Alderman Carter moved that the,Council go into Executive Session, seconded by Aldermai Beal and carried unanimously; and the Mayor declared the Council in Executive Session, Alderman Sanders moved that the Council go out of Executive Session, seconded by Alderman Bynum, and unanimously passed; and the Mayor declared the Council out of Executive Session. There being no,further business, AldermEn Carter moved to adjourn, seconded by Alder- man Bronson, and carried unanmously; and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned. Aldermen: Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Absent: Alderman Bynum, Minutes of the regular meeting Monday February 24,1936 were read and approved. The following bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Peal, chairman of the Auditin Committee: Arkansas Western Gas Co. 7.46; Lewis Bros. Hdw $5.17; Alde"rmari Bronson moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the, clerk be instructed to issue warrants upon the proper accounts in payment of same, seconded by Alderman Carter and carried unani- mously. The committee appointed to draft resolutions of respect for C. T. Harding, deceased, presented the following Resolution for the Council's consideration: R E S 0 L U T I 0 N. 7HEREAS, in the recent death of Mr. C. T. Harding who had devoted eighteen ,years of honorable and efficient service to our City as an Alderman and in whose death we recognize the passing of an outstanding citizen, and, WHEREAS, those of us who had served on the Council with Mr Harding had found him to be a wise dounsellor, deliberate in his judgments, and faithful to the best interests of of our City, and, Whereas, we hold in high+;regard his invaluable services, and deeply regret our per loss in the friendshdp that many years of association had engendered. THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Fayetteville that in the death of Mr. Harding we mourn the loss of a distinguished citizen, a faithful public servant, and a true and dependable friend: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we extend to the bereaved family our sympathy; that a copy of this resolution be mailed to them and a copy be spread upon the minutes of this Council. Alderman Gregory moved the adoption of this resolution, seconded by Alderman Carter and carried unanimously. The complaints of Allen and Ruth Banks and Mary L Baxter on their assessed benefits in Annex No.l Sewer Iipprovement District No.l were read. Alderman Carter moved that These matters be turned to the Sewer Committee for investigation, seconded by Alderman Bronson and carried unanimously. Alderman Sanders introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: 101 R E S 0 L U T I 0 N. 4otorvehi. RESOLVED that the Mayor proclaim an extension of the time for the purchasing of :le reduc- motor vehicle licenses at the forty: (40) percent reduction from the regular fee up to ;ion to and including March 31st. Lnclude Alderman.^Brandon seconded this motion. Afterudiscussion, the,question was put before Rarch 31s .Council and the following vote resulted:Ayes: Alderman Bronson, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Nays: Alderman Carter, Gregory and Peal. Absent and not voting Alderman Bynum. Relative to proposed register for purchasing Agent brought up by Mayor McAllister, Alde^man Gregory moved that the Mayor be unstructed to acquire requisition purchase Purchase register to begrin records April lst,for recording all purchase requisitions issued. Register: The Motion was seconded by Alderman Peal, and carried unanimosuly. Sidewalk The subject bf condition of the sidewalk in front of City Hospital property was at discussed. Alderman Ucker, Chairman of the Dommittee appointed to look into this City matter reported that the Glity Hospital was without funds to assist in correcting the Hospital: condition of the sidewalk after lowering the grade of the street. No action taken. There being no further business,Alderman Bronson moved to adjourn, seconded by alderma Ucker and carried unanimously. The Mayor declared the Council adjourned. Brooks A bill was presented from Brooks and Drake -'for Gas purchased in January 1936 by Drake A. F. Shumate for the Street Department. After discussion, Alderman Sanders moved Bili.- that this bill be allowed and the Clerk instructed to issue warrant upon the proper fund in payment of same, seconded by Alderman Bynum, and unanimously passed by the Council; amount of this bill is 015,48. Washing -Fayetteville Public School, F. S. Root, Superintendant, asked permission to cut curb ton- at two places, west and southwest-locat16ns on Washington School grounds; the one for School- "drive in", and the other for a drainage. Alderman Gregory moved that this permit Cut Curb: be granted to be done under supervision of City Engineer, seconded by Alderman Shook and carried unanimously. Use ofI C.D. Atkinson, a member of the State Centennial Qommiss•ion and F. S.*Root, Chairman City Hall of the Fayetteville Centennial Committee appeared before the Council, asking support for Stat for the project sponsered by Slashington County and Northwest Arkansas Centennial groups to the extent of bein'allowed the use of the first floor of the newly acquired Centenni- City property "the FJolf Bldg', in a period between June 1st, and Ausust 31st,1936;stat al- ing that other towns in Washington County are co-operating to the fullest extent, but are looking to Fayetteville to provide the building for the display of Northwest Arkax sas exhibits of produce and manufacture; Fayetteville having been chosen as one of the Festival cities. The matt2r::wa.s discussed at length. Alderman Ucker moved that the question of contributing the first floor of the new City Hall to be used for Centennial purposes during the period noted be referred to the Building Purchase Committee to investigate further and recommend action to be taken; seconded by Alderman Peal, and upon the question being put before the Council resulted in the following vote'. Ayes: Aldermen Bronson, Bynum, Carter., Gregory,Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Naye: None. The Mayor declared carried and asked the Building Purchase Committee to prbceed-.bnsbhese instructions. Annex No.'Alde rnian Sanders, as Chairman of the Sewer Committee, reported that the Sewer Committee 11Sewer recommended that no reduction be made is the assessed benefit of Allen and Ruth Banks and that the Assessed benefit of Mary L-: Baxter be reduced to 0400e00. Alderman Bynum Baxter- moved that these recommendations be accepted, seconded by Alderman Peal and carried Banks- u nnimously:These assessments are included in Annex No.l Sewer Improvement District .Number One.
