Fayetteville City Council met in regular session Monday March 25th,1935.

Present: Mayor Tribble, City Attorney Rex Perkins, City Engineer E M Ratliff, Aldermen: Bynum,
Gregory, McAllister, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Stanford. Acting phief of Police
M E Hand. Absent: Alderman Witt Carter..
Minutes of the regular meeting held March 18th, were read and approved.
Bills: The following bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Peal Chairman
of the Auditing Committee: C. V. Day $4.50; A W Gray �p2.50; C A Pearson Judg@ $4.10;
Bohe Grocer] Co. $12.00; Ben Porter $15.00; A F Shumate $18.00;Ozark Grocery $4.25;
Montgomery Ward & Co. $14.85; Alderman MacAllister moved that the bills be allowed
as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants for the same upon the
proper. funds. this motion was seconded by Alderman Bynum and was duly passed by the
Council, and the Mayor so declared.
A letter was read from Mrs Salina R.eep with reference to hell position on the
Board of Commissioners on Water Improvement No. 2. The Clerk was instructed to
Commis'r ask J A Peterson to recommend a Commissioner to take the place of Mrs Reep on this
Water #2 Board of Coimniioners.
A letter was read from JJ P,eatt, Secy-Treas. City Welfare Board with reference to
the City's contribution of 100.00 per ,year, payable quarterly, toward the support
of City Welfare Board. Alderman Bynummoved that the first installment of $25.00
be issued payable to the Welfare Board. Alderman Peal seconded this motion which
received the unanimous vote of the Council. The Mayor declared carried.
A letter from Allen M Wilson calling attention to the unhealthful condition prevailig
on the West side of Northwest St. Alderman Gregory moved that the Health officer
make proper order to property otners to make connectionswith sewer. This motion
was seconded by Alderman Bynum, and was duly passed by the Council.
G E Ripley: Mr. G. E. Ripley appeared before the Council at the request of President Futrall
of the University of Arkansas, asking the Council.to prevent, if' possible, any
saloons being placed near the University. As a tgst case as to the validity of
the three-mile Law is being made, no action was taken.
Mayor Tribble asked the Finance Committee to take up with the Frisco RR Coo, and
the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., the matter `of their unpaid taxes to Hospital
and Fire Department for the years 1933 and 1934.
Dr Lefever appeared before the Council stating that he was establishing a Free
Clinic for unemployables over Cole's CashStore, stating that he estimated the
overhead expense would be in the neighborhood of $1.00 per day.. asking the
Council to share this expense. The Mayor appointed a Committee consisting of
Aldermen Sanders, Bynum and McAllister to confer with the County Welfare Board with
reference to the matter and report Monday April 1st.
There being no further business, Alderman Sanders moved to adjourn. This motion
was seconded.by Alderman Bynum, and carried unanimously, and the Mayor declared the
Council ad..iogrned.

Mr. Oscar Vlilliams explained' progress on three mile law.test!ease and liquor laws of
Arkansas.
Alderman Carter stated that J V67 Shelley regular garbage^collector asks that disposal
of dead animals be turned over to him. The matter was carried over until Monday
night the 8th,
The Finance Committee, Aldermen Shook, Gregory and Peal presented a proposed budget

A letter was read from A H Clement outlining condition of drainage on
South Duncan
street. The same was received and filed for attention.
The Committee on offer of Dr Lefevre Free Clinic reported they were not
able to
see Judge Jackson with reference to County Welfare Board,

Alderman Shook moved that the proposed budget be adopted. This motion was seconded
by Alderman Bynum. .Upon the motion being put before the Council, the following vote
resulted: Ayes: Aldermen Bynum, Carter, Gregoyy, McAllister, Peal, Senders, Shook
and Stanford.
The cost of feeding City prisoners at the County Jail was brought to the attention of
the Council. Alderman Sanders moved that the Mayor appoint a ommittee to consider
the advisability of building a .jail., The motion was seconded by Alderman Carter, sizd
carried-)unanimously..'The-nMayor_appo.inted Aldermen Carter, Peal, Sanders as this
Committee.
There being no further business,
seconded by Alderman Sanders and
adjourned.
