Two. SECTION: Any person or persons violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof in the Police Court shall be fined in any sum not less than $1.00 nor more than $25.00 for each offense. SECTION: Three:�iThis.Ordinance shall be cumulative to all,other traffic and parking OrUinances and shall repeal only such,parts of Ordinances that are in direct conflict herewith and shall be in force and effect from and after date of its passage, approval and publication. The Committee appointed on ldonday July 15th, to meet with the Civil Service Commission ed that a man may be hired for a period of not to exceed 60 days without permanent affiliation with the Civil Service Commission. There being no further business to come before the Council, Alderman Sanders moved to adjourn. The 180tion was seconded by Alderman Gregory and received the unanimous vote of the Council. Present: Mayor A D McAllister, City Attorney Rex Perkins, Acting.Chief of Police Earl Hand, Aldermen Bronson, Bynum, Gregory, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Absent: Alderman Carter City Clerk Otoe Phillips and City Engineer E M Ratliff. Bills: The following bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman of Auditing Committee. -Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. $5.71; J W Shelley $27.00; Joe Baker $6.00; Cole's Cash Store $3.00; Campbell Grocery #1, $10.00; Ben Porter $15.00; A F Shumate $18.00. Alderman Bronson moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to issue warrants upon the proper funds in payment of same. This motion was seconded by Alderman Sanders and received the unanimous.vote of,the seven Councilmen present. Tulsa, 0 la'ie Clerk read a letterfrom Jno. C. Johnson,1001 Medical Arts Bldg. Tulsa, Okla., °offering the City a tract of land five miles southeast of Fayetteville on which a Letter: reservoir for water (as may be needed at some future time)might be constructed with P V1 A money. The only compensation asked of,the City is thatthe owners of the land might be allowed use of such reservoir and its shore line for fishing, boating and scenic effect, all of which will be subordinanted and subject to the need of Fayette ville for this water whenever such an emergency arises". Alderman Bronson moved that this letter be ferred to the City Planning Commission for their consideration. Alder -mai Ucker seconded this motion which was unanimously passed by the Council, Marathon A letter was read from Marathon Oil Co., asking for refund of'two years curb pump Oil Co license on Station of Dixie Oil Co., Dickson st. Alderman Bronson moved that in view of the fact that the exact time of removal of said pumps v7i:thin the curb line, Refund that the City refund one ,years' license or $20:00. Alderman Gregory seconded this one year motion which upon the Clerk's calling the roll, resulted in the following vote:Ayes: Curb Pum Alderman Bronson, Bynum, Gregory, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Absent and not voting:Alderman Carter. The Mayor declared carried as there were seven Ayes and no Nayes. This check was turned to City Clerk for credit and Deposit to credit of Air Port Fund, Alderman Sanders moved that the original Committee, substituting Alderman Bronson for Alderman Stanford have complete authority" to settle the Dowell and, :Eas:orr.cc:ondemna:t proceedings covering land used in straightening Highway #62. Alderman Bynum seconded this motion which upon the question being put resulted in the following vote: Ayes: Aldermen Bronson, Bynum, 'Gregory, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Absent and not voting: Alde.r;ran Carter. The.Mayor declared carried, The matter of specially marked parking places was brought to the attention of the Council. Alderman Sanders moved that the Mayor and- dhief of Police be given authority to mark any special parking spaces in the City. The motion was seconded by Alderman Ucker and received the unanimous vote of the seven Councilmen{; present. A communication was read from Jas Dinwiddie, former City Inspector,bringing to the attention of the Council the need of a neva Plumbing Ordinance. No action taken. Alderman Sanders moved that the Council go into Executive Session. The motion was seconded by Alderman Bronson and carried unanimously; and the Mayor declared the Council in Executive Session: Applications from the following were read, making application for the office of City Inspector of Fayetteville. -Oliver lollar, W M FishbE. Felix Anderson; Lewis Davidson, P C Richardson, J M Diggs; also a letter from M J Brun, Chief of Fire Department, Fort Smith, stating that his observation had been that the Fire Chief acting in the capacity of City Inspect -or in small towns had proven very satisfactory.in sr".0 kx=. After consideration of these different applicants, Oliver Lollar was elected by ballott, A Resolution defining Double Parking was int.roducedv as follows: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY_COUNCIL OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: SECTION ONE:That moving a vehicle from one parking space to another parking space on the same street,within the restricted areas set forth in Ordinance Numbers 708 and 639, unless such removal be the result of necessary or legitimate use of said vehicle as it is ordinarily used, shall not exempt the owner of said vehicle from the penalty_ prescribed in said Ordinances. Alderman Gregory moved that the Ioiayor appoint a Committee to look further into the advisability of the City owning or maintaining a place to eare.for City prisoners.
