Fayetteville City Council met in regular session September 23rd,1935.
Present: Mayor A. D. McAllister, City Attorney Rex Perkins, Acting Chief of Police M E Hand;
Alderman Bronson; Bynum, Carter, Gregory, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Absent:
City Clark Otoe Phillips -City Attorney Rex Perkins acting as clerk of the session.
Minutes of the regular meeting September 16th,1935 were read and approved.
Bills: The following bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman
of the Auditing Committee: Southwest Bell Telephone Co. $60.43; Earl Swaggerty $14.00
Jno Zillah $12.50; Ralph Kane $19.20; Lee Lacy $1.00; Ben Porter $15.00; A F Shumate
$18.00; J K Gregory $10.00; Guy Roberts $12.00; E A Martin Machinery Co. $85.81;
E. M. Ratliff $18.50. Alderman Bronson moved that these bills be allowed as approved
This motion was seconded by Alderman Bynum and received the unanimous vote of the
Council. The Mayor declared carried and the Clerk was instructed to issue warrants
upon the proper funds in payment of same.

that their request be granted upon delivery of the cancelled Bonds etc. Alderman
Bronson seconded this motion which carried unanimously.
"Sticker Letters were read from City offices of Fort Smith, and Little Rock,giving their
Tags" experience and custom of handling "Sticker" tags, and stating their preference for
these rather than a metal tag.

$5.00 The matter of more desirable,,quarters for U. S. Employment Bureau? was brought to
toward the attention of the Council. After some discussion of the service rendered the
U S Employ -City of. Fayetteville by this Bureau, Alderman Ucker moved that provided the Chamber
mentI of Commerce, Lions Club and Rotarians make a donation toward this project that the
office: City of Fayetteville contribute $5.00 per month for a period of six months. This
motion was seconded by Alderman Peal and received the unanimous vote of the Council.
ExtraThe Police Department asked the privilege of employing two extra Night Policemen -
Police: during Fair Week. Alderman Gregory moved that $30.00 be allowed for Special Police
during -Fair rWeek. This motion was seconded by Alderman Peal and received the
unanimous vote of -the Council. The Mayor declared carried.
There being no further business, Alderman Bronson moved to adjourn. Alderman
Bynum=r seconded the motion which was duly passed, andthe Mayor declared the Council
adjourned.

Present: Mayor McAllister, City Attorney Rex Perkins; Aldermen: Bronson, Bynum, Carter, Gregory
Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Acting Chief of Police Earl Hand. Absent: City Clerk,
Otoe Phill lips. City Attorney Rex Perkins acting as Clerk of the;session.

of the Auditing Committee: -Har ey Gover Sheriff $43 OO;Eason & Co., Insurance -$10.00;
J W Shelley $12.75; W E Gregg $15 00; J W Shelley $50.00; Guy Roberts $10.00; Ben Port
$15.00; A F Shumate $18.00; Alderman Bronson moved that these bills be allowed as
approved, and warrants issued against the proper funds'in1payment of same. Alderman
Carter seconded this motion which was unanimously passed by the Council .
Permit: I A request was received from Rogers Electric'Supply Company to hang Ne -on sign,per
Blue Mill drawing attached,at Blue Mill Sandwich Shop, 29 North'Bleock street. Alderman Carter
Sandwich moved that this request be granted to be hung under supervision and inspection of
Shop: City Bldg Inspector. This motion was seconded by Alderman Shook and received the
unanimous vote of the Council.
L Lewis- The matter of L L Lewis business house -bging erected .on corner of Dickson and Gregg
roperty streets extending on to City property line was brought up for discussion. No action

Marble Mayor McAllister presented the matter of complaints from citizens regarding the.manrer of
Machine. operation of Marble machines licdnsed, by the City. In the discussioh, Cit q Attorney
Gambling- Rex Perkins brought out the point that the Ordinance licenses machines which are not
in themselves gambling devices, and that the operation of gambling machines under these
licenses; would be in violation of the Ordinance. Alderman Gregory moved that operators
of gambling machines be arrested by Chief of Police. This motion was seconded by
Alderman Peal, and upon the question being put before the Council resulted in the
following vo#e: Ayes: Aldermen Bronson, Bynum, Carter, Gregory, Peal, Sanders, Shook
and Ucker. Naves: prone. The Mayor declared carried as there were eight Ayes and no
Nayese
