Alde^man Gregory moved that the Mayor be unstructed to acquire requisition purchase

Register: The Motion was seconded by Alderman Peal, and carried unanimosuly.
Sidewalk The subject bf condition of the sidewalk in front of City Hospital property was
at discussed. Alderman Ucker, Chairman of the Committee appointed to look into this
City matter reported that the dity Hospital was without funds to assist in correcting the
Hospital: condition of the sidewalk after lowering the grade of the street. No action taven.
There being no further business,Alderman Bronson moved to adjourn, seconded by aldermal
Ucker and carried unanimously. The Mayor declared the Council adjourned.

Minutes of.the regular meeting Monday March 2,1936, were read and approved.

Alderman Bronson moved that -the bills be aITowed/is approved and the Clerk instructed -to
issue warrants upon the proper funds in payment of same, seconded by Alderman Ucker
and carried unanimously.
Brooks A bill was presented from Brooks and Drake''fo.r Gas purchased in Janauary 1936 by
Drake A. F. Shumate for the Street Department. After discussion, Alderman Sanders moved
Bili.- that this bill be allowed and the Clerk instructed to issue warrant upon the proper
fund in payment of same, seconded by Alderman Bynum, and unanimously passed by the
Council; amount of this bill is $15.48.
Washing- Fayetteville Public School, F. S. Root.., Superintendant, asked permission to cut curb
ton- at two places, west and southwest-lobdt6ns on Washington School grounds; the one for
School- "drive in", and the other for a drainage. Alderman Gregory moved that this permit
Cut Curb: be granted to be done under supervision of City Engineer, seconded by Alderman Shook
and carried unanimously.
Use of I C.D. Atkinson, a member of the State Centennial Clommission and F. S.�Root, Chairman
City Hall of the Fayetteville Centennial Committee appeared before the Council, asking support
for State for the project sponsered by'�'lashington County -and Northwest Arkansas Centennial
i groups to the extent of bein§'allowed the use of the first floor of the newly acquired
Centenni- City property "the Wolf Bldg , in a period between June 1st, and Ausu9t 31st,1936;stat
al- ing that other towns in Washington County are co-operating to the fullest extent, but
are looking to Fayetteville to provide the building for the display of Northwest Arkan
sas exhibits of produce and manufacture; Fayetteville having been chosen as one of the
Festival cities. The matter:.wa.s discussed at length.
Alderman Ucker moved that the question of contributing the first floor of the new
City Hall to be used for Centennial purposes during the period noted be referred to
the Building Purchase Committee to investigate further and recommend action to be
taken; seconded by Alderman Peal, and upon the question being put before the Council
resulted in the following vote! Ayes: Aldermen Bronson, Bynum, Carter, Gregory,Peal,
Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Naye: None. The Mayor declared carried and asked the
Building Purchase Committee to prbeeedk_onsthese instructions.

E,W, Brooks asked permission to cut curb at--his-residence 534 North Walnut st., to
construct drive -way. Alderman Ucker moved that this permit be granted to be done under
supervision of City Engineer,, seconded by Alderman Bynum, and duly passed by the
Council.

The Committee anp9inted to confer with Police Judge as to interpretation of Ordinance
Ord. Number 789 -Motor Vehicle Ordinance- reported that the Judge'rescinded his previous
#789- decision, and stated that all trucks operated upon -.the streets of Fayetteville whethe
confined entirely to hauling within the City were due to pay City fhotor.::vehicle
license.
There being no further business, Alderman Ucker moved -to adjourn, seconded by Alderm+
Bronson and carried unanimously; and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned.

Alderman Carter moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk instructed

W. E..McWhorter.representing a group using Trucks outside of the City, and having
Trucks only stored in the City appeared before the Council, asking that they be exempt-
ed from paying City License on same. Discussion. No action taken.

stating that they felt that there would be no adequate "Clean -Up" week affecting the

residences unless the City continues the practice of.handling the expense of this
as they have in the past. After discussion, Alderman Sanders moved that an amount
not to exceed $50.00 be used to "Clean-up" week, provided the Garden Clubs individually
and collectively use every effort to see that rubbish is assembled and put out ready
for the trucks when they call and that the date of "Clean -Up" week be set by the ladies
of the Garden Clubs, seconded by Alderman Gregory and carried unanimously, as shown by
thelfollowing vote :.Ayes: Aldermen Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Peal, Sanders, Shook and
Ucker. Absent and not voting Alderman Bynum.
Jas.McDonald, 14 years of age, applied for permit to drive motor vehicle. The Council
asked McDonald to bring a request from either parent asking for this privilege.

Dr. Ben T Ward appeared before the Council asking that a responsible person be placed

in charge of the Aviation Field. After some discussion, Alderman Grec•ory moved that
this matter be handled by the Mayor as he sees fit, to the extent that if he thinks
advisable to enter into a contract with a person or persons to have charge of the
Aviation Field, seconded by Alderman Peal, and upon the question being put before the
Council resulted in the following vote: Ayes: Aldermen: Bronson, Carter,Gregory,l`
Peal, Shook and Ucker. Nay: Alderman Sanders. Absent and not voting Alderman Bynum.
The Mayor declared carried, as there were six Ayes and one Nay.
Dog-

discussion. Alderman Peal moved that some one be appointed to take care of this
clatter, and that the penalty of 50 cents on each dog be the compensation of the person
