HomeMy WebLinkAbout1933-01-23 Minutes1 Fayetteville City Council met in regular session Monday January 23, 1933. Present: Mayor T. S. Tribble,'City Clerk Otoe Phillips, City Attorney'V,'James Ptak, City Enosh, ginner E. Td. Ratliff, Chief of Police Neal Cruse, Aldermen Barr, Bynum, Carter, Harding, Stanford, and Wages. Absent Aldermen Gregory and Sanders. Bills: esianati of Jar, es Minutes of the regular meeting held.January 16th, 1933, were read and approved. The following bills iveretpresented after their approval by Alderman Barr, Chairman of the Auditing Cominitt,ee, whereupon Alderman Bynum made a motion seconded by Alderman Harding that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants for same upon the proper funds. This motion received the entire vote of the Council and the Mayor so declared and instructed the Clerk: Ben Porter $12.00, A. F. Shumate $30.00, Cravens & Co. $106.25, Eardie Sherman $17.00, Pete Gann $2.50, Letters requesting reduction in City auto license fees from J. F. Winchester and Roy Vickers were read by the Clerk. This matter was referred to the Finance Committee A communication was presented from Lee Moore asking* the City Council to investigate rates charged by the Telephone Co. and the Light Co. Alderman Wages made a motion which was seconded by A1dn.rman Bynum that a committee ^e appointed by the Mayor to look into the matter. This motion received the unanimous vote of the Council and the Mayor so declared And appointed the following Aldermen as members of the Committee: Aldermen Bynum, Carter,and Stanford. 1 The resignatton of V. James Ptak as City Attorney to take effect April 1st, 1953, tak, was presented. Alderman Bynum moved that this resignation he accepted. The motion was seconded by Alderman Carter. Upon the question'being put before the Council' the following vote resulted: Ayes, Barr, Bynum, Carter, Harding, and Stanford. Nays, none. Absent and not voting, Gregory and Sanders. Present and not voting, Wages. The Mayor declared the motion passed as there were five Ayes. . Permit: M. A. Rheams appeared before the Council asking, permission to cut the curb at hds residence.on Johnson Street. By motion of Alderman Harding seconded by Alderman Carte and duly passed by the Council, the permit, to be under supervision of the City En- gineer, was granted. 1 Audit: A complete Audit of'the City hooks for the years 1931 and 1932 by R. C. Frambers & Co of Fort Smith, Ark., was presented by R. C. Frambnrs in Person. -Detailed explanations were made by M. H. Bell, Certified Public Accountant of Frairbers & Co., and suggesti.o were made by R. C. Frambers as to handling of City accounts in the future. Alderman Harding made a motion seconded by Alderman Bynum that the Audit be accepted by the Council. Upon the'question being put before "hn Council the following vote resulted: Ayes. Barr, Bynum, Carter, Harding, Stanford. Nays, Wages. Absent and not voting,, Gregory and Sanders. The Mayor declared the motion carried as there were five Ayes and one Nay. Bill for A bill for services in making an Audit of the City hooks amounting, to $250.00 was Audit: presented by R. C. Frambers 8E Co. Alderman Carter made a motion seconded by Alderman Barr that the bill be allowed and paid, Upon the question bei^.g put before the Coun- cil the following vote resulted: Ayes, Barr, Bynum,, Carter, Harding, Stanford. Nays, Mages. Absent and not voting Gregory and Sanders. The Mayor declared the motion as carried as there were five Ayes and one Nay. A motion to adjourn made 11y Alderman Harding, and seconded by Aldernan Bynum was duly passed by the Council and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned, Attest: Approved; City Clerk. - mayor.
