McAllister, City Clerk Utoe Phillips, City Attorney Price Dickson, City Engineer C. E. Pierce; Aldermen Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook, and Ucker. Minutes of the regular meeting held November 23rd, 1936, gere read and approved. The following bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman of the Auditing Committee; Ben Porter 017.50, James Bohannon $10.00, B. S. Ward $4.40, Ed Black $412.00, A. F. Shumate $20.00. Alderman Bronson moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants for same upon the proper funds..The motion was seconded by Alderman Peal and carried unanimously. The XX application for permission to put in a liquor store at No. 7, East Mountain St. by Sam Evans was XXXXXb$XtXAXNa)& reported on by Alderman Gregory for the Ordi- nance Committee recommending the such permission be granted. After discussion, Al- derman Gregory placed this in the form of a motion which was seconded by Alderman Ucker. After more discussion the question was put before the Council, resulting in the following vote; Ayes; Gregory, Sanders, Ucker. Nays; Bronson, Carter, Hodford, Peal, Shook. The Mayor declared the motion lest as there were 3 Ayes and 5 flays. Ordinance No. 794.E Snooker, Alderman Bronson introduced an Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance fixing license and An Ordinance to be entitled "An ordinance fixing license and permit fees for Bowling, permit fees for Snooker parlors and tables, Domino parlors and tables, Bowling Domino, alleys, and for other purposes; The Clerk read the Ordinance the first time in its Ordinance; entirety. Alderman Sanders moved that the rules be suspended and the ordinance be placed on its second reading. Alderman Hosford seconded the motion which received the entire vote of the Council. The Clerk then read the Ordinance the second time. Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of r'ayetteville; Alderman Shook made a motion ti -at the rules be further suspended and the Oddinance be placed on its third and final reading. Alderman Hosford seconded the motion, which received the unanimous vote of the Council, and the Clerk read the Ordinance Section One; That hereafter the annual license or permit for the operation of a the third and final time. The Mayor put the question "Shall the Ordinance pass". snooker parlor, where such operation is not prohibited by ordinances of this City, On the Clerk's calling the roll the following vote resulted; Ayes; Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook, Ucker. Nays; None. The Mayor declared the Ordinance passed as there were 8 Ayes and no Nays. Ordinance No. 794.E Cut I J. W. Cohea asked permission to cut pavement on Washington Ave. between Lafayette Pavementand Maple for the purpose of making sewer and water connections for a new resi- dence. Alderman Carter moved that this permit be granted under supervision of the City Engineer. The motion was seconded by Alderman Peal and carried unanimously. Alderman Bronson made 'a motion that the Council go into Executive session._The mo- tion was seconded by Alderman Sanders and duly passed by the Council and the Mayor declared the Council in Executive session. After various matters were discussed, Alderman Gregory moved that the Council go out of Executive session. This motion was seconded by Alderman Ucker and carried unanimously. The Mayor declared the Council in regular session. The delay in approval of VIPA City Hall Project was discussed at length. Alderman gAbter Moved that Mayor McAllister, Alderman Sanders, and Alderman Gregory be dele- gated to go to Little Rock at the City's expense to contact Sen. Joe T. Robinson in order to obtain, if possible, definite information as to the matter. Alderman Hosford seconded the motion which carried unanimously. An Ordinance to be entitled "An ordinance fixing license and permit fees for Snooker parlors and tables, Domino parlors and tables, Bowling alleys,'and for other purposes", Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of r'ayetteville; Section One; That hereafter the annual license or permit for the operation of a snooker parlor, where such operation is not prohibited by ordinances of this City, shall be $25.00, and said parlor may contain from one to five tablesprovided additional tables may be added for the additional sum or license of 45.00 per table. Section Two; That hereafter the annual licende or permit for the operation of a domino parlor shall be $5.00 per table per annum. ' Section Three; That hereafter the annual license or permit for the operation of bowling alleys shall be $30.00 per alley. Section Four; That this Ordinance shall not be construed as permitting the oper- ation of any of said amusements if" now prohibited by any ordinance now in force in the City of Hayetteville; but this Ordinance shall be construed only as a re- vision of the rates of existing licenses and permits for such amusements and all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with the rates a's herein set forth are hereby repealed; and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage, approval, and publication. Alderman Ucker moved that the Emergency clause be voted on separately. Alderman Carter seconded the motion which.carried unanimously. On the vote being taken the following Ayes were recorded; Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, X Shook, and Ucker. Nays; None. Lollar leave of City Inspector Oliver Lollar asked for a leave of absence for three months because absence; of ill health, suggesting D. W. Read for the work during his absence. Alderman Bron- son moved that this regaest be granted. The motion was seconded by Alderman Greg- ory and carried unanimously. Alderman Carter then moved that D. W. Read be appointed City Inspector to serve during Mr. Lollar's leave of absence. Alderman Peal second- ed the motion which was duly passed by the Council. Cut I J. W. Alderman Hosford seconded the motion which carried unanimously. 270 Rescind Action Liquor Permit; Liquor permit Granted; resent; City Attorney Price Dickson called the Council's attention to the fact that XX the applicant Sam Evans for Liquor store permit had already obtained state license and that they were waiving City license by refusing such permit. Alderman Peal moved that the Council rescind their action in the early part of the session.as to the Sam Evans liquor store permit. Alderman Carter seconded the motion. On the Clerk's calling the roll the following vote resulted; Ayes; Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hos- ford, Peal, Sanders, Shook, and Ueker. Nays; None, The Mayor declared the motion carried as there were 8 Ayes and no Nays. Alderman Gregory moved that Sam Evans be granted permission to put in a liquor store at No. 7, East Mountain Street. Alderman Ucker.seconded,the motion. On the question being put before the Council the following vote resulted; Ayes; Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook, and Ucker. The Mayor declared carried as there were 8 Ayes and no Nays. No further business Alderman Bronson moved that the Council adjourn. F. Shumate x;20.00, Lewis Bros Co. $0.64. Alderman Gregory moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants for same upon the proper funds. The motion was seconded by Alderman Haord and carried unanimously. City Alderman Gregory of the Committee named to go to Little. Rock to contact XM Senator Hall: Joe T. Robinson as to F1PA City Hall Project, gave an extended report as to results NYX9TXiidM4dt3fiUi of this connection. After much discussion Aldemman Sanders made a motion that the Mayor, the Building Committee, and the Architect get together for the purpose of laying plans for beginning work on the new Y.City Building and be given power to act. The motion was seconded ]5M by Alderman Bronson and received the entire vote of the Council.
