The minutes of regular meeting June 24th,1935 were read and approved. Lr

and Cement Company $$22.10. Alderman Bronson Bronson moved that the bills be allowed
approved and the Clerk be.instructed to draw warrants for same upon the proper funds
This motion was seconded by Alderman Shook and received the unanimous vote of the
Council.
The Crescent Drug Store asked permission to hang sign over sidewalk from building
corner of Block and •West Mountain st. Alderman Gregory moved that permit be
granted, same to be doneunder supervision of City Inspector. This motion was
seconded by Alderman Ucker and received the unanimous vote of the Council..
A request was read from Elmer Norvood, asking permission to erect a Marquise in
front of Fayetteville Drug Store's new location on East side of -Square -Harrison Bldg.
size 10 x 18 similar to the one in front of Cardinal Drug Store,430 West Dickson at.
Alderman Ucker moved that this request be granted to be done under supervision of
City Inspector, ;'Alderman Bronson seconded this motion and same was unanimously
passed by the Council.
Dr Hathcock asked the assistance of the City Council to the amount of $$15.00 in
seriding a Mrs Gooding to a Hospital in Springfield, Mo., for a goiter operation.
The matter was carried over.
R E Wages tendered his resignation as City Inspector, to take effect August 1,1935,
stat ing'that'he��had accepted_;theipbs`itioii of`SiiperintonaAfti of the Springdale Water
Works, Alderman Bronson moved that the resignation of Mr Gages be accepted. This -
motion was seconded by Alderman Bynum, and carried unanimously.. .Mr Wages expressed
appreciation if the find cooperation from the City Council during his tenure ad
City Inspector.
Application for operation of the following Liquor Stores was read:
Ozark Liquor Store, Jack Holt, No.9 North College Ave. Ozark Theatre Bldg.
Crescent Drug Store,J P West, Mrs J P West and 0 W McCleary,17 South Blk st., South-
West Corner of Public Square.
Hob -Nob Liquor Store, W T Adams,404 West Dickson at
Retail Liquor Store, VJ M Hudson, 119 West Mountain st.
Alderman Gregory moved that license be issued to e-�.ch of these liquor stores. This
motion was seconded by Alderman Carter and carried unanimously.
J W Cohea asked permission to cut pavement at intersection of Scott and Campbell
streets. Alderipan Bronson moved that this permit be granted, work to be done under
supervision of City Engineer. Alderman Ucker seconded this motion which was duly
passed by the Council.
R E Kennard appeared before the Council, calling attention to the bad condition of
East Lafayette st.,just outside the City limits, and adting the City to do snething
toward improving this entrance to the City. Alderman Bynum moved that the City
grader be used in bettering the condition of this strip of road. Alderman Bronson
seconded the motion which received the unanimous vote of the Council.

The matt6r of new Parking Zone Ordinance and marking of cars was brought up for

discussion. Alderman Sanders moved that the Mayor employ ;as_ man: -c for 30 days at
$25,00j for that period to mark cars; this not to be under Civil Service Commission*

motion was seconded by Alderman Bynum and carried unanimously.

A request was made by V V Hudson to put up an awning at dornery6f Church and W Moun
street. Alderman Gregory moved that this be allowed. Motion was seconded by Aldermi
Sanders and was duly passed by the Council.

Alderman Gregory introduced an Ordinance entitled -"An ordinance regulating signs
hanging or extending over walks of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, amd_other
signs:
related purposes. Alderman Sanders moved that the Ordinance be placed on its
second reading. Alderman Carter seconded this motion, and upon the Clerk's calling
the roll, the following vote resulted: Ayes: Aldermen Bronson,Bynum, Carter, Gregory
Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Absent and not voting Alderman Peal. Nayes: None, The
Mayor declared carried; and the Clerk read the Ordinance the second time. After
discussion,Alderman Sanders moved that the Ordinance be left on its second reading
until next Monday night July 15th, Alderman Bynum seconded this motion and upon the
Clerk calling the roll, the following vote resulted. Ayes: Aldermen: Bronson, Bynum,
Co.

