Section Two; All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby renealed, and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its Passage, anproval, and publication. Mayor Tribble appointed Aldermen Peal, Gregory, and .Stanford as a Committee to confer with S. F. Dowell, a property owner in the district affected by the above Ordinance, before condemnation proceedings are instituted. Alderman Sanders moved that the Council adjourn. Fayetteville City Council met in regular session Monday, February 19, 1934s resent: Mayor T. S. Tribble, City Clerk Otoe Phillips, City Attorney Virgil Ramsey, City Engi- neer F. M. Ratliff, Chief of Police Neal Cruse, Aldermen Bynum, Carter, Gregory, Hard- ing, Peal, Sanders, Stanford, and Wages. Minutes of the regular meeting held February 12th, 1934; and the adjourned session held Fe1hruary lath, 1934, were read and approved. Rills: The following_ bills were presented after their apvroval by Alderman Peal, Chairman of the Auditing Committee: S. W. Gas & Electric Co. $4.74, Fayetteville Daily Democrat $27.96, Allen Strain$7.50, Ben Porter $15.00, S. W. Gas & Electric Co. $0.40, E. A. Martin Machinery Co. $11.42, A. F. Shumate $18.00. Alderman Bvnum moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to dram warrants for same upon the Proper funds. The motion was seconded by Alderman Harding and carried unanimously. Bud pet 1934 Mrs. We J. Reynolds and Mr. J. T. Berson appeared before the Council in the interest of the City Relief Association, giving a general outline of the work being done. and Rskinr„ the City Council to make an appropriation to help carry on the work. No action was taken. The 1934 budget as presented by the Finance Committee February 12th was brought to the attention of the Council. Alderman Stanford made a motion that the salaries of all appointive officers be increased 10% with the exception of the night drivers of the Fire Department whose salaries be increased 30%, and the budget for the General Fund be increased to $18,500.00. Alderman Carter seconded the motion. On the Clerk's call- ing the roll the following vote resulted; Ayes; Bynum, Carter, Harding, Peal, Sanders, Stanford, and VIRges. Nays: Gregory. The.Mayor declared the motion carried as there were 7 Ayes and 1 Nay. Alderman Bynum moved that. the budget he adopted. Alderman Car- ter seconded the motion. On the question being put before the Council the following vote resulted; Ayes: Bvnum, Carter, Harding, Peal. -Sanders, Stanford, and Wages. Dowell relative to condemning property belonging to him frn the extension of Wall Street reported as follows; That the High- way department is to move the buildings and the City is to pay Mr.. Powell $550.00 for right-of-way across the property. Alderman Sanders made a motion that the report be accented and the Clerk be instructed to pay S. F. Dowell $50.00 when the deed to the City for said right-of-way is approved by the City Attorney. Alderman Carter seconded the motion which carried unanimously and the Mayor so declared. Alderman Sanders moved that the Mayor be authorized to go to Little Rock in.the inter- est of CWA projects to come up. Chandler ask permission of the Council for erection of a sign for`'the Chandler Realty Co. no action was taken, Thrift I Alderman Carter moved that a sum of $20.00 per month be paid the Thrift House for a House i period of six months alderman Peal seconded the motion which was carried unamiously. City Engineer, E.. M. Ratliff stated that he had consulted with Mr. Rhyne on the School S *School Street paving from Prairie to Mountain St. Alderman Stanford made the Paving, motion that the entire present Washington County apnropriatibh for pavement in the Citi be snent on School Street, making the street 30ft.in width with curling for the entire distance and that the City Engineer, write 1Rr. Rhyne to that effect. The Motion was seconded by Alderman Harding, and received the unamimus vote of the Council. 1933 Aud i t Adjourn Present L Ordinanc ', 1 The 1933 Audit was presented by RC Framblers, Alderman Bvnum moved that the audit be accepted, the motion was seconded by Alderman Harding. Alderman Harding made the motion that the amount of $125.00 he paid Framblers the motion was seconded by Alderman Peal and duly passed by the Council. A motion to adjourn made by Alderman Bvnum, and seconded by Alderman Harding was duly Passed by the Council and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned. Tri',hle called the Council together March 2nd, 1934, for the purpose consddering the annexation of the Government Veterans HospitaI Site to the City of Favetteville. Present Vayor 2. Alderman Wages introduced an ordinance entitled "An ordinance to refer to a vote of the qualified electors of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, at the next general election to he held in the said city on the third day of April, 1934, in the various wards, the question of the annexation of the territory composing the site of the government: - Veterans Hospital to the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and for other purgo es. LVa The Clerk read the ordinance the first time in its entirety. Alderm'� move. that the rules `+e `susnended and the ordinance be placed on its second read ng. The motion was seconded by Alderman Peal and received the entire vote of the Council. The Cler'r then read the ordinance the second time. Alderman Bynum moved that the rules he father suspended and that the ordinance be Placed on its third or final reading. "_'his motion was seconded by Alderman Stanford and received the unanimous vote of the Council. The Clerk then read the Ordinance the third and final time. The MAyo'r put the question "Shall the ordinance pass". On the Clerk's calling the roll the following vote resulted; Ayes Bynum, Carter, Harding,, Peal Stanford and Mages.
