Fayetteville City Council met in regular session Monday December 9th,7:30 P. M.1935.
Present: Mayor A. D. McAllister; City Clerk Otoe Phillips, Aldermen: Bronson, Bynum, Carter,
Gregory, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker.
Minutes of the regular meeting December 2nd,1935., were read and approved.
Bills: The following bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Pea1,,Chairman
Of the Auditing Committee:Democrat Printing & Lithographing Co. $14.66 Dr. J. W.
Walker $2.00; Galion Iron Works $14.00; FayettevillesLbr & Cement C o• 8.66• The
Automotive 41 cents, Thomas & Son$1.10; Ralph Kane $2.00•Harper Brush Works66.00;
Kelley Lumber Co. $4.38; Guy koberts $11.00; Ben Porter 615.00; A F Shumate $18.00;
Bud Drain 011.00; Skelley Oi1Co. $41.37; Southwest Has & Electric Co. $2.30 and $1.15;
Fayetteville Machine & Tool Company. 35 cents; Jay Shelley $10.50. Alderman Bronson
made a motion which was seconded by Alderman Ucker that the bills be allowed as
approved and the Clerk be instructed to issuewarrants upon the proper Hands in
payment of same. This motion received the entire vote of the Council.
The Clerk read the monthly lrepo•rts for November. Alderman Carter moved that the
same be received and filed. This motion was seconded by Alderman Peal and carried
unanimously,

g same Monday night December 16th. This motion was seconded by Alderman Bynum and

A request was read from W. S. Duggars asking permis1sion to cut pavement on West
Mountain and Locust streets for the purpose of;making water connection for Gulf Refim=
ing Company. Alderman Gregory moved that this permit be granted to be done under
supervision of City Engineer. Alderman Sanders seconded this motion which was duly
passed by the Council.
Urval Phipps appeared asking aid in repair of car damaged in accident caused by condi-
tion of Street at corner of Spring and School streets. Alderman Sanders moved that
action in this matter be deferred until Mondaynight, December 16th,; in the mean time
that a conference be had with City Attorney Rex Perkins. This motion was seconded by
Alderman Brosnon and received the unanimous vote of the Council.
Jno. Deason, representing the Crescent Drug Store, appeared, asking that the City's
Liquor Ordinance be amended "to ;cohcuri;; with the State law with reference to the sale
of Liquor on Holidays. After discussion,Alderman Sanders moved that the Ordihance
Committee be instructed to amend Ordinance No.7822 passed and approved 10th, day of
June 1935 to comply with State law. This motion was seconded by Alderman Bynum, and
upon the motion being put before the Council and the roll called, resulted in the
following vote. Aye: Aldermen: Bynum, Carter, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Nays: Aldermen
Bronson, Gregory and Peal. The Mayor declared the motion carried as there were five
Ayes and three hays.
Alderman Bronson introduced an Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance providing for assessing
And collecting a License Tax for the privilege of operating vehicles upon the Streets
and Alleys of the City of Fayetteville, AAansas; specifying the rates and terms
defining certain words, and for other purposes "xi:xxxxxxxxr.yxxxxmxrK xxxAnd the Clerk

second time. After some discussion, Alderman Gregory moved that the Ordinance be left
on its second reading. Alderman Ucker seconded this motion and upon the question being
put before the Council, resulted in the following vote: Ayes: Aldermen: Bronson, Bynum,
Carter, Gregory, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Nays: None. The Mayor declared
carried, as there were eight Ayes and no Nays.
I ' There being no further business, Alderman Bronson moved to adjourn. Alderman Shook
seconded this motion which carried unanimously, and the Mayor declared the Council
adjourned.
