MrslLong: Alderman Scott made the following report in reference to the property owned by Mrs. Long on North Street,"Mrs Long called me on the Phone this morning Monday 11th,1132 at 11.30 A.M. in regard to the price she would accept for 30 feet of land,full length of her property just east of the Frisco.R.R. for the purpose of opening up a road,which i be known as North Street on the North City limit s of the City of Fayetteville.Ber price is $250.00 and asked me to submit this to the Council to -night" Alderman Scott: The Mayor asked the Council to give Alderman Scott a vote of thanks for his services and Co-operation with the Council by riseing to their feet.The Council tkbn stood as requested.Alderman Scott then made a few remarks expressing his thanks and appreciation. Alderman Wages then made a motion that the Council adjourn.Sine Die.This motionwas seconded by Alderman Bynum.Upon the question being put before the Council,it received their unaminous vote and the Mayor declared the Council as adjourned Sine Die. i Attest:0� �" Approved:q p n/w" — City Clerk, Mayor. The Mayor then called the new Council together and adminstered the oath of Office to City Clerk Wm.F.Dunn.City Clerk Dunn then read the certificate of Election -of the following neva members of the City Council.City Attorney V.James Ptak,Aldermen elected for two ,year term Alderman Carter,V<<ard 1,Alderman Vlages,Vlard 2,Alderman Harding,Vlard 3, Alderman Bynum,Ward 4, and Alderman Gregory for a one ,year term from Ward 3.TheMayor then administered the oath of Office to the above mentioned gentlemen. The Mayor the appointed the following standing Committees for the following yeay. Finiance Committee -Alderman Vlages,Chairman,Alderman Barr & Gregory. Auditing Committee -Alderman Barr,Chairman,Alderman Hatding & Sanders. i Ordinance Committee-AldermanGregory,Chairman, Alderman Barr & Stanford. Street Committee -Alderman Bynum,Chairman,Alderman Stanford &. Wages. Street Cleaning Committee -Alderman Carter,Chairman,Alderma.n Bynum & Gregory. Lights Comriittee-Alderman Harding,Chairman,Alderman Sanders & Carter. Sewer Committee -Alderman Sanders,Chairma.n,Alderman Harding & Wages. Fire & Vlater Committee -Alderman Stanford,Chairman,Alder•man Bynum & Carter. Clerk was instructed to see about the taxes upon the City Airport. No further business being necessary Alderman Harding made a motion that was seconded i by Alderman Stanford that the Council adjourn. Mayor, I FAYETTEVILLE CITY COUNCIL MET IN REGULAR SESSION APRIL L8,LQ32 Present: Mayor T.S.Tribble,City Clerk Wm.F.Dunn,City Attorney,V.James Ptak,City Engineer E.M. i Ratliff,Chief of Police Neal Cruse,Aldermen Barr,B3,Carter,Gregory,Sanders,Stanford and Wages. Minutes of the regular meeting as held on April 11th were read and approved by the unaminous vote of the Council. Petetion:A petetion was presented and read from 20 property owners of Curb & Gutter District No.38 and Improvement District No.39 who requested the removal of the Asses J.M Phillips ,V1.H.Summers ,& J.A. English on the grounds that the Assessors had made and 41 filed an& assessment in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas on April 4th,1932 ,re-assesssments which were wholly arbitrary and made without regard to benefits received.A motion was made byAlderman Sanders and seconded by Alderman Stanford that the protest -be received and filed and the Mayor set a date for the hearing of the same.Upon the question being put before the Council,it received their unaminous vote and the Mayor so declared and ordered that a hearing be held on next regular meeting noght of the Council which would be April 25th,1932. Protests:The following petetions of protest agains re -assessments in Curb & Gutter Improvement No.38 Districtand Paving Improvement District Ho.39, were taken up each one at a time and b of each individual case was discussed both Pro and Con.LaweThe Commissioners agAdnst lowering the property of Walter Duggans and J.T.Rosser.The Commissioners were represented by Lawyer Atkission.Z.L.Slaughter and Ada Slaughter who were represented by Lawyer J tj A,ayes.Jas.Dinwiddie represented by himself.Mrs.Nora &foulden represented by F.W.Rupert, Guy Brown represented by Frank Barr,Elda Cole represented by himself,Chester A Smith represented by himself.After hearing these protests Alderman danders made a motion tha was seconded by Alderman Stanford that the Mayor appoint a committe of three to go these two Improvement Districts and personally view the property and report back to Council on Monday night May 2,1932 when these protest would be eentiaxed and acted upo Upon the question being put before the Council,it received their unaminous vote and th Mayor so declared and appointed upon the Committee Aldermen Carter,Sanders,& Wages. In checking over the old records,it was discoveded the the assessemenjr of Chester Smit should be $356.00 insted of $536.00 as it now appeared upon the records.The error was ordered changed.The protest as filed by the Commissioners of the two above Improvement Districts against the lowering of the re assessment of Homer Jackson from 725.79 to $625.79 was found to have been a mistake of the assessors in transcribing the amounts and was withdrawn. A motion was made by Alderman Barr and seconded by Alderman Carter that the Council adjourn,upon the question being put before the Council,it received thedr unaminous vote and the Mayor declared the Council as adjourned.
