Joe Campbell appeared before the Council and asked -for a permit to install a curb pump in front of the store of R.J.Jef.fery on:Nobth Leverette Street.A Motion by Alderman Pearson, seconded by Alderman Stanford that this permit be granted.Upon the question being put it Unaminously. The Mayor declared the permit Granted. A Motion By Alderman Pearson,seconded by Alderman Vlages that the Council adjourn until S.p Wednesday July 15,1931 when bhe Council would meet to hexer the protest against the erection of a filling station on the Corner of School & Iiiountain Streebb. PRESENT: Mayor T.S.Tribble.,City Clerk 17m.F.Dunn,City Attorney V.James Ptak,City Engineer E.N.Ratlif Chief of Police Neal Cruse and Alderman Barr,Harding,Fearson,Sanders,Scott,Stanford & Wages The purose of this adjourned seesion of the City Couhcil was for the purpose of hearing the protest against the erection of a filling station on part of the undivided block 23 of the original plat of Fayetteville,Arkansas .Being the N.T.corner of !'lest Mountain and South Sch Streets.Notices of permit were printed in Fayetteville Democrat on June 30 & July 7,1931. 1 and protest was filed with the building inspector Jas/Dinwiddie on July 10,1931 signed by 2 protestors. The Protestors were represented by Lawyer G.A.Hurst and the IJagnolia Pbtroleum Co, was represented by their lawyer Mr.Cochran. Both presented their side of the question.Several the protestors were heard. The Council thevtdiscussed the question both pro & con. and motion was made by Alderman Pearson,seconded by Alderman Scott that the City Council of Fayetteville,Arkansas. defer any action in regard to granting the permit as asked for by Magnolia Petroleum Co. until after the action of the Chancery Court on the,matter now pend regard to this filling station be passed upon.Upon the question being put the following resulted.Ayes Barr,Harding,Pearson,Scott,Stanford.Nayes.Sanders & Wages.Absent and not vot Alderman Bynum. The Ieiayor declared the motion as carried as the Vote stood Ayes5 Nays2. 'Alderman Pearson then made a motion to adjourn.Alderman Sanders seconded the motion.
