Hamse,v, City Engi.- nr.er F. i'. Ratliff, Chief of Police Neal Cruse, Aldermen Bynum, Gregory, Harding, San- ders, Stanford, and Wages. Absent; Aldermen Carter and Peal. Minutes of the regular meeting held September 11th, 1933, were read and'anproved. Bills: The following bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Harding, member of the Auditing Committee: Ben Porter $612.00, Heerwagen Bros. $6.171 A. F. Shumate $18.00, Fayetteville Drug, Co. $2.60, Harry r, Hamilton $;21.03. Alderman Harding moved that the hills he allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants for same up- on the Proper funds. This motion was seconded by Alderman Bynum and received the entire vote of the Council. Report on The investigating committee on the Protest of M. W. Moore against his assessment, in Protest: South Colleee Ave. Improvement Dist. No. 1 reported as follows: that they find the property in question equitably assessed, and recommended that the. assessment stand. Alderman Sanders, seconded by Alderman Bynum, moved that the report be received and filed. The motion received the unanimous vote of the Council and the. Mayor so declared Alderman Bynum then moved that the assessment as sprad on the hooks stand. Alderman Stanford seconded the motion, which received the entire vote of the Council. Petition: A Petition signed by seven property owners in the neighborhood asking that certain Property designated as No. 201 W. Lafayette he condemned as unfit, unsafe, and unsan- itary was presented. By motion of Alderman Sanders, seconded by Alderman Wages, and duly passed by the Council, the matter was referred to the City Attorney .for investi.- F,ation and report for next meeting of the Council. Financia Re, Ports; Curt Curb Yost-dat Warrants solut Financial reports of University Improvement District No. 1 and Douglas Street Improve- ment District No. 1 were read by the Clerk. Alderman Wages moved that the reports he received and filed. The motion was seconded by Alderman Harding and received the en- tire vote of the Council. Mrs, B. P!. Sedwick asked permission to cut the curb for a driveway at her residence on St. Charles street. By motion of Alderman Sanders, seconded by Alderman Bynum, and du- lv passed by the Council, the permit was granted under supervision of the City Engineer,. The Clerk asked the Council for authority to charge the Post-dated Warrants turned in by the County Tax Collector to the City Street Fund. By motion of Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman Wages, and passed by the unanimous vote of the Council, this au- thority was granted. : Alderman J. F. Stanford introduced the following Resolution: Resolution. Whereas, the need of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, for a City Hall providing suitable office space for the City Officials; and providing for a Public Library build ing which will meet the needs and standards of our constantly growing City, has long been recognized, and Whereas, many Cities thruout this country are making application to the Government for .loans thru the Agency of the R. F. Co It is understood that such loans may be. obtained at, a very low rate of interest, and only seventy Percent of the principal to he repaid over a long period of time where such funds are used for nubli.c improvement. Now, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkan- sas; Th•it the, City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, go on record as favoring the. borrowing sufficient funds from the Government if such funds are obtainable to. Provide a suitable site and building for a City Hall, and Be it further resolved. that the Mayor of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, be di- rected to appoint a committee to investigate the probability of obtaining such a loan, and to secure as much other information concerning, the procedure and requirements of the, City nre-requisite to obtaining such loan, and report their findings at the next regular meeting of this Council. Alderman Rvnum moved that, the resolution he adopted. Alderman 17ac;es seconded the mo- tion which received the unanimous vote of the. Council. The Mayor appointed Stanford, Gregory, and Bynum as members of the investigating, committee. The Cit•r Attorney was instructed by the Council to notify Frisco Officials to nut in a foot bridge over the railroad tracks on Maple Street according to previous Agreement By motion of Alderman Sanders, seconded by Alderman Wages, and duly passed by the Coun cil, the City agreed to furnish Ben Porter to drive the grader in grading the race track at the Fair Grounds. No further business, Alderman Bynum moved that the Council adjourn. Alderman Wages ,seconded the motion which passed unanimously, and the Mayor declared the Council ad - ,j oi.irned.