Alderman Peal. The Mayor declared carried.
}Executive Alderman Bronson moved that the Oouncil go into executive session, which motion was
seconded by Alderman Bynum. After the room was cleared, the Mayor declared the,
ession: Council in Executive Session.. Acting Chief of Police Earl Hand stated that the
liquor proposition as to bootleggers, under existing laws, gives the police no
power. He stated that he could get sales on the boot-leggers but did not want to
pay for the purchase. Alderman Bronson moved that $lOwOO be allowed Mr Hand to
carry on. Alderman Ucker seconded this motion. On the question being put before
the Council, the following vote resulted: Ayes: Aldermen, Bronson, Bynum, Carter
Gregory, Shook and Ucker. Nayes: Alderman Sarrlers. Absent and not voting Alderman
Peal. The Mayor declared carried as there were six votes in favor of the motion
and one against it.
There being no further business,Alderman Ucker moved that the Council adjourn.
Alderman Bronson seconded this motion which carried unanimously and the Mayor decla
ed the Council adjourned.

City Attorney Rex Perkins. Aldermen: Bronson, Bynum, Carter, Gregory, Saunders,
Shook and Ucker. Absent: Alderman Peal, and City Engineer E M Ratliff.
The minutes of the regular meeting of July 8th, were read and after correcting to
read "'the Mayor appoint a man to act in marking cars for 30 days°instead of namiigr
a particular man, were approved.
Bills: The following bills were presented after their approval by Chairman of Auditing
Committee: Coles Cash Store $6.00; Campbell Grocery $6.00; A F Shumate $18.00; Ben
Porter $15.00; Bohe Grocery $2.00 and '$1.25; Deane G Carter $8.84; Mayor McAllister
$3.75 and 0 V1 Stapleton .$`p1.25. Alderman Gregory moved that the bills be allowed
as ep proved and the Clerk instructed to draw warrants upon the proper funds in payme
of same. Alderman Ucker seconded this motion which carried unanimously.
Fire Dep A bill from the Fayetteville Ice Co., for $?16.50 for ice accounts of Spetember 1932
Ice bill* and June and September 1933 was presented. Alderman Sanders moved that this bill be
allowed. This motion was seconded by Alderman Carter and was duly passed by the
Council, and the Clerk was instructed to issue a warrant in favor of Fayetteville Ice
Company in payment of this bill.
Truck The Fayetteville Ice Company also presented a bill for $p10.00 covering difference on
Refund: Auto License issued in 1934 for 12 Ton Truck and a half -ton truck on which the licens
was used. The matter had been previously presented and was accompanied with a sworn
Fay Ice .lo•�statement of the claim as requested by the Council. Alderman UckeY?-imoved that this
claim be allowed. The motion was seconded by Alderman Shook, carried unanimously and
the Clerk was instructed to issue check for $$10.00 to FayettevilleIce Co.

Council by the Clerk. Alderman Sanders moved that the Ordinance be placed on its
third and final reading. This motion was seconded by Alderman Bynum, and upon the
Clerk's calling the roll, the following vote resulted: Ayes: Aldermen Bynum, Carter,
Gregory,Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Nayes: None. The Mayor declared carried as there
were six Ayes and no Nayes; and the Clerk read the Ordinance the Third and final
time. The Mayor then put the question: "Shall the Ordinance Pass"? Upon the Clerk's
calling the roll, the following vote resulted: Ayes:None. Nayes:'Aldermen Bynum,
Car.ter;,,.Gregory, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. The Mayor declared defeated asdthere
were six Nayes and no Ayes.
Ozark Liquor Store asked for permit to erect an electric sign at their place of
business on College Avenue. Alderman Gregory moved that the matter be referred to th
Street Committee to investigate and report. Alderman Carter seconded this motion
which received the entire vote of the Council.
Rogers Electric Co., asked permission to erect an Electric Sign at Wilson Motor Co:p
place of business onWest Mountain st., and Brewer Electric Co.,asked permission
to erect an Electric Sign at the Hague Cafe,lVest Dickson st. Alderman Sanders moved
that these permits be granted to be done under supervision of City Inspector. Alderma
Bronson seconded the motion which carried unanimously.
A petition was presented, signed by a number of property owners on fourth Block of
South Willow street, asking to have a fence removed and City property opened to traff
Alderman Sanders moved that the matter be left to the Street ommittee. The motion
was seconded by Alderman Gregory and carried unanimously
