Ratliff,Chief of Police Neal Cruse Aldermen Barr,Bynum,Carter,Gre.gory,Harding,Sander•s, Stanford & Wagese b;inutes 3f the regmlar meeting as held on Monday April 18th,].932 mere read add approved by the unaminous vote of the City Council, Bi;ls; The follwoing bills were presented after their approval h -Y Alderman Barr of the Auditin� Committe wherupon Alderman Harding made a motion that was seconded by Alderman Bynum th t the bills be allowed. as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants upon the proper funds for the payment of the same.Upon the question being put before the Council, i it received their unaminous vote and the Mayor so declared end ordered the Clerk.Bills; Ben Portet �18.75,Otls Parker $f2.50,Oscar heinolds $3.10,A1 len Strain $5.50,Joe Farr $9.00,John Zillah $6.00,Shumate & Williams $30.00. Invitati n: An invitation was read from Hev.Aabell,Pastor of the first Christian Church intitBAn the City Council,Police Force,and riremen of the Cita to attend Mothers day services on Sunday May 8th,1932.This invitation was accepted by the Council. Clean Up Week. A resolution was read from the City & Highway Beautification Committee setting aside the week oP May 8-7 as clean up week and asked the Myor to issue a proclamation setting aside that week as Clean up week and also asked the Council to take care of the hauling of the refuse,whereupon Alderman Harding made a motion that the City take care i of the hauling of the refuse to approximately $60.00 and that the same he paid out of the Street Cleaning fund.This motion was seconded by Alderman Bynum.Upon the question being put before the Council,it received their unaminous vote and the blayor so declared, McIlroy Building: Mr Hayden W.cllroy appeared before the Council and asked that he be give p per it to repair the building on Dixon Street that was ran into by Dean Droke axElas N,r.Dinwiddile the bulid.ing inspector had refused him a permit to repair the same.He claimed by an est#w- estimate of b?r.Elmer Norwood that the value of the building was $257.46 and that the damage was $43.75 elich amount was less than 3 the value of the building.Mr.Dinwiddie said that he had refused the pe,m.it on the valuation of the building being more that the vplue on account of the accident and decay as set out in the Ordinance.P41derman VlagPs then made a motion that the buliding inspector be sustained in his action.Hg failed to get a second to his motion and withdrew the motion when the City Attorney said that the City Council had no jurisdiction in the matter as it was entirely up to the building inspector.The Council then refused to act on the matter, Assess-o•s Pio.38 & 39.The City attorney then gave his opinion in the matter of a protest as presented by 20 property owners in the Districts Curb & Gutter Improvement District No.,8 and Paving Improvement District No.39 in which tbVyrequested the removal of the Assessors for• ce.use,taht the Council had no jurisdiction in this matter.The Mayor then continued the herring until I.iay.9,1932. Jail: The question of a city jail was presented to the Council and Alderman VJages,Chairman of the Committee then stated that Alderman Scott had left the Council and asked that the Mayor appoint some one in his place and that the Committee would function and make the- ees necessary report.The Mayor then appointed Alderman Gregory on the committee. 41derman Bynum then made amotion that was seconded by AldermKn Stanford that the Council adjourn.Upon the question being put before the Council,it received their unaminous vote and the Mayor declared the Council as adjourned. 1tt:est: City Clerk.
