presented signed by a number of business men requesting that the Counci
Popcorn: grant Will Arnold permission to install a popcorn stand on the Southeast corner of the
square East of the Stone building aldnpside the curb. After discussion Alderman Ucker
moved that this permission be granted if not conflicting with previous permits. Alder-
man Carter seconded the motion which carried unanimously.
Audit; Copies of the completb Audit of the City's records for 1936 were distributed to the
members of the Council for inspection. M. P. Bell, Certified Public Accountant, of
Frambers & Co. was present and gave an extended explanation of the Audit. After dis-
cussion, Alderman Gregory moved that the Audit be accepted, and that a vote of thanks
be extended Mr. Bell. Alderman Peal seconded the motion which was duly passed by the
Council..
Audit The Clerk presented a bill for $125.00 in payment of the 1936 Audit from Frambers &
Bill; Co. Alderman Ucker moved that the bill be allowed. Alderman Hosford seconded the mo-

A report of Acting City Inspector D. VJ. Rea was read by the Clerk. By motion of Alder
man Peal, seconded by Alderman Carter, and'duy passed by the Council, the report was
ordered received and filed.

Feeding I Bids for feeding City prisoners having been filed by various r^staurants were dis-
Prisoners•cussed. Alderman Gregory moved that the Jail Committee with the Mayor and the Chief
of Police be empowered to make the necessary arrangements for feeding the prisoners.
Alderman Carter seconded the motion which received the entire vote of the Council
present and the Mayor so declared.
nsurance. The matter of Insurance as follows was brought toX the attention of the Council;
Employers Liability, Workmens Collective, Public Liability, and Property Damage; all
in connection with the New City Building. After discussion Alderman Ucker moved that
the Building Committee investigate certain phases of the matter and be given power
to act. Alderman Shook seconded the motion which carried unanimously.
Alderman Ucker introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption;

keductio Whereas it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,
I that all persond, firma and corporations wishing to pay their motor vehicle taxes and
license fees due to the City of Fayetteville promptly should be granted a reduction
1937, on the regular fees charged;
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,
that all regular motor vehicle license fees due to the City of r'ayetteville, Arkan-
sas, be and the same are hereby reduced forty (40) percent which reduction shall be
and remain in full force and.effect until the close of business on February 27th,
1937, at which time the reduction granted in this resolution shall expire.3iMXXKKX

Alderman Shook seconded the motion which received the entire vote of the Council.
Alderman Gregory moved that the Council go into executive session. Alderman Ucker
seconded the motion which was duly passed. by the Council and the Mayor declared the
Council in executive session. After discussing various matters, Alderman Gregory
moved that the Council go out of executive session. The motion was seconded by Alder-
man Peal and carried unanimously and the Mayor declared the Council in regular session
No further business Alderman Ucker moved that the "ouncil adjourn. Alderman Shook
seconded the motion which carried and the Niayor declared the Council adjourned.

ter moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw
warrants for same upon the proper funds, this with the exception of 4$2.34 on the bill
of Herbert Lewis Sheriff for E broken window glass at the Jail (which was deducted from
the bill above). Alderman Sanders seconded the motion which carried unanimously and the
Mayor so declared.
Allowance XXX The matter of allowance for City prisoners for work and for fees while incarcerat

The matter of a used heating system which could be purchased from the City of Fort
Smith for use in the City ,jail was discussed. Alderman Bronson made a motion that this
be referred to the Building Committee, and that they be given power to act. Alderman
Ucker seconded the motion which received the entire vote of the Council.
Legislation as to City Civil Service was discussed. Alderman Sanders moved that City
Attorney Price Dickson be authorized to go to Little Rock at the City's expense to
keep in touch with this matter. Alderman Ucker seconded the motion which carried unan-
imously.
No further business Alderman Carter moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Alder
man Ucker and duly passed by the Council and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned.
