Fayetteville City Council met in regular session August 12th,19.35.
Present: Mayor A D McAllister, City Clerk Otoe Phillips, City Attorney Rex Perkins, Aldermen:
Bronson, Bynum, Carter, Gregory, Peal, Sanders, Shook. Absent: Alderman Ucker and
City Engineer E It Ratliff.
I.Iinutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The following bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman
of the Auditing Committee: J E Moore Sheet Metal Co. $5. 50; 0 P1 Stapleton $1.25;
Marathon Oil Oo., $8.16;Barnsdall Refining Co. $67.42;Guy Roberts $10.00; A F Shumate
$18.00; Ben Porter $15.00 Joe Baker .56.00; Dens -Oil Lubricant $38.32;Gabbard Bros.
55 cents; Standard Oil $8.01.Alder•man Bronson moved that the bills be allowed as
approved and the Clerk instructed to draw warrants for the same upon the proper
funds. This motion was seconded by Alderman Gregory and.received the unanimous vote of
of the Council.
Red Cron The following firms made application to hang Electric signs: Red Cross Drug Store,
Hob-NobHob-Nob Liquor Store, and McAdams Drug Store. Alderman Gregory moved that the
McAdams- permits be granted, same to be done under supervision and inspection of City Inspect
Permits or, Oliver Lollar.
Magnolia A request from Magnolia Petroleum Co., to cut curb in Block 32 Lots 1 and 2 Origina
Permit: Town to be used in Service Station to be erected. Alderman Carter moved that this
permit be granted to be done under supervision of C E Pierce, acting for City Engin
eer, E. M. Ratliff.
Financial report forthe month of July was read. Alderman Carter moved that the
same be received and filed. This motion was seconded by Alderman Sanders and was
duly passed by the Council.

350. to I In the matter of purchase of lot from J H McIlroy on which house be placed belonging
J H ➢IcIl oy to H. E. Eason, in changingHighway #62, the Clerk asked authority to issue check for
$'350.00 claimed by Mr.„MdIroy. Alderman Bronson moved that the Clerk be instructed
to issue this check for $0350. charging the same to Street Fund. Alderman Sanders
seconded the motion which upon the Clerk calling the roll, the following vote
resulted: Ayes: Alderman.Bronson, Bynum, Carter, Gregory, Peal, Sanders and Shook.
Absent and not voting : Alderman Ucker. The Mayor declared carried as there were
seven Ayes and no Naves.
There being no further business, Alderman Bronson moved to adjourn. The motion was
seconded by Alderman Bynum, and carried unanimously. The Mayor declared the
Council adjourned.

Otoe Phillips, City Clerk.
Bills: The following bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman of
the Auditing Committee: Fayetteville Daily Democrat $11.90; Joe Baker $6.00;Guy
Roberts X12.00; Bossmayer-McBride $18.75; Kern Limerick Co. $23.20; A F Shumate $18.;
Ben Porter $15.00; Faus Gary $12.00; R b H Paint and Adv Co. $6.00. Alderman Bynum
moved that these bills be paid by Clerk issuing warrants upon the proper funds.
Alderman Bronson seconded this motion which received the unanimous vote of the
Council.
E M Ratliff- A letter was read from E M Ratliff, City Engineer asking for six months leave of
Leave- absence on account of,physical disability, with his suggestion that matters pertain -
Absence: ing to the office of City Engineer be referred to C E Pierce, and should anything
arise that P,Ir Pierce desires consultation, that Mr Ratliff has arranged with Dean
V1 N Gladson and 1'1 C Smith who will cooperate with Mr Pierce in any way that he may
find it necessary; anything out of the routine work will go through Mr Pierce in;:_
accord with contract betiven City of Fayetteville and E PrI Ratliff, for Engineering
services.. Salary chedk to. go to go to E M Ratliff. Alderman Gregory moved that
the requested leave of absence be granted P,Ir Ratliff and the suggestions as to how
his work should be carried on be accepted in their entirety. Alderman Peal seconded
this motion which upon the question being put before the Council resulted in a
unanimous vote.
V Bird -1 A request was read from E V Bird to erect a Marquise in front of Bosse-eyer-McBride
Building on North Block st. Alderman Gregory moved that the permit be granted,
rquise- work to be done under supervision of City Inspector. The motion was seconded by
Alderman Ucker and carried unanimously.
al Payl A statement from Commissioners of 3)uth College Ave Imp rl for the year 1933 on
College C B Franke property 066.00 was presented,stating that on account of receiving funds
from the State Highway Department sufficient to pay Bonds that no more payments
would be asked from the City. Alderman Gregory moved that the Clerk be authorized
to issue warrant for this amount upon the proper funds. Alderman Bynum seconded t

