Fayetteville City Council met in regular session Monday Jan. 16th, 1933.
Present:Mayor T. S. Tribble, City Clerk Otoe Phillips, City Attorney V.'James Ptak, City En-
gineer E. M. Ratliff,"Chief of Police Neal Cruse, Aldermen Barr,.Bvnum, Carter, Greg-
ory, Harding,, Sanders, Stanford, and Wages.
Meeting of the regular meeting held Jan. 9th, 1933, were read and approved.
gills; The following.bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Barr, Chairman
of the Auditing Committee, whereupon Alderman Harding made a motion seconded by Alder-
man Carter that the bills he allowed as'anprovnd and the Clerk he instructed to draw
warrants for same upon the proper funds. This motion received the entire vote of'the
Counct.l and the Mayor so declared and instructed the Clerk; Fayetteville Drug Co. tXX
$29.05, Ozark Gro. Co $3.259 Frank Barr $1.35, Bob Hanna $$0.75, H. Be Wood 13.75,
Sidney Graham $4.80, Ben Porter $12.00,"Smelser & Eason $3.40, J. A. Hight $2.80,
Henry Barton $4.50, Gray F. Carlisle 5.60, -Harper Brush Works $6.50; A. F. Shumate.
$30.00. Total for each fund; Street 875.45, Fire $3.25, General $29.0.5.
Refund -
City Tax, It being established that Walter Miller had paid $lO.00 City tax on property owiiedji
by him outside the City limits, Alderman Sanders moved that this claim be allowed
and paid. Alderman Stanford seconded the motion which received the unanimous vote
of the Council, and the Mayor so declared and instructed the Clerk.
Reports
of City The following reports for the Month of December, 1932, were read in their entirety
Official:; by the Clerk: T. S. Tribble as Purchasing Agent, Otoe Phillips as City Clerk, Clyde
Walters as Fire Chief, and M. Cunningham as City Collector. After the reading of the
reports Alderman made A motion that the reports be accepted as read and the Clerk be
instructed to file same. This motion was seconded by Alderman ueegory and received
the entire vote of the Council.
Ordinanc The ordinance for the purpose of regulating the salaries of certain.City Officials
being_, brought up, the matter was deferred till after the 1933 budget K is completed,
and presented.
Resoluti n; The following Resolution was presented by Alderman -Gregory; Whereas; Heretofore it
3 has been the custom of the Citv Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, to
allow double pay to Aldermen of'the City for the meeting -held at the installation
of Aldermen elected for their respective terms of office:
Now', therefore, be it resolved and oddained that a holdover'meetinp, should be con-
sidered as one meeting of said Council and the Aldermen should erceive pay -as for
one meeting, are the incoming Alder -"ten shall receive no pay•for the meeting.
Upon -the question being p>>t before the Council the following vote resulted; Ayes,
Barr, Bynum, Carter, Gregory, Sanders:; Stanford, and Wares. Nays, Harding,. As there
were 7 Ayes and 1 Nay the Mayor declared the Resolution as adopted.
Thrift H use appropriation to be submitted to voters:
Alderman Stanford made'la motion that the appropriation of $25.00 per month for the
upkeep of the Thrift House be submitted to the voters of the City in the City gener-
al election to be held 1933. This motion was seconded by Alderman
Bynum and received the unanimous vo a of the Council. The Mayor declared the motion
carried and so instructed the Clerk.
No further business, Alderman Sanders moved that the Council adjourn. Alderman By -
nun seconded the motion which was duly passed by the Council and the Mayor declared
the Council adjourned.
