Jas. Dinwiddie tendered his resignation as Gas Inspector for the City of Fayetteville.
Dinwiddie:
Alderman Bynum made a motion, which was seconded by Alderman Harding, that the resig-
nation he accepted. This motion received the entire vote of the Council and the Mayor
so declared.
Combining
City
Alderman Peal madea motion that the offices of Buildd)ng Inspector, Plumbing Inspector,
Inspections:
Gas Inspector, and Electrical Inspector be united, making one City Inspector. The
motion was seconded by Alderman Bynum and received the entire vote of the Council.
Flection
of City
Two applications were. Presented for the office of City Inspector as per above motion,
Inspector:
namely, F. Gary and W. C. Smith. Alderman Bynum moved that the, Council ballot on the
candidates. Alderman Sanders seconded the motion which received the entire vote of the
Council. The vote was then taken with the following result; F. Gary received 5 votes,
and Vt. C. Smith 1 vote. The Mayor declared F. Gary elected,

R. R. James asked the Council's permission to install a telephone at a truck stand
across the street from the Ozark Gro. By motion of Alderman Bynum, seconded by Alderman
Sanders, and duly passed by the Council, the Mayor was authorized to investigate the
matter and to handle it in any way he deems advisable.
No further business, Alderman Wages moved that the Council adjourn. Alderman Peal
seconded the motion which passed unanimously, and the Mayor declared the Council
adjourned,

motion wns seconded by Alderman Sanders and received the entire vote of the Council,
Ordinance, Alderman Stanford introduced an ordinance to be entitled "An Ordinance to provide for
the removal by the City Council of any Elective or Appointive Officer of the City of
Fayetteville. Arkansas, for inefficiency, mis-conduct, insubordination, neglect, or
failing to faithfully discharge the duties of his official office; to provide for the
procedure and hearinv by the City Council of the charges, and for other Pruposes".
The Clerk read the ordinance the first time in its entirety. Alderman Bynum moved that
the rules be suspended and the ordinance be placed on its second reading. This motion
was seconded by Alderman Harding and received the unanimous vote of the Council. The
Clerk then read the ordinance the second time. Alderman Bynum moved that the rules be
.further suspended and the ordinance he placed on its third and final reading. This mo-
tion was seconded by Alderman Harding., and received the entire vote of the Council. The
Clerk read the ordinance the third and final time. The flavor Put the question "Shall
the Ordinance pass". On the Clerk's calling the roll the following vote resulted: Ayes;
Rvnum, Gregory, Harding, Peal, Sanders, Stanford, Wages. Nays: none. Absent and not

Ordinance
to
be
entitled "An Ordinance
to
provide
for the removal by the
City Council of
any
Elective
or
Appointive Officer of
the
City of
Fayetteville, Arkansas
for inefficiency, mis-conduct, insubordination, neglect, or failing to faithfully dis-
charge the duties of his Official office; to provide for the procedure and hearing by
the City Council of the charges, and for other purposes".
Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas;
Section One: That if any official either elective or appointive of the City of Fayette-
ville, Arkansas, shall he guilty of mis-conduct., inefficiency, insubordi.nation, neglect,
or failing to faithfully discharge the duties of his Official office, may be removed
from office by the City Council in the manner and form as hereinafter provided.
Section Two; The Mayor, or any three Aldermen, of said City, who have information, or
reasonable cause to believe that any official of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, as
set forth in Section One of this Ordinance, is guilty of Official mis-conduct in office,
and has failed to faithfully discharge the duties of his office, may file with the City
Clerk of said City, a written accusation or complaint against said Official to be pro-
ceeded against, stating in plain language the charge or complaint to be. answered: and a
cony of said complaint shall be served on said official by the Chief of Police, who
shall file his affidavit of service with the City Clerk,
Section Three; After the written accusation or complaint has been served for three day=
on the official charged, the City Council shall, at an adjourned session or at its next
regular meeting, hear the complaint and the defense, if any, and upon a concurrent vote
of two thirds of all Aldermen elected to the City Council, a member of the City Council
or any Elective officer of said City or of any 'lard or District of said City may be re-
moved from office; and upon a concurrent vote of a majority of 911. Aldermen elected to
the City Council of said City, an'Appointive official of said City or any Ward or Dis-
trict thereof may he removed from office. In event any official is removed from office
as nrovided for herein, the vacancy shall be filled as is now provided by law for fill-
ing such vacancies.
Section Four: All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
renealed, and this Ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after its passage,
approval and publication.

moti.on was seconded by Alderman Harding and received the unanimous vote of the Council
Protest: The protest of M. W. Moore'on South College Ave. Improvement Dist. No. 1 was carried
over till next meeting night with the following investigating committee appointed by
the Mayor: Wages, Harding,, and Peal.
Permit: The Arkansas Western Gas Co, asked permission to tunnel under or cut pavement on Dick-
son Street between Church and Block for the purpose of installing, gas line. By motion
of Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman Peal, and duly passed by the Council, this
permission was granted., same to he under supervision of the City Engineer.
Sidewalk: The ]Methodist Church asked that a grade for sidewalk be established at the Church on
Highland and Dickson. Alderman Gregory moved that this grade be established under the
supervision of the City Engineer. Alderman Wages seconded the motion which received
the entire vote of the Council.
Jas. Dinwiddie recd a paper relative to ways and means of ob\tsining aid from the Gov-
ernment for a Municipal building. The Mayor requested him to obtain further data and
report his findings to the Council.
Alderman Rynum moved that the Council adjourn. Alderman Peal seconded the motion whi.
