Ordinance No. 775..
An Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance to provide for an Extension of North St.,
Fayetteville, Arkanasa, as a Public treat "cross the right of way and Tracks of
St Louis -'an rrancisco Railway at Grade; to Declare Such Grade Crossing, Hazardous and
to require motor vehicle drivers to stop, look and listen Before Crossing, ?ame: to
Declare ar.JF4nnrgeney and for all Other "Plated Purposes."
Be it ordAined by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas;
Section 1. It is hereby provided that North street, in tre City of Fayetteville,
Arkansas, shall be constructed, extended qnd maintained from its rresent terminus ove
and across the right of way and railraod tracks now existing, or hereafter installed,
of the St. Louis -San Francisco Railway, at a grade crossing, and said street and
grade crossing shall he a public street, subject to all laws and ordinances relating
to public streets in said "ity of Fayetteville.
Section 2. The said grade crossing of said North Street over and across said rail
road tracks is here by declared to be a hazardous crossing, and it shall be. unlawful for
anv driver to drive or propel any automobile, automobile truck, or other motor driven
vehicle upon either of said railroad tracks without first bringing said motor vehicle
to a full stop at a distance of not less than ten feet nor more than fifty feet
fm m the nearest track, and then and there looking and listening for approaching
engine, train or cars.
Section 3. Any persn, owner or driver of any automobile, truck, motorcycle or other
motor driven vehicle violating this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
and upon conviction shall be fined in any sum not less than $5.00 nor more than
425.00.
lection 4. Whereas, motor vehicle traffic has been constantly increasing, and accidents
to persons and property at grade crossings of railraods are numerous, and proper care
-by such drivers of motor vehicles is essential to the existence of safety, an emergency i
is hereby declared, and th,s ordinance shall he in force -And effect from the date of
its passage.

Alderman Gregory made the motion seconded by Alderman Peal that the Veterinarian
reports as read before the Council be received and filed the motion carried
unanimously.
Ad.iourhedNo futher business Alderman Bynum made the motion that the Council adlo-)rn., the
otion was seconded by Alderman Peal and received the entire vote of the Council.
The Mayor declared the Council adjourned.

Fayetteville City Council met in regular session Monday May 21st,1934,
Prese Mayor T. S. Tribble, City Clerk Otoe Phillips, City Attorney Rex Perkins, City
Tngineer E M Ratliff, Chief of Police Neal Cruse, Alderman, Bynum, Gregory,
McAllister, Peal, Shook, Stanford. Absent Carter and Sanders.
Minutes of the regular meeting held May 14th were read an approved.
The following hills were presented after their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman
of the auditing, committee: S W Gas & Elec. Co. $314.10, John Zillah $v10.00,
Sen Porter 815.00, H. Greathouse$63.60, Abshier Bryan '8t37.23, A F Shumate $18.00,
"1. '�. Campbell �,12.5n. Alderman Bynum moved that the bills be allowed as approved
and that the clerk he instructed to draw warrants for"theesamel%upon the proper funds
The motion was seconded by Alderman Gregory and carried unanimously.

Mounts, in Street. Alderman Stanford made the motion seconded by Alderman Bynum
that this be prarted the same to be under the sPpervision�of^therCity Engineer.
The motion was carried unanimously.
The ordinance introduced relative to the license fees on slot machines
was carried over until the next meeting.
!'I S Campbell appeared before the Council stating, thU the United Sates good road
association was meeting at Ft. Smith June the 11th to ,tune 13th and at this meeting
the Chamber of `'dmmerce wishes that Fayetteville, have a page advertisement in the
bulletin that is to he distributed, the Copt. of the page advertisement being $`25.00
the Chamber of Commerce asked that the City pay 412.50 of this amount, by motion
of Alderman Bvnum seconded by "lderman Peal and passed unanimously by the council
this amount was paid.
Chief of Police Neal Cruse appeared before the Council asking., that guns to direct
traffic be placed on the streets. By motion of alderman Bvnum Seconded by Alderman
Gregory the Mayor was authorized to Purch&e ^the e6nece's sqrjr si,gns.'and mar}crtheostreets.
No further business Alderman McAllister made the motion seconded by alderman Peal
that the Council "djourn the motion passed unanimously and the MNyor declared the
