Fayetteville City Council met in regul•m session Konday, July 17, 1.933.
May6r T. S. Tribble being absent on account of illness, Alderman Bynum made a motion
which was seconded by Alderman Peal, that Alderma^ J. F. Stanford be elected Mayor
Pro Tem. This motion was duly passed by the Courcil and Alderman Stanford was seated.

ory, Harding, Peal, Stanford and Wages. Absent; Mayor Tribble and Alderman Sanders.

Bills for the week mere carried over till next meeting.

Insnecto : The application of A. C. Bond for the office of Plumbing Inspector was presented.
After discussion Alderman Hardin made a motion that A. C. Bon" he appointed Plumbing
Inspector to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Jas Dinwiddie. This mo-
tion was seconded by Alderman Carter and received t're entire vote of the Council.
The proposed electrical ordinance wqs carriers over.
The nrivilege tax ordinance which was on its second. reading was brought un for dis-
cussion. Alderman Harding made a motion that this matter be postponed indefinitely
and the protests and petitions be received and filed. Alderman Peal seconded the mo-
tion which carried unanimously.
Machine
Gun. Policeman D. A. Burson appeared before the Council presenting to the City of Fayette-
ville a Thompson suh-machine gun No. 8108, iJ. S. Army 1928 model, the purchase of
which was made possible by contributions from business men and others. Alderman Greg-
ory made a motion that the gun he accepted, and a vote of thanks be extended to the
contributors, to D. A. Burson, and to the other members of the Police Department.
Alderman Wages seconded the motion which received the entire vote of the Courcil.
A motion to adjourn made Iy Pklderman Carter and seconded by Alderman Bynum was duly
passed by the Council and the Mavor declared the Coundil adjourned.

Bills: The following{ bills were presented after their arproval by Alderman Peal, Chairman
of the Auditing Committee: S. V'1. Gas & Electric Co. $3.20, Linkwa,y Stores T552.00,
c..oss-Rogers Flee. Go. $28.00, S. ti'1: Bell Telephone Co. $32.18, S. W. Gas & Elec. Co.
$'7.51, S. W. Oras & Elec. Co. $2.80, A. F. Shumate 836.00. Alde.°man Harding made a
motion seconded by Alderman Bynum that the bills he allowed as approved and thh'Cl.erk
'ie, instructed to draw warrants for same upon the proper funds. This motion rerAived
the unanimous vote of the Council and the Mayor so declared.
The PronosAd el%ctrical ordinance was carried over.
Aonlications to cut the curb on Hi.ghlend Aver:uc were prosentnd by Mfrs. T. C. Skaggs
and Mir. Toni Logan, Mr. Lovan stating that the rror.er•ty in question belorced to him.
By motion of Alderman C.rerrory seconded by Al.derrnan Harding and duly passed by the
Council, the matter was referred to the City Ihgineer for settlement as to the Drop-
er or correct party to make application for such permit.

Ratliff Itavor Tribble stated to the Council that, due to the untimely death of C. 1V, ADnlehy,
AnnointPc a vacancy existed in the ?oard of Vananers of the City "'ager Plant, and summested the
appointment of F. M. Ratliff to fill the vacanc�r. Alderman Gregory made a motion that
7* M. Ratliff be appointed as a'member of the Roard of Managers of the City I'llater
Plant, succeeding* C. 19. Appls )y, deceased. This motion was seconeand by Alderman Stan-
ford and received the entire vote of the Council.

A motion to adjourn made by Alderman Carter and seconded by A1dnrman Peal was duly
passed by the Council and the, Mayor declared the Council adjourned.