seconded this motion which carried unanimously.
There being no further business, Alderman Sanders moved to adjourn. This motion
was seconded by Alderman Bynum and carried unanimously; and the Mayor declared the

Gregory, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Acting Chief of Police Earl Hand. Absent:
Otoe Phillips, City Clerk. City Atty Rex Perkins acting as clerk of the session.

allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants upon the proper
funds in payment of same. This motion was seconded by Alderman Shook which carried
unanimously.
A request from Autry Bros.,in reference to hauling trash. Alderman Bronson moved
that this, matter be referred to the Street Committe for investigation and report.
Alderman Peal seconded this motion which received the unanimous vote of the Council.
Curt Curt: A request was read from Dr. E. F. Ellis to cut curb on lot .just north of Maggie
Logan property County Court IPRI 15-16-30, North College Ave. Alderman Ucker moved
that this request be granted, work to be done under supervision of City Engineer.
j Alderman Bynum seconded this motion which was unanimously passed by the Council.

Sign IvicCartney Motor Company asked permission to hang sign in front of their business
Permit: house North East street,Block 15 Original Town. Alderman Ucker moved thattklis
request be granted, work to pass inspection of City Inspector. AldermanBronson
seconded this motion which received the unanimous vote of the Council.
ph A request was read from Tialph Dowell, asking permission to install Curb Pyzmps in rear
ell: of Lewis Bros Hardware Co. Alderman Sanders moved that this request be refused.
Alderman Carter seconded the rgotion whichupon the question being put before the
Council resulted in a unanimous vote that the permit be refused.
The matter of City Policemen serving Civil process for Justice of the Peace Courts
was brought to the attention of the Council. Alderman Ucker moved that the matter
be referred to the Civil Service Commission. This motion was seconded by Alderman
Carter and carried unanimously. Alderman Sanders then moved that the Mayor
appoint a Committee of three to take this matter up with the Civil Service Commission.
Alderman Bynum seconded this motion which carried unanimously and Mayor McAllister
appointed Aldermen: Sanders, Bynum and Shook as the Committee to confer with the
Civil Service Committee with reference to this matter.
After some discussion on the subject, Alderman Bynum moved that the intersection
of Dickson street betwaeen Fletcher and Summitt be opened and worked. Alderman
Sanders seconded this motion which received the unanimous vote of the Council.
Snooker I A request was received that Ordinance Number 734-an.Ordinarice relating to certain
Ordinanc objectionable amusements, passed and approved April 20,1931, be amended to admit
Spanish. American War veterans privileges same as Legionairesi. Alderman Ucker moved
that the Ordinance be referred to the Ordinance Committee: Aldermen Gregory, Bronson,
and Carter. This motion was seconded by Alderman Sanders and was duly passed by the
Council.
Permit- The Coca-Cola Company asked permission to hang sign at Fayetteville Drug Company.
Fay Drug Alderman Sanders moved that the permit be granted work to be done under supervision
Co.- of City Inspector. Alderman Ucker seconded this motion which received the unanimous
vote of the Council.
There being no further business,Alderman Gregory moved to adjourn. Alderman Carter
seconded the motion which carried unanimously, and the Mayor declared the Council
adjourned.
