The Committee appointed to confer with So F. Dowell relative to condemning property
belonging to him fcr the extension of Wall Street'reported as follows; That the High-
way department is to move the.buildings and the City is to pay Mr. Dowell $50.00 for
right-of-way across the property. Alderman Sanders made a motion that the report be
accepted and the Clerk be instructed to pay S. F. Dowell $50.00 when the deed to the
City for said right -of -way is approved by the City Attorney. Alderman Carter seconded
the motion which carried unanimously and the Mayor so declared.
Alderman Sanders moved that the Mayor be authorized to go to Little Rock in.the inter-
est of CWA projects to come up. The motion was seconded by Alderman Harding and re-
ceived the entire vote of the Council.
A motion to adjourn made by Alderman Peal seconded by Alderman Gregory, was duly

Fayetteville City Council met in regular session Monday February 26� 1934.
Present: Mayor T. S. Tribble, City Clerk Otoe Phillips, City Attorney Virgil Ramsey, City
Rhgineer E. M. Ratliff, Chief Police Neal Cruse, Alderman Bynum, Carter, Harding,
Peal, Stanford and Wages. Absent. Alderman Sanders and Gregory.
Minutes of the regular meeting of February 19, 1934 were read an approved.
Bills: The following bills were presented after their approval by Hlderman Peal, Chairman
of the Auditing Committee; Republic Printing Co. $16.75, Western Union $0.45

School SI City Engineer, Fr.. M. Ratliff stated that he had consulted with Mr. Rhyne on the
'School Street paving from Prairie to Mountain St. Alderman Stanford made the
Paving, motion that the entire present Washington County annropriatibn for pavement in the
Citi be spent on School Streetp making the street 30ft.in width with curring for the
entire distance and that the City Engineer, write Mr. Ithyne to that effect.
The Motion was seconded by Alderman Harding, and received the unamimus vote of the
Council.

The 193: Audit was presented by VC Framblers, Alderman Bunum moved that the
audit he accepted, the motion was seconded by Alderman Harding. Alderman Harding
made the motion that the, amount of $125.00 be paid Framblers the motion was
seconded by Alderman Peal and duly passed by the Council.
A motion to adjourn made by Alderman Bynum, and seconded by Alderman Harding
was duly passed by the Council and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned.

consddering the annexation of the Government'VeteransHosnital Site to the
City of Fayetteville.
Present Mayor 1. S. Tribble, City clerk, Otoe Phillips, City Attorney, Virgil Ramsey,
Alderman Rvnum, Garter, Harding, Peal, Stanford and "ages. Absent Gregory and Sanders.
Alderman Wages introduced an ordinance entitled "An ordinance to refer to a vote of the
qualified electors of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, at the next general election
to he held in the said city on the third day of April, 1934, in the various wards,
the question of the annexation of the territory composing the site of the government,-

The Clerk read the ordinance the first time in its entirety. Alderm'�mveFl that
the rules '�e lusnended and the. ordinance be placed on its second read ng. The motion
was seconded by Alderman Peal and received the entire vote of the Council. The
Clerlr then read the ordinance the second time. Alderman Bynum moved that the rules
be. futher suspended_ard that the ordinance be Placed on its third or final reading.
This motion was seconded by Alderman Stanford and received the unanimous vote of the
Council. The Clerk then read the Ordinance the third and final time. The M9yox•
put the question "Shall the ordinance pass". On the Clerk's calling, the roll the
following vote resulted; Ayes Bynum, Carter, Harding, Peal Stanford and Wages. Napa,
None, absent and not voting two. The Mayor declared the ordinance passed as there
was 6 ave.s and no nays.

That'ithereas;'the annexation of'the territory, adjoining the City'of'Fayettevil.le,
and composing, the present site of the Government Veterans Hospital was made a part, of
the consideration for the location of the Hospital here by the Veterans Administration
and,
!..hereas, there being no qualified electors owing an interest in slid real estate it is
necessary to submit the, question of the annexation of said territory to the legal
voters of said City, and therefore.
Be it ordained by the City ioouncil dO the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas;
Section One. That the city Clerk of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, be, and he is;
herebv directed to certify to the election commissioners the question of the annexation
to the City the following described lands, situated in Washington County, Arkansas,
adjoining and contigous to the corporate limits of said Vity, to -wit:
Beginning at a point which is one hundred and seve my (170') feet East of the North-
west corner of the Northwest quarter of the South Viest quarter of Section Ten (lO)
Township sixteen .616) North; Range thirty *3Q,) Test of the 5th P. M.,and running
thence North Fourteen-hundr'ad and Ninety-seven (1497.) feet; thence l'Iest one hundred
seventy (17nJ feet to the East line of Section Nine (9), Township sixteen (16),North:
Range (:AQ) West of the 5th P. !'.a thence North to the northeast corner of Section
V9)_.Nine: Townshin Sixteen *16) north;'Range thirty West of 5th P. M.: thence West to
west corner of the Northeast Quarter of the Northeasf quarter of'said Section nine(f);
thence South to the Southwest corner of the Southeast 'quarter of the Northeast Quarter
of Section Nine (9) Township sixteen (16), North,. Range thrity (30) west of the
5th P. h!* thence East along the present City Limits of"the City of Fayetteville,
Arkansas, to the place of beginning.
To he Placed on the Official Ballot to be voted on at the next General City Election
to he held on the 3rd day of ynril, 1934, in the various Wards of said. City.
Section Two. The question to appear upon the official ballot to he voted on shall
he in the following form:
Vote. ror: The annexation of the territory composing the site of the Veterans Hospital
to•the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Vote Against: The annexation of the territory composing the site of the Veterans
Hospital to the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Section Three: This ordinance being necessary for the Protection of the Publicpeace,
health and safety, and emergency is hereby decal.red to exist, and this ordinance shall
take ef'ect and *_�e in force from and after its passage, approval'a�dAublication.

No further business Alderman Carter amde the motion tgat the Council adjourn, the
motion was seconded by Alderman Heal and received the entire vote the Council.
