Called Called meeting of the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, held
Meeting: Friday. April 26th,1935,7:30 P M.
The Council was called together at 7:30 P M by Mayor Ile McAllister to discuss
ways and means of obtaining right of way for extending Highway #62 from East
end of Wall st to Highway #71 on School st.
Present: Mayer A D McAllister, City Clerk Otoe Phillips. City Engineer E M Ratliff; Aldermen:
Bronson, Bynum, Carter, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker.Absent: Alderman Gregory.
7u,62 Hight Alderman Ucker moved that the Mayo ppoint a committee'of r'our to confercaith
of the Mayor at a time that mi?ht be named, to discuss the matter of Right of Way
Way with A B Stone. This motion was seconded by Alderman Shook, and carried
unanimously. The Mayor then appointed as this Committee: Alderman Ucker,Bynum,
Sanders and Bronson and asked them to meet at his office -Saturday morning 9:o'clo.k
to confer with Mr Stone.
The business being finished,Alderan Ucker moved that the meeting bel adjourned.
This motion was seconded by !nAlderman Carter and was unanimously passed by the
Council

The Fayetteville City Council met in regular session April 29th,1935.
Mayor A D McAllister, City Clerk Otoe Phillips, City Engineer E M Ratliff,
Acting Chief of Police Earl Hand, Aldermen: Bronson, Bynum, Carter, Gregory,
Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker.
Minutes of the regular meeting held April 22nd, were read and.approved.
The following bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairrpan
of the Auditing Committee: FI K Edwards x^2.50; C V Day +'4.00; C V Day X2.50; J W Shq

approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants upon the proper funds in
payment of same. This motion was seconded by Alderman Carter and received the
unanimous vote of the Council.
The certification of Bob Day as Day Patrollman by Civil Service Commission, C P.
L- Dodd, Acting Secretary, was read by the Clerk. Alderman Sanders moved that the
same be received and filed. The motion was seconded by Alderman Peal and carried
unanimously.
The City General Election bill amounting to $117. attested as requested by the Ci
Council was presented. Alderman Sanders moved that the same be allowed. This
motion was seconded by Alderman Bynum and was unanimously passed by the Council.
The Finance Committee's report on Resolution of Telephone Co., was deferred until
next week.
D3�. K. 0. Warner, Director of the Arkansas Municipal League, appeared before the
Council and explained recent legislation affecting Citibs, and recommended the
establishment of a City Planning Commission, mentioning that some of the things
that would come udder the Commission's work would be parks and recreational areas,
zoning, public buildings, housing plans; stating thatwhether or not the City has
money to spend beautifying, this Planning Commission would establish a long time
plan, looking toward a time wherithe City would have money to carry out plans. Dr.
Warner also mentioned that some of the things which might come under supervision
of such a Commission are a Library Building and Jail.
A report was given on Mt Sequayah paving, and the Mayor asked that the Committee
confer further with Supterintendant Yancy as to the location of the City's part
of this paving.
Relative to Right of Way on Highway 1¢62 and A B Stone property, Alderman Sanders
moved that the acting Committee appoint an arbitrator for the City to work with
one selected by Mr Stone, and a third to be selected by these two, to act in
decidingN*on the probable value of the land used. This motion was seconded by
Alderman Ucker and carried unanimously.

Alderman Sanders stated that he had conferred with the County Judge as to the

No further business,Alderman Ucker moved that the Council adjourn. Alderman Gregor
seconded the motion which was duly passed by the Council and the Mayor declared the
Council adjo fined.
