BILLS: The following bills were presented after proper approval by the Chairman of the Auditing Committee Alderman Roy Scott and a motion was made by Alderman u?ages that the bills be allowed and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants for their payment.of same out of their proper funds. This motion was seconded by Alderman Harding.Upon the question being nut before the Council,it .received the unaminous vote of the Council and the Mayor declared the motion Is carried and their payment ordered.The bills were as follows:Lottie Tollett $7.50,Ben Porter $18.75,1ienry Vaughn 77.50, Shumate &.67illiams $30.o0,Flill Poor X6.00. REPORTS* The street sweeper Shumate S:Viilliams reported 168 blocks of paved streets as cleaned. A motion was made by Alderman Pearson, seconded by Alderman Bynum that the report be receivedi ,and the clerk be instructed to file the same in its proper manner.Upon the question being put before the Council,it received the umaminous vote and was so ordered by the Mayor. SEPTIC T NK: A petetion presented by T.M.Murrell,District Engineer of the Southwestern Gas & Electric I Co. that they be allowed to install and maintain a three section Dickey Septic Tank or its equivilent of some other make at their Power plant on Gregg Street.City Engineer E.M.Ratliff explained why it was almost impossible for a connection with the sever line proper and recommended that they be given the permission as requested whereuponAlderman Harding made a motion that they be given permission to install this septic tank under the supervision of ti City Engineer.This motion was seconded by Alderman Barr.Upon the question being put,it recei 'the unaminous vote of the Council and the Mayor declared the motion gnarb &dd. CAVENTER: Mr. Cavener appeared before the Council and asked permission and sanction of the City Counc in puting the house numbers on the curbing in front of each house in the city and explained that no specified charge would be made but that each house would be asked for a donation for this work.Alderman Pearson (lode a motion that Nr.Cavener be granted permission to out This was seconded byAld.Sanders the house numbers on the curbing and that it receive the sanction of the Council.Upon the i question being put before the Council,it received the following vote.Ayes AldermanBarr,Bynum, Pearson,Sanders,Stanford,Viages.Nays.Alderman Scott.Not Voting Alderman Harding. The Mayor (declared the motion as carried as it received 6Ayes 1 Nay & 1 not voting. ORDINANCU71. Iv'Ir.Dinwiddie appeared before the Council and stated that he was meeting all of the d i requirements of Ordinance No.571 in regard to the inspection of Plumbing but them had been isome complaint by the plumbers to hid work and desired to know from the Council if he was (doing his duty as set out in Ordinance 571.The Council upheld Idr.Dinwiddie in his inspections jbut after talks by idr.Duggans,in which he complained that the Ordinance was obsolete and i Is. new Ordinance drawn up in which the size of pipes,and other specifications should be set ROARK: �, a, STREET out in an ordinance.The Mayor then requested the Ordinance Committee to meet with Mr. Diwiddie and go over Ordinance No. 571 and if it needed to be revised or amended to do so. Mr Proctor Johnson appeared before the Council and asked that the Roark transportation Co. Ibe give privatepprking spates in frontof his place of business on N.College Ave.in the Leighton Building.A motion was made by gihderman ?'ages that the Roark Transportayion Co. he given 45 feet in front of the Leighton Building on North College Avenue as a private parking pl.ace,� This was seconded by Alderman Stanford. Upon the question being put before the Council.,i_t received their unaminous vote and was so declared by the tlayor.. Ohl ITTIIE: Alderman Wages reported that the Street Committee had inspected the place for erection of a private curb pump by Mr.Frank Rieff on Scott Street and that they would i recommend if this permit was granted that he put it at least 45 or 50 feet from West Street on Scott Street.At this point Alderman Pearson sppke up and said that iv;r.Rieff did not desirel 602 VI ILL OW to erect any curb pump as he had changed his mind. Mr Wages also reported that the street c had also looked into the matter of putting in a culvert on Campbell. Street and as it would a'good deal of Grading both ways from the culvert, exclusive of the cost of the culvert and 4s traffic was not very much on Campbell Street that they would recommend that this culvert be not put in but left as it now stands. a E: The Pdayor statddthat as'the' Council had an-unplea5ent duty to perform in the Collection illow Avenue Improvement District note and as there was a great deal of controversy over th legality of the note,and'as the City attorney represented the City and as a dissention migh rise if he should declare the note collectable and in order to be fair to all concerned th e thought a g@Mp5WM attorney'should be selected to co-operate with the City Attorney in studying the legality R collectability of this note,whereupon Alderman Wages made the follo motion. That the'Idayor appoint a'coranittee of three to act#with the City Attorney in select n attorney to Co-operate withe the City attorney in the matter of going into the legality & ollectability of the $6,500.00 not given the -City for borrowed money and that the expense o he hireing the attorney to assist the City attorney mast not exceed the sum of $ploo.00, mittee quire 1 the ing s seconded the motion.Upon the question being put before the Council it received e following vote.Ayes Barr,Bynum,Pearson,Sanders,Scott,iJtanford,Flages.Nays.Alderman.Harding he Iviayor declared the motion as carried and appointed the following committee to co-operate ith the City Attorney *Alderman Scott,Barr,& Bynum. Dam Petetion: A petetion presented by A.l'1.Towne,J.A.Peterson,S.H.Blackmer,To11 Ladd in regard to the erected by the City was upon a motion by Alderman !Mages bbft it be referred to the Fire ''eater Committee for 'their consideration and report upon the same at their convenience. This was seconded by Alderman Sanders.Upon the question being put,it received the unaminous vote of the Council and was so declared by the Iviayor. Barr made a motion that the Council adjourn.This was seconded by Alderman Pearson. Upon the question being put;it carried unaminously and the Council was declared adjourned by the Iviayor.
