I of The street cleaner Shumate & Williams reported 178 blocks of paved streets as cleaned &4 blocks i flushed.The monthly reports of City Purchasing Agent,City C1erk,City Collector,Police Judg Chief of Fire Department for the month of June were read.A motion by Alderman Bynum,secon by Alderman Harding that the reports be accepted as read and the Clerk file them in the pro manner.Upon the motion being put before the Council,it carried unaminously and was so order by the Mayor, I NETTLES IP: Mr.Lafe Nettleship made a request introduced by Alderman Bynum asking that the privilig tax on lwlholesale GroceryBrokers be reduced temporily from 025.00 to 010.00 with th-e unders that this action does not change,alter or modify the present ordinance.After discussion bot 1pro & con. a motion was made by Alderman Pearson,seconded by Alderman Bynum that Mr. Nettle jpay only one half years liscense at this time and on or before Jan.lst.1932.that the Ordina would investigate the adviseability as to reducing Mr.Nettleships privildge tax and all oth privildge taxes as they now exist upon the ordinance book. Paris Green: A request was made by Paris Green to cut the curb in front of his new building on East II+Iountain Street. A motion by Alderman Harding,seconded by Alderman Sanders that this be I M ing ip allowed under the supervision of the City Engineer.Upon the motion being put,it carried.unattjinously. i Ave. A request from the residents of Buchanan Avenue that the city cut this street to side Ialk grade and that they had,y100.00 on hand to help pay for the work.It was also sta.ed that Iir.jim McIlroy had 050.00, and the Mayor estimated that this work would cost about 0200.00 and as a result a motion was made by Alderman Pearson,seconded by Sanders that the City allow or s as their part of expense a sum not to exceed 050.00.Upon the question being put,it carried unaminously. GEO.APP1EBY: appeared before the City Council and asked some relief from parked cars on Meadow str between College Avenue and 'East Sbreet and suggested as this street was narrow that the car I i be allowed to park on one side of this street as desinated. A motion was made by Alderman Harding,seconded by Alderman Sanders that the City attorney draw up and ordinance allowing cars to park on the North sidd of Meadow Street between College Avenue and East Street. Upon the question being put,it carried unaminously and was so ordered. PROTEST against the filling station to be erected on corner of Mountain e: School Street was read an City Clerk upon mutal agreement by both parties was notified to notify all sighners of prot that the Council would hold a special meeting on V-1ednesday night July 15,1931 at 8 P.M..for the purpose of holding a hearing on this question. 9t 591 ORDIIdANgE 110.737. was introduced by Alderman Pearson to be entitled"An ordinance to amend Sections Four of Ordinance No.639,passed and approved on the lst Day of November 1926,and. Section Two of Ordinance No.708.passed and approved on Julylst,1929. The ordinance was read the first, time/A motion was then made by Alderman Harding,seconded by Alderman Sanders that the I rules be suspended and the ordinance be put on its second readingaUpon the question being put the following vote resulted.Ayes Alderman Barr,Bynum,Harding,Pearson,Sanders,Scott,Stanfc & 17ages.Nays.None Absent and not voting None. AN ORDINANCE TO BE ENTITLED"AN ORDINANCE TO AI,iEND SECTIONS FOUR OF ORDINANCE N0.639,PASSEDI I ,AND APPROVED ON THE 1st DAY OF NOV124BER 1.9262AND SECTION TWO OF ORDINANCE NO.708,PASSED AiiD APPROVED ON JULY 1ST,1929". i BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYE'TTEVILLE,ARKANSAS: SECTION ONE. That the Sections Four.of Ordinance No.639,passed and approved November 1st, 1926 and Section Two of Ordinance No.708,passed and approved July lst,1929,which sections pertain to the fine and punishment for violations of said Ordinances,be and the same hereby) amended to read as follows: I SECTION T170. Any person,persons,partnership,firm,or corporation violating any of the provitl provisions of the two above mentioned Ordinances shall be dFemed guilty of a misdemeanor, I and upon conviction thereof in Police Court shall be fined in any sum not -less the One