Ratliff, Aldermen Bynum, Harding,, Peal, Sanders, Stanford, and Wages. Absent: Mayor T. S. Tr Aldermen Carter and Gregorv. Alderman J. F. Stanford was seated as Mayor Pro Tem. Minutes of the regular meeting held August 21, 1933, and the recessed meeting held Augiist 24, 1933, were read and approved. Ills : The following hills were nre^ented after their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman of tYe Auditing Committee: S. W. Gas & Electric Co. 4$314.10, Bohe Gro. 9$1.50, A. F. Shu- mate 4,x`9.75, Eldo Cole 4$1.00, C. H. Bynum $5.50, Ben Porter $0,00, A. F. Shumate 4018.00 Continental Oil Co. 9$2.15. Alderman Harding moved that the bills be allowed as approve and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants for same upon the proper funds. This mo- tion was seconded by Alderman Bynum and received the unanimous vote of the Council. Assess- Re -assessments -of South College Ave. Improvement District No. 1 and Annex No. 1 to ments: South College Ave. Imp. Dist. No. 1 were presented by the Clerk. By motion of Alderman Sanders, seconded by Alderman Bynum, and duly passed by the Council, the assessments were ordered received and filed. Resignatil n Cf Jas. Dinwiddie tendered his resignation as Gas Inspector for the City of Fayetteville. Dinwiddie: Alderman Bynum made a motion, which was seconded by Alderman Harding, that the resig- nation be accented. This motion received the entire vote of the Council and the Mayor so declared. Combining City Alderman Peal madea motion that the offices of Buildmng Inspector, Plumbing Inspecto Inspections: Gas Insnector, and Electrical Inspector be united, making one City Inspector. The, motion was seconded by Alderman Bynum and received the entire vote of the Council. Flection of City I Two applications were presented for the office of City Insnector as per above motion, Inspector': namely, E. Gary and W. C. Smith. Alderman Bynum moved that the Council ballot on the candidates. Alderman Sanders seconded the motion which received the entire vote of the Council. The vote was then taken with the following, result; c Gary received 5 votes, and Pr. C. Smith 1 vote. The Mayor declared F. Gary elected. Alde*man Stanford moved that a hearing on this protest be. given at the next regular meeting, of the City Council. The motion wan seconded by Alderman Sanders and received the entire !rote of the Council. )rdi Alderman Stanford introduced an ordinance to be entitled "An Ordinance to provide for the removal by the City Council of any Elective or Appointive Officer of the City of Fayetteville. Arkansas, for inefficiency, mis-conduct, insubordination, neglect, or failing to faithfully discharge the duties of his official office; to provide for the. Procedure and hearing by the City Council of the charges, and for other Pruposes". The Clerk read the ordinance the first time in its entirety. Alderman Bynum moved that the rules be. suspended and the ordinance be placed on its second reading. This motion was seconded by Alderman Harding and received the unanimous vote of the Council. The Clerk then read the ordinance the second time. Alderman Bynum moved that the rules be further suspended and the ordinance be placed on its third and final reading. This mo- tion was seconded by Alderman Harding and received the entire vote of the Council. The Clerk read the ordinance the third and final time. The. Tlayor nut the question "Shall the Ordinance Pass". On the Clerk's calling the roll the following vote resulted: Ayes Bynum, Gregory, Harding, Peal, Sanders, Stanford, Wages. Nays: none. Absent and not votin:*: Carter. The Mayor declared the Ordinance passed as,there were 7 Ayes and no Nays. .)4. p R. B. James asked the Council's permission to install a telephone at a truck stand across the steeet from the Ozark Oro. By motion of Alderman Bynum, seconded by Alderma 1 Sanders, and duly passed by the Council, the Mayor was authorized to investigate the matter and to handle it in any way he deems advisable. No further business, Alderman Wages moved that the Council adjourn. Alderman Peal seconded the motion which passed unanimously, and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned.
