Reports The followinn reports for the month of July, 1933, were read in their entirety by
of the Clerk: T. S. Tri.hble as Purchasing Agent, Otoe Phillips as City Clerk and as
Officials: Cite Collector, Clem Pearson as Police Judge. and Neal Cruse as Chief of Police.
Alderman Gregory moved that the report: be ar,cepted as read and the Clerk he in-
structed to file same. This motion was seconded by Alderman Bynum and was duly
passed by the Council.
Resolution: The resolution pertaining to obtaining aid from the Fact Finding Tribunal in fig-
uring the baths of rates charged by the douthwestern Gas & electric Co. and the
1 S. i'J. Bell Telephone Co. was brought up for discussion. Alderman Wages moved that
the Telephone Co. be stricken from the resolution. Alderman Harding seconded the mo-
tion which received the entire vote of the Council. Alderman Harding then moved that
the resolution be adopted. Alderman Peal seconded the motion, which carried unani-
mously. The Resolutior, as adopted, follows;

1'/hereas many complaints have been made against the rates charged by the Southwestern
Gas tc Rlectric Cornnany, furnishing electricity to the inhabitants of the City of
Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Schedule of electric rates charged by the Southwestern Gas & Electric Company
Residential rate:
10 cents net per kilowatt-hour for the first 5 kilowatt-hours used per room rer
month.
7 cents net per kilowatt-hour for the next 5 kilowatt-hours used per room per month.
3 cents net rer kilowatt-hour for the -additional use.
Mininum monthly xxtw bill; $1.50 per meter.
Commercial lighting rates:
10 cents not per kilowatt-hour for the first 35 hours used of the maximum demand
per month.
7 cents net per kilowatt-hour for the next 35 hours used of the maximum demand per
month.
5 cents net per kilowatt -hour for all additional use.
Minimum monthly bill:p1.50 per meter where the maximum demand is two (2) kilowatts
or less, plus 5011 for each additional kilowatt of maximum demand.
Whereas the City of Fayetteville is desirous that the rates being charged as listed
above he investigated by the Fact Finding Tribunal, created under and by virtue of
Act 72 of the Acts of tre General Assembly of the State of Arkansas for the ,year
1933.
Now therefore he it resolved by the City Connci.l of the City of Fayetteville, Ark-
ansas, that this Council requests the Fact Finding Tribunal to make an ir.vestipati.on
finning and report upon the basis for rates charged the citizens of Fayetteville,
Arkarsas, by the Southwestern Gas is Electric Company, and report its findings to tyle
Council at as early a date as is practical.
Be it therefore resolved that the Mayor T. S. Tribhle is hereby designated as the
Afrent of the City for service of all notices growing out of the invest:ipat:ion here-
by .req nested.

D. A. Burson presented a bill. amounting to ''2.50 for expenses in finger printing
while acting as Chief of Police. By motion of Alderman Carter seconded by Alderman
Gregory and duly passed by the Council, this bill was allowed.
Alderman Wages moved that the Council adjourn. Alderman Bynum seconded the motion
which received the entire vote of the Council and. the Mayor declared the Council
adjourned. N

Mayor
By motion of Alderman Wages seconded by Alderman Gregory and passed by the unanimous
Pro Tem:
vote of the Council, Alderman J. F. Stanford was elected Mayor Pro Tem, to act as
slich till Mayor Tribble's return.
Minutes of the regular meeting held July 31st, 1933, were read and approved.
Bills:
The following hills were presented after their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman
of the Auditing Committee: Lewis Bros. $e40, Ahshier-C+rvan $lO.t.', Joe Baker $3.4.0,
Lewis Bros. "2.35, Heerlvagen Bros. $8.14, A. F. Shumate "18.00, L & G Tire Co. 004.06,
Kelly Bros. $0.90. Alderman Harding made a motion seconded by Alderman Carter that
the hills be allowed as approved and the Clerk he instructed to draw warrants for
same upon the proper funds. This motion received the entire vote of the Council. and
the Mayor so declared.
