Alderman Peal. The Mayor declared carried.
Alderman Bronson moved that the Council go into executive session, which motion was
seconded by Alderman Bynum. After the room was cleared, the Mayor declared the,
Council in Executive Session.. Acting Chief of Police Earl Hand stated that the
liquor proposition as to bootleggers, under existing laws, gives the police no
power. He stated that he could get sales on the boot-leggers but did not want to
pay for the purchase. Alderman Bronson moved that "$lOw00 be allowed Mr Hand to
carry on. Alderman Ucker seconded this motion. On the question being put before
the Council, the following vote resulted: Ayes: Aldermen, Bronson, Bynum, Carter
Gregory, Shook and Ucker. Nayes: Alderman Sanders, Absent and not voting Alderman
Peal. The Mayor declared carried as there were six votes in favor of the motion
- and one against it.
There being no further business,Alderman Ucker moved that the Council adjourn.
Alderman Bronson seconded this motion which carried unanimously and the Mayor decla
ed the Council adjourned.

Fayetteville City Council met in regular session Julyl5th,1935.
Mayor_AaD McAllister, City Clerk Otoe Phillips, Acting Chief of Police Earl Hand,
City Attorney Rex Perkins. Aldermen: Bronson, Bynum, Carter, Gregory, Saunders,
Shook and Ucker. Absent: Alderman Peal, and City Engineer E M Ratliff.
The minutes of the regular meeting of July 8th, were read and after correcting to
read '"the Mayor appoint a man to act in marking cars for 30 days°instead of naming
a particular man, were approved.
The following bills were presented after their approval by Chairman of Auditing
Committee: Coles Cash Store $66.00; Campbell Grocery $66.00; A F Shumate $18.00; Ben
Porter $15.00; Bohe Grocery $2.00 and $61.25; Deane G Carter $8.84; Mayor McAllister
$63.75 and 0 V1 Stapleton $61.25. Alderman Gregory moved that the bills be allowed
as sp proved and the Clerk instructed to draw warrants upon the proper funds in payme
of same. Alderman Ucker seconded this motion which carried unanimously.
A bill from the Fayetteville Ice Co., for $16.50 for ice accounts of Spetember 1932
and June and September 1933 was presented. Alderman Sanders moved that this bill be
allowed. This motion was seconded by Alderman Carter and -Jas duly passed by the
Council, and the Cleric was instructed to issue a warrant in favor of Fayetteville Ice
Company in payment of this bill.
The Fayetteville Ice Company also presented a bill for $610.00 covering difference on
Auto License issued in 1934 for 11 Ton Truck and a half -ton truck on which the licens
was used. The, matter had been previously presented and was accompanied with a sworn
00�statement of the claim as requested by the Council. Alderman Ucker-,moved that this
claim be allowed. The motion was seconded by Alderman Shook, carried unanimously and
the Clerk was instructed to issue check for $10.00 to FayettevilleIce Co.
The matter of the Ordinance entitled :"An Ordinance regulating signs hanging or
,extending over walks of,the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,and related purposes. left
on its second reading on Monday July 8th,1935 was brought to the attention of the
Council by the Clerk. Alderman Sanders moved that the Ordinance be placed on its
third and final reading. This motion was seconded by Alderman Bynum, and upon the
Clerk's calling the roll, the following vote resulted: Ayes: Aldermen Bynum, Carter,
Gregory,Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Nayes: None, The Mayor declared carried as there
were six Ayes and no Nayes; and the Clerk read the Ordinance the Third and final
time. The Mayor then put the question: "Shall the Ordinance Pass"7 Upon the Clerk's
calling the roll, the following vote resulted: Ayes:None. Nayes:'Aldermen Bynum,
Carter;.,.Gregory, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. The Mayor declared defeated asdthere
were six Nayes and no Ayes.
Ozark Liquor Store asked for permit to erect an electric sign at their place of
business on College Avenue. Alderman Gregory moved that the matter be referred to
Street Committee to investigate and report. Alderman Carter seconded this motion
which received the entire vote of the Council.
