Fayetteville City Council met in regular session March 18th,1935,
Present: Mayor Tribble, City Attorney Rex Perkins, City Engineer E M Ratliff, Alderman Bynum,
Carter, Gregory,McAllister, Peal, Sanders, Shook, andStanford. Acting Chief of Police -
Earl Hande Absent: City Clerk Otoe Phillips.
Minutes of the regular meeting held March O th, 1935, were read and approved.
Bills: The following billswere presented after their approval by the Auditing Committee, J C
Peal, Chairman: Bohe Grocery $$1.05; Fred Eden $2.50; Connie Day $$14.75; Jno Zillah
2.50;Elmer Weir $5.00;.Ben Porter $15.00; A F Shumate $18.00;.R & R Paint and Adv Co.
46.73; BolleGrocery $$10.50; Southwestern Gas & Electric Co. $$314.10; Guy Miles $$5.75;
Heerwagen Bros. $.98;InterState Directory Co.%Heber Page, $$8.00. Alderman Carter
moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk instructed to pay bills
out of the proper funds. This motion was seconded by Alderman Shook, and was
duly passed by the Council.
Alderman Peal moved that
the Ordinance Committee working
with the CityAttorney draft
Ordinance requiring dog owners
to have dogs
vaccinated for
rabies, with penalty
attached in the Ordinance.
Alderman Shook

motion andupon the question
being put resulted in the
following vote:
Ayes: Bynum,
Carter, Gregory,MeAllister,
Peal, Shook and Stanford.
Nayes: Alderman

draft Ordinance outlined.
Eli
Faubus: Eli Faubus appeared and asked City Councilto open up ditch near his property on
Second street. The matter was referred to Street Committee.

2 District: A letter was read from J A Peterson, Chairman of Water Improvement District No.2,
asking the Council to deternine the Statu's of Mrs William Reep to serve as Commissione
in this District, as it is understood that she is a permanent resident of anther town.
Alderman Bynum moved that the City Clerk be asked to get information as to Mrs Reep's
whereabouts and of her ability to serve as a commissioner. This motion was seconded b
Alderman McAllister and received the unanimous vote of the Council.
Stop Signs:Thnatler of Stop Signs came up for discussion. Alderman Peal moved that the City
Clerjj�s get in touch with Oklahoma City, Okla., and find out which Company is furnishing
that City with Stop Signs. This motion was seconded by Alderman Shook and was duly
passed by the Council.
The question of determining the validity of the Arkansas three-mile State law passed
in 1875 as regards selling wines and other liquors within three miles of the
University of Arkansas came up for discussion. City Atty., Rex Perkins suggested that
the quickest way to get the question cleared is to take it through the Courts and get
Supreme Court decision. Alderman Sanders moved that a test case be made of this by
the City of Fayetteville. Alderman Gregory seconded this motion and upon the question
being put resulted in the following vote: Ayes: Aldermen: Bynum, Carter, Gregory,
McAllister, Peal, Sanders, Shook, Nayes: Alderman Stanford. The May or declared
carried.

Mgrs. Bynum moved that the,,carried over to another meeting. Alderman Carter seconded the
ity Water motion and upon the question being put resulted in the unanimous vote of the Council.
Plant: The Mayor declared carried.
There beingno further business,Alderman Peal moved that the Council adjourn. Alderman
Gregory seconded the motion which was duly passed by the Council and the Mayor
declared the Council adjourned.
