I MINUTE'S of the regular meeting of June 28bh,1931 were read and approved with the correction in regard Ito ordinance introduced in regard to extending the fire zone which should have read and left to the investigation and recommendations of the Ordinance Committee. BILLS: The following bills were presented after proper endorsemenja of the Chairman of the Auditing j Committe Alderman Scott and was upon motion by Alderman Vlages,seconded by Alderman Sanders that the bills be allowed and City Clerk draw warrants for the payment of same under the proper funds,Upon the question being put the motion carried unaminously and was declared 1 so ordered by the Mayor.Bills as follows:Otis Parker $5.10,Bob Phillips $36.00,Ben Porter % 8.75,Shumate & Williams $30.00,E.VI.Shuford $5.50,Arkansas Western Gas Co $72.50,H.B.Paisleyl $15.00,Sam Little $15.00. REPORTS:The street cleaners Shumate & Williams reported 168 blocks of city paved streets cleaned and:, 6 blocks flushed.Upon motion this report was ordered accepted and ordered filed.The question being put it carried unaminously and was so ordered. OLD AIRPgHT: The Clerk reported that the City would have a proposition in a few day ��to lease the old Airport for a night golf driving course whereupon Alderman Scott,seconded by Alderman Harding made the following motion. That the Mayor T.S.Tribble and City Clerk V1m.F.Dunn be giveWauthority to sign and make the best lease possible on the old airport for a night golf driving course. Upon the question being put the motion carried unaminously and was so , declared by the Mayor. POLES: ' City Clerk reported and read report from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. that they had within the city limits of Fayetteville,Arkansas on the 30th day of June 1931.997 poles upon which they paid pole tax. The report from the Southwestern Gas & Electric Co.reported, that they had within the city limits of Fayetteville,Arkansas.1047 poles upon which they by Alderman paid pole tax. A motion was made and-seeended Pearson and seconded by Alderman Stanford that these reports be accepted and filed by the City Clerk. Upon the question being put,it, carried unaminously and was declared so ordered by the Mayor. J.S.BATES requested the right to cut & lower the grade on side walk to his building on North V?est Street which is now used as a Garage. A motion was made by Alderman Pearson,seconded by Alderman Sanders that this permit be granted under the supervision of the City Engineer E.Ia Ratliff.Upon the question being put it carried unaminously and was so ordered by the Mayor, ORDINAIdC : Alderman Wages chairman of the Ordinance committee reported that after the introduction i of an ordinance on June 22rd in regard to changing the fire zone and as this ordinance was left on its second reading and�a motion was made a nd passede that the ordinance be left 588 investigation and recommendation of the ordinance committee tr^ e after a meeting of this committee that he.Alderman )gages introduced the following ordinance;AAn ordinance to be entitled:"An ordinance changeing the boundries of the fire zones of the city of Fayetteville, ' Arkansas,and providing additional requirements for the construction.and repairs of certain buildings. in the 'fire zones and intermediate Zone.. This ordinance was read the first time.. A motion was made by Alderman Pearson seconded by Alderman Sanders that the rules be suspenc}ed and tha ordinance be placed upon its second reading.Upon the question being put it received) the following vote Ayes:Barr,Bynum,Harding,Pearson,Sanders,Scott,Stanford,& 1?ages.Nays:Nonel Absent and not voting None: The motion was declared as passed by the Mayor and the ordinance, Was read the second time. After the second reading the City Clerk read a protest of 69 property holders within the district as proposed under the fire zone ordinance as was proposed on Jund 22rd,1931.After much discussion both pro and con by Attorney Abner Hurst representing the property holders in this district and the members of the City council.This ordinance was left on its second reading and property owners were informedbythe lfiayor that this ordinance qould come up for it third reading and final disposal on Noonday July 6,1931 and were invited to be present. kIRPORT: Upon a resolution fron the Airport Coymnitbbe of the Chamber of Commerce urging the City Coincil to take some definate steps in regard to disposition of leaseing the rights of a filling station at the airport to the Gulf Refining Co. as no other major oil company I had made a proposition.A motion was made by Alderman Pearson seconded by Alderman Sanders that the Mayor,City Clerk.City Attorney,and Aviation Committee of the Chamber of Commerce now functioning be givenauti;ori•ty to make lease with Gulg Refining Co.A?Jpon the question being put this motion carried unaminously and was declared so ordered by the 11tayer.