nor more than Twenty-five Dollars for each offense. SECTION THREE:That this ordinance shall he deemed cumulative to all traffic and parking laws or ordinances,and shall repeal only such parts of same as may be in direct conflictherewith and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage,approval,& publication. ORDIYANCE NO.736.which was amended and left on its second reading on -June 22,1931 was brought before, the Council by a motion the Ordinance be p&aded upon its third reading for final vote and passage.The ordinan was read the third time and upon a vote being taken thn following vote (.resulted Ayes Alderman Barr, Bynum, Harding, ietQmp±er, Sanders, Scott, Stanford,& juges. Nays . I ' Absent & not voting None. The mayor declared the Ordinance as passed and its publication ordered. . ORDINANCE NO.736, AN ORDINANCE TO BE ENTITLED."AN ORDINANCE PLACING A LI111IT ON THE TIME A BUILDING PERMIT WILL BE ISSU7D AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES." I BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYF,TTEVILLE,ARKANSAS: SECTION OivE:Hereafter all Permits issued for the construction of buildings as required by the Building Code of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas,shall expire six(6) months after I date of issue,but may be renewed by the building inspector for any structure not completed i within that time,provided the work has been done in compliance with the Code requirements. SECTION T170: Permits issued for business buildings in the residential districts after applications have been advertised as required by Ordinance Numbered 610 and amended by 6 Ordinance Numbered 619,shall not be renewed at the expiration of the six(6) months period but a new new application must be made as if no permit had previously been issued. 592 SECTION THREE: Taht all ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby aepealed,and this ordindnee shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication. Joe Campbell appeared before the Council and asked -for a permit to install a curb pump in front of the store of R.J.Jef.fery on. .-Nobth Leverette Street.A Iriotion by Alderman Pearson, seconded by Alderman Stanford that this permit be granted.Upon the question being put it carried Unaminously. The Mayor declared the permit Granted. A Motion By Alderman Pearson,seconded by Alderman Wages that the Council adjourn until B.p.m. Wednesday July 15,1931 when bhe Council would meet to hear the protest against the erection of a filling station on the Corner of School & Mountain Streebb. ADJOiIRNFD MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF FAYrTTEVILEE,ARKANSAS HELD ON )'WEDNESDAY JULY 15th 1931. Mayor T.S.Tribble.,City Clerk Vlm.F.Dunn,City Attorney V.James Ptak,City Engineer E.M.Ratliff, Chief of Police Neal Cruse and Alderman Barr,Harding,Pearson,Sanders,SCott,Stanford & PWages.l The purose of this adjourned session of the City Couhcil was for the purpose of hearing the t against the erection of a filling station on part of the undivided block 23 of the original plat of Fayetteville,Arkansas .Being the N.l'W.corner of West Mountain and South S Streets*Fotices of permit were printed in Fayetteville Democrat on June 30 & July 7,1931. and protest was filed with the building inspector Jas/Dinwiddie on July 10,1931 signed by protestors. The Protestors were represented by Lawyer G.A.Hurst and the Magnolia Pbtroleum Co. was represented by their lawyer Mr.Cochran. Both presented their side of the question.Several of the protestors were heard. The Council theAdiscussed the question both pro & con, and a motion was made by Alderman Pearson,seconded by Alderman Scott that the City Council of Fayetteville,Arkansas. defer any action in regard to granting the permit as asked for by the Magnolia Petroleum Co. until after the action of the Chancery Court on the.matter now pendinlg) in regard to this filling station be passed upon.Upon the question being put the following vote resulted.Ayes Barr,Harding,Pearson,Scott,Stanford.Fayes.Sanders & Wages.Absent and not votlnllg NAlderman Bynum. The I+Iayor declared the motion as carried as the Vote stood Ayes5 Nays2. .'Alderman Pearson then made a motion to adjourn.Alderman Sanders seconded the motion.
