Present: Mayor T S Tribble, City Clerk Otoe Phillips, City Engineer F MRatliff, Chief of Police Neal Cruse.' Aldermen: Bynum, Carter,Gregory,lvicArl-ister',Peal, Sanders, Shook and Stanford . Minutes of the regular meeting October 8th, 1934 were read :tnd approved. Bills' The following hi.11s were presented after their approval by ',alderman Peal, Chairman of the Auditing Committee: Southwest Bell Telephone, Co., 432,65; J H Shelley 47.50; Ben:Portor 415,00; A F Shumate 418,00; J I Holcomb I/mfg Co. 426.88. Alderman Bynum moved that the hillshe allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants for same upon the prolm r funds. Alderman McAllister seconded the motion which received the unanimous vote of the 4ouncil. Fire Come The Fire Committee asked that their report be allowed to be carried over. The matter of R E 1'lages Bond referred to Rex Perkins, Citv.Attorney,was carried over in the absence of the City Attorney. Fire Dept The Placing of Fire Department Groun Accident Insurance was presented. A motion Insuranc -was made by Alderman Carter and seconded by Aldernan Bynum that the vote he taken by secret hallott,l-: This'.motaonlcar-rip.`d""unanirnously. The result of vote was that Eason & Company redeived .five votes and Cravens & Company three. The Mayor declared Eason & Company'A .policy in force, and instructed City Clerk Otoe Phillip to notify Eason & Company, and file the policy, urb Pump. A communication from Lewis Service Station, East Wountai.n street, formerly known as Carrington Oil Co., was read, asking permission to move two gasoline Pumps at their station to the curb. Alderman Bynum made a motion whuch was seconded by Alderman Gregoy that the matter be referred to City Engineer E M Ratliff for report at next meeting of the. Council. V! S Pol- The hearing of protest of 'N S Pollard against benefit assessed on his property in lard ',"later Asses:n'ier-t No.3 came up for consideration as announced. After discussion of Protest: this matter by VI S Pollardard J S Jamison, Commissioner of said Improvement T.i: t._ District,,. Alderman Sanders made a motion whidnh was seconded by Alderman Peal that the assessment be placed as of 1933. This motion received the unanimous vote of the Council, a^rl the Mayor declared carried. There being, no further business, Alderman Sanders moved to adjourn. A letter wasrread from L L Browne, Superintendant of Building & Grounds, Universi- ty of Arl,ansas,asking permission to cut, the Curb on Arkans^s Ave.,to make Present entrance larger. Aldermn Sanders moved that the request be granted, work tohe done under supervision of City F'n�,ineer, F V Ratliff. Alderman Gregory seconded the motion :•ihich received the entire vote of the Council. Annual Reports of South Collece Ave. Improvement District No.l and A-^nex Diol to South College %mvenue Improvemc-n.t District •I4o.1 vero read; also final report of Mount Nord Improvement District, shovaing that all known obligations of the Distric t.has been pe id, and a hal--ince of 6194.31 refunded to property owners in Proportion to his tenth annual assessment. Commissioners of Mount Nord Imp, District aslring that they be discharged. Alderm ;n Gregory moved that the reports be received and filed, and the request of the Mount Fiord Commis iorers be granted, This motion was seconded by Alderman McAllister and received the unanimous vote ofl the Council and th•r Mayor declared carried. I The report of the Fire. Committee was carrierl over. r TUT Ratliv'f reported work of his Committee on Man1P Street Sidewalk to the effect 143 that all parties interviewed were willing that the sidewalk be laid in accordance with plans, and only three property owners had not been interviewed. The folloeJing Resolution from Fire Committee was introducted: Be it Resolved by the City Council of Fayett€+yillg,Arkansas, that the sum of d;316.1.4' be obtained from the Street Fund as a loan for the nurrlose of paying the past due bill on the repairs of the Fire House and that the above amount be Paid back out of the first moneys urocured and deposited in the General Fund. Nayess Alderman Gropory, The Mayor declared carried'. The matter of the Tax Levy came up .for discussion, Alderman Peal moved that the General Fund Levy be placed at five (5) mills on the dollar. This motion was seconded by Alderman Bynum, and carried unanimously. A mo*.ion was then made by Alderman Grngory and seconded by Alderman Shook that the levy for the Fire Fund be placed at one and one half (11) mills on the, rb llar. This vote,hcarried unani- mously. Alderman Sanders moved thzt the levy for the Funding Rend and Flying Field be fixed at two mills each on the dollar. This mot ion was seconded by . Alderman Stanford. After further discussion, Alderman Peal moved that the motion be amended to make the levy two and one half "ills (2Z-) on kach dollar of assessed valuation, real and personal property. This motion wQs seconded by Alderman Stanford and carried unanimously, and the Maror so declared. On the motion as amended reing nut before the Council it carried unanimously and the Mayor so declared.
