Timeraency Clause carried unanimously.
A rising vote of thanks was given the retiring Officials Llderman Harding,
Wages and Citv Attorney Virgil Ramsey for past services rendered, at the suggestion
of the Mayor.
Alderman Stanford made a motion that the City Attorney file the necessary papers
with the County Court concerning; the Annexation of the Veterans Hospital Site
which was.voted upon in the General Election. The motion was seconded by
Alderman Carter and carried unanimously.
Alderman Pages then made the motion that the Council adjourn Sine Die. This motion
was seconded by Alderman Peal and Pecevied the unanimous vote of the Council.
The Mayor declared the Council adjourned Sine Die.

The Mayor then called the new Council together. Mayor 'C S Tribble administered
the oath of office to the newly elected officers as .follows: City Clerk, Otoe
Phillips, Alderman Ward 1, I'litt Carter, Pard 2, Earl Shook, Pard 3, A D McAllister,
Ward 4 John Bynum. City Attorney Rex Perkins.
Alderman Carter made the -motion seconded bv'Alde.rman Stanford and carried
unanimously by the council that E M Ratliff have charge of the rental of the
old Aviation Field.
Alderman Peal made the motion that the Mayor declare the week beginning with April 16t
as Clean up weak the motion was seconded by Alderman Carter and •cnrried'.uncrnimously.
Alderman Carter made t.�. e motion seconded by Alderman Gregory and passed unanimously
by the Council that the Mayor, City Engineer and the Chairman of the Street
Commissioners have charge of marki..P or' -the Streets.
Mavor Tribble appointed newly elected 1�lderman to serve on.the same.Committee of the
outgoing Alderman in the same wards..
No further business Alderman Peal made the motion that the Council adjourn, the
motion was seconded by Alderman Stanford and received the entire vote of the Council.
The Mayor decalrlb the Council adjourned.

Fayetteville City Council met in regular session Monday April 16,1934,
Present: Alderman Peal, Carter, Stanford, Me Allister and Shook, City Engineer E M Ratliff,
Chief of Police Neil Cruse. Absent Mayor T S Tribble, City Clerk Otoe Phillips,
Alderman Bynum, Gregory, and Sanders.
The meeting was called to order by Alderman Stanford, Alderman Carter moved that
Alderman Stanford be elected Mayor pro tem. The motion was seconded by Alderman
Peal. Upon the motion being put by Alderman Carter all present end voting voted
for the motion and Alderman Stanford was elected Mayor pro -tem. The Mayor Pro -tem
tl,en asked the City 'ngineer F.. hi Ratliff to act as clerk of the meeting and record
the minutes.
The minutes of the me�tingrheld April 9th were read and approved.
Mr. J E Brewer presented a request to the Council for permission torerect an electric
sign on the Bates j'uilding on west "ickson Street. alderman hook moved that the
request be granted suhiect to the approval and supervision of the electrical
inspector. The motion was seconded by Alderman Carter and received the entire vote
of the Council. Mavor vrotem declared the motion carried unanimously.
A communication .from the Highway Dept w4s read for imformation. Alderman Carter
introduced a resolution and moved its adoption. the motion was seconded by
Alderman Peal. Upon roll call all present voted ave- absent and not voting
Alderman Bynum, Gregory, and Sanders. The copy of the resolution As as follows:

Where as, the State Highway Conti 5LFXJCalf the St-.te of Arkansas is desirous of
constructing State 44ighway No. 71 through the City of Fayetteville and is desirous
of routing, the traffic through the City of Fayetteville over School St., Mountain
Street., and College Ave. from the South to the North corporate Limits and across.:
all intersecting streets.
Whereas, the State "ir*hway Commission of the State of Arkansas is desirous of
receiving Federal aid for the improvment of said highway; and,
Whereas, the BureaV of Pubic Roads of the Department of Agriculture of the United
States of "merica will not participate in the construction of said highway until and
unless the City of Fayetteville will agree to re°'rain from permitting enroachments
upon the right of wap of said above mentioned route, and until and unless the City
of Fayetteville still agree to refrain from passing ordinances or laws fixing
unreasonable 'speed limits in the said above mentioned route, and tnti.l and unless the
City of Fayetteville will agree to refrain from erecting signs semaphomee and signals
that will give preference to local routes or that will hinder or delay traffic on
said above route.
Therefore, be. it resolved, by the Mayor and City Council of the "itv of Fayetteville,
"rknnsas the, for and in consideration o^ the State Highway Commission of the tate
of Arkansas and the Bureau of Public "oads of the 1'epsrtment of Agriculture of the
Un'ted states of America constructing, said highway addacent to the City of Fayettevil

and routing the traffic through the City of Fayetteville over the above described
1 route and across all intersecting streets. It hereby agrees with the St to Hi,ahway
Commission of the State of "rkansas and the Bureau[ of Public haods of the vepartmen
of Agriculture of the United States of America that it will not in the future permi
enroachments upon the right of way of said above mentioned route, nor will it pass
any ordinances or laws fixing unreasonable speed limits on the above mentioned rout
not that will slow up, hinder or delay traffic on said above mentioned route.

Alderman'McAllistpr introduced a resolution and moved its adoption which was
seconded by Alderman Shook. Upon roll call all �ilderman nresnnt voted ave -

reolution is as follows:
&Agreement by Municipality or political subdivision to maintlin highways improved
under the National recovery act.
The City of Fayetteville Sate of Arkansas hereinafter referred to as the City

hereby agrees as follows:
1. That the Highway Department will submit a project for the improvement of
0.214 miles of the Municipal (Highway No. 71)

provision each year for such maintenance.

Claude Atkinson appeared before the Council regarding the condition of the road to
the pity dump groland. This matter was refered to the Street committee and City
Fngi.neer.

Mr. Be Be Bronson avneared before the Council and called attention to the drainage j� r
being done to Locust street by recent rains. No action taken.
Alderman McAllister moved that the Council fro into execution session. This motion
was seconded by Alderman Shook, and received the entire vote of the Council and
the Mayor Protem declared the Council in execution session. This session
consisted of inforffal.discussion and no act was taken.
There being no further business 1�lderman Carter made a motion seconded by 4olderman
Peal that the Council adjourn. Upon ni.itting the motion the Mayor Protem declared
motion carried --in the Louncil adjourned. ^
