The Flyetteville City Council met in revular session November 12th,1934,

A communication from Prof. K. 0. Werner, regarding work being done by the Arkansas
Municipal League in connection with the refunds due Improvement Districts by the
Highway Pepzrtment. No action was taken. The Mayor urged the Council to make it
possible for the City to become a member of the Municipal League.
A request by Bryan Wonl[ of Springdale, Pii?kansas, for permission to eonbtruct a
hanger for his plane on the Fayette^ills Air -%-Port was read. Alderman Gregory
moved that the matter be referred to the City Engineer vith po-ver to act. This
motion was seconded by Alderman Carter, and upon question hemp, put, the motion
carried unanimously and the Mayor so declared.
i,1r Ball requested a grade for sidewalk on Lindell Avenue. Alderman Sanders moved
that the City Engineer be*instrncted to establish Stich grade. This motinn was
seconded by Alderman Peel, and was unanimously carried by the Councilnmen'present, and
was so declared by the Mayor.
H M Hosford requested uernission to cut the curb on ti';est Maple street, immediately
W&st of Gregg street for a drive -way. Alderman Bynum moved that the request be
;;rNr.ted under the supervision of the City Engineer. This motion was seconded ',y
Alderman VcAllister. The motioncarried unanimously and was so decided �y the Mavor.
A motion wss'made by Alderman McAllister ani seconded ^y Alderman Gregory that Mrs.
B, i',. Wilson, 7 L Nettleship, J J Pyeatt, together with two members of the City
Council to be appointed '`y the Mayor, constitute, the City of Favettevillej elfare
`card;' The Wavor thenuut the motion and the following vote resulted: Ayes:Bynum,
Crrter,-Gregory,McAllister, Peal Rind Sanders, Shook. Absent -not voting: Aldermen
Stanford, The Ma7br declared the, motion carried.
The Mayor then appointed Alderman Carter and YeAllister as the two City Council
members of the "'elfare Board.
Alderman Sanders moved that the Mayor and Chairmen of the Finance committee be
instructed to confer with the County Judge regarding the responsibility for the
burial of paupers who reside in the City Limits. This motion was seconded by
Alderman Carter and was unanimously carried by the Council and so declared by the
Mayor.
At this point Alderman Gregory asked for Permission to register a Protest in
connection with the action of the City Council in making the various City Levies,
stating that as a consideration that there be no City Hospital Levy this ,year, he
had voted for the increase in the City Bond Fund and Airport levies and that the
Council at a subsequent meeting, in his absence, had voted to include the Hospital
levy: thereby increasing the total levy and making.an Increased burden on the tax
pavers. Mr Gregory stated that he did not feel that the action of the Council
could be changed but that he did feel that he was entitled to a record protest in
view of the extenuating'circumstances. Alderman Shook moved that Alderman Gregory's
statement, in substance, be made a matter of record in the minutes of the Council
meeting. This motion was seconded by Alderman Carter and received the
followingb vote: Ayes: Alderman Bynum, Carter, Gregory, McAllister, Peal, Sanders,
Shook. lbsent and not voting Alderman Stanford, The Mayor declared the motion