Rogers Electric Co. asked permission to erect an Electric Sign at Wilson Motor Col.9
place of business oAest Mountain st., and Brewer Electric Co.,asked permission
to erect an Electric Sign at the Hague Cafe.VVest tickson st. Alderman Sanders moved
that these permits be granted to be done under supervision of City Inspector. Alderma
Bronson seconded the motion which carried unanimously.
A petition was presented, signed by a number of property owners on fourth Block of
South I-Villow street, asking to have a fence removed and City property opened to traffic.
Alderman Sanders moved that the matter be left to the Street Committee. The motion
was seconded by Alderman Gregory and carried unanimously

Messrs Hugh Rogers, L L Baxter, W S Duggans and J E Brewer appeared before the
Council representing the Plumbing, Electric and Gas Fitting Contractors of the 8ity,
asking that the Council give careful consideration to the appointment of a man for t
Office of City Inspector which is soon to be filled; stating that it was most impor-
tant that a man holing this position be thoroughly acquainted with what represented
a finished job in:.either of these lines of,workmanship. Alderman Sanders moved
that the Mayor appoint a Committee of three from the dity Council to confer with the
above contractors. Alderman Carter seconded the motion which carried unanimously
and the Mayor appointed Alderman Sanders, Gregory and Carter to act as this Committ
The matter of contribution toward operation for, Goiter on Mrs Gooding was brought up
Alderman Bynum moved that the City contribute $15.00 toward this expense if the
County and other Agencies would contribute balance necessary. Alderman Carter
seconded this motion which was duly,passed by the Council,
Relative to neva Parking Ordinance, Alderman Gregory moved that the Mayor appoint a
Committee of,three to meet with the Civil Service Commission relative to appointing
a man to mark cars. This motion was seconded by Alderman Carter and carried
unanimously. The Mayor appointed Aldermen Carter, Sanders and Bynum to meet with
the Civil Service Commission and arrange this matter.
W. C. Jackson, building contractor, asked permission to cut curb for drive -way at
Marinoni Apartments on North College Avenue. Alderman Bynum moved that the request
be granted, work to be done under supervision of City Engineer, Alderman Ucker
seconded the motion which received the unanimous vote of the Council.
Alderman Bronson brought to the attention of the Council that South College Avenue
Improvement District No.l needed the services of a third Commissioner to take the
place of M LU Moore, deceased, to close up the District; stating that the other two
Commissioners, I W Guisinger and Ivan M Mayes had suggested R A Scott for -this place.
Alderman Ucker moved that R,A Scott be appointed as this Commissioner on South
College Avenue Improvement District No.l. Alderman Bynum seconded this motion and
same was unanimously passed by the,Council•
The matter of disposing of,the old tractor was brought to the attention of the
Council. Alderman Sanders moved that the Chairman of the Street Committee, Alderman
Bynum,be authorized to sell the old tractor. Alderman Bronson seconded the motion
which was unanimously passed by the Council.
Alderman Gregory moved that the Council go into Executive Session. Alderman Bronson
seconded this motion which/carried unanimously,,and the Mayor declared the Council in
Executive Session. Attorney Price Dickson stated that not much headway was being
made in the Neal Cruse case and that same was still in the hands of the Supreme
Court, Mr Dickson also explained ways and means of repealing Civil Service Act No.f
of 1933, stating that the Governor should include this for Amendment or Repeal in the
Special Call of the Legislature which is being proposed,
and moved its adoption,
Alderman Gregory introduced the following Resolution,�asking the Govern9r to include
Act No.28 of 1933 for Amendment or Repeal,in the Special Called Session of,the
Legislature which will possibly be made. Alderman Ucker seconded this motion which
received the unanimous vote,of the Council. The Mayor declared carried.
R s o l u t i o n.
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Council of the City of
Fayetteville, Arkansas, that there is a probability of a special session of the
Legislature of the State of Arkansas: and
WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, has experienced considerable difficulty
and incurred considerable expense•in attempting to administer Act No.28 of the Acts
of Arkansas for the year 1933, being the Act Commonly designated as a Civil Service
Commission Act:
NOV1, THEREFORE, Be it resolved that,in the event such
called, the Governor of the State of Arkansas include
the repeal of Act 28,of the Acts of 1933 aforesaid.
