City Attorney V.James Ptak,City Engineer E,I,.Ratliff, t Chief of Police ileal Cruse,Alderman Barr, Bynum,Harding,Pearson, Sanders, Scott, Stanford, Wages. Minutes:I,Iinutes of regular meeting of July 20th were read.The %ayor announced that after investigatiIon and deep consideration that he was wrong in his decision on the passage of the motion to reconsider the proposition of granting a permit for a filling station to be erected by the Magnolia Petroleum Co. at the Corner of South School and Test Mountain streets on Northwest' corner of said streets,and that his decision was now that the motion was carried.and ready j for consideration of the Council when the saxw fit to do so.Lawyer Hurst made a protest on behalf of the 27 signers of said protest ,in the Mayor making a change in his decision as rendered on July 20th at regular meeting of the Council.Alderman Tages made a motion that or corrected the minutes asamendedioy the Mayor be accepted.A-lderman Sanders seconded the motion.On the I question being put to -the Council it passed unaminously. The Mayor sp-declaredithe minutes correct as read and amended. Bills: The following bills were presented to the -Council after proper approval of the Chairman i of the %ft Committee Alderman Scott.A motion was made by Alderman Wages that the bills be allowed and the Clerk instructed to draw warrants upon the proper fund for the payment of the same.This motion was seconded bk Alderman Stanford. Upon the question being put to a vote of the Council,it carried unaminously and was so declared by the Iviayor.Bills as follows, Lewis Bros Hdw.Co.$9.15,Ben Porter $18.75,Bossemeyer & McBride $9.90,Thomas & Son $10.00, jar .J.Strain $2.50, Shumate & Wil.liams $30.00,Allen Strain $2.50,Bill Long$2.50,Bill Elkins$3.76, 7I.E.Gregg $2.50,Tom Car son$5. 00, John Zillah$2.50. Reports;lReport of the street sweeper showed 200 blocks of paved streets cleaned in the past week. A motion was made that the report be accepted and the clerk ordered to file the same in its proper manner. I Bond Ark nsas Gas Co. City Attorney V.James Ptak asked that a resolution or motion be made that the Arkansas Gas Co. be allowed to beoMieved of the bond given according to Section 10 of I Ordinance No.703 to the IAIaryland Causal 11),o.A•motion was made to that effect by Alderman Pearson,seconded by Alderman Bynum that the Arkansas Gas Co be Jlelieved of this bond. Upon the question being puy before the Council,it carried unaminously and was so declared by the Mayor. Filling Station i,7agnolia Petroleum Co. Alderman Wages made a motion that a permit be granted to the Magnolia Petroleum Co, to erect a filling st&tInn on the north ;rest corner of South School Street and i':est Mountain street.This motion was seconded by Alderman Sanders.Lawyer Hurst argured oys-behalf of the protestors. Lawyer Greenhaw argured in behalf of the Magnolia Petroleum Co.The Council then discussed the motion both pro & Con. The Mayor then put the i !motion before the Couhcil with the following vote resulting.Ayes.Alderman Barr,Ilarding,Sanders Stanford,& !.Iages.Nays.Alderman Pearson & Scott,Present and not voting Alderman Bynum,Absehtl and not voting None.The Mayor declared the permit as granteda s the vote stood 5 ayes,& I 2 nays. i AL.T.rent: was present and asked that the city work two short streets north of City Park addition. Alderman mages made a motion that this matter be looked into by the street committe and that they report their findings back to the Council on Monday August 301931.Alderman Sanders second I ed the motion. Upon the question being put before the Council it carried unaminously by the Alderman Bynum.This motion carried unaminously and the mayor declared the council adjourned. Attest: Approved: City Clerk.
