Bills; The. -following bills against the city were read after proper approval of the finance committee,allowed and Clerk ordered to draw vouchers upon the proper funds for their paymenti, Southwestern Gas & Electric Co.,$520.00,Independent Oil & Gas Co. $1.75,0tis Parker $2.00, j f Shuford $5.50pJ*W.Shelley w42.50,Lottie Tollett $22.50,Be n Porter $18.75,H.C.Palmer I $$30.00. Reports; The report of J.17.Shelley street cleaner showed 205 blocks of streets cleaned during the iweek of Mayllth.The report was accepted and ordered filed. Contract; The contract as ordered drawn up between the City of Fayetteville and the City Vater Plant that ,was presented,read,and upon a motion by Alderman Pearson seconddd by Alderman Wages that the•,contract be accepted and the Mayor authorized tb sign the same and Clerk file same in proper manner. Contract. WHEREAS,the City of Fayetteville did on or about the first day of May 1931,1ease from A.P. Eason a part of the first floor of the old First National Bank Building,now called the Eason Building;and, WHERRAS,it *as('agreddobyiand'.:between the said City of Fayetteville and the City Water Plant that this building should be occupied jointly between the city officials and offices and ;officials of the City "later Plant,and `IIiEREAS,it is deemed adviseable that a written agreement be had with regard to the division and payment of the rentals to A.P.Eason under the above referred to lease in order that it 'might be of record for any future managers of the City Mater Elant or officials of the city I I of Feyetteville,Ahkansas., Now Therefore,this contract and agreement made and entered into by and between the City of jFayetteville,Arkansas,through its duly authorized Officers,and the Board. of Managers of the City "later Plant of the City b'ftEayet,tetcille,Arkansas,through its Superintendent,under authority conferred upon him by the said Board of Managers of City 'later Plant of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas,at a meeting held on Mlay,9th,1931. 1. It is mutually understood and agreed by and between the parties hereto that the space leased from A.P.Eason by the City of Fayetteville under lease da"ed APRIL 25th,1.931,which lies south of the north wall of vault,shall be occupied and used as the offices of the City tinter Plant and City Collector.These offices to be operated and maintained under the terms of the lease above referred to by the Managers of the City 1idater Plant of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas,but is destinctly understood and agreed th4t the City Water Plant Collection Office shall also be the City Collectoris office at all times and all equipment and office space shall be common to the two offices. 2. It is understood and agreed the the City Vlater Plant will have control of the above referred to space and if it should become. practicable or desireable the Water Board have the right under the terms of this agreement to sublet a part of space under their control,sub•je< however, to the conditions of the lease between the City of Fayetteville and A.P.Eason,and that all of the rentals received therefrom shall become fundsof the City !"later Plant. Fob and in consideration of the% above agreement of the City Water Plant agrees to pay Sixty-two &50/100 ($62.50) per month for their proportionate part of the rent which is due and payable to the lessor(A.P.Eason) under the terms of his lease to the City of Fayettevil14 (This payment shalll be made in cash,or equivilent,to A.P.Eason each month in advance,and it I is understood that the said A.P.Eason will give the City of Fayetteville,Ark credit for this 578 Petet the currant used bt the 8ity of Fayetteville and City Water Plant and that if there be any in connection with arrangeing for such meters,the same shall be borne equally by the City Water Plant and the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas. The City Water Plant and the City of Fayetteville through their duly authorized agents f bind themselves,their successors or assigns to the full performance of the clenants herein contained. City* Water Plant Board of Managers of City Water Plant By.E.M.Ratliff,Supt. . The petetion of F.H.Carl that a representative be appointed for the purpose of establ a boundry line of Baxter Street was upon motion left to the Street Committee and City Engineer E.M.Ratliff. The petetion of P.R.Green to install three gasoline pumps on East Mountain Street in front of a building being erected was upon a motion by Alderman Bynum Seconded by Alderman Sander; granted subject to the new ordinance being prepared and same to be done under the supervise of City Engineer E.Iv1.Ratliff. Mr.T.A.Matthews appeared before the council in regard to installing a tile drainage was discueed and -the Mayor asked the Street Committee with City Engineer E.h1.Ratliff to look thi matter over and report to the Council next week. J.VI.Campbell appeared. before the council and asked permission to cut the curb in front of hi store on Mission & Gunter Streets and Upon Motion by Alderman Scott and Aeconded by Alderma Pearson that this petetion be granted under the supervision of City Engineer E,M.Ratliff. Upon question being put this carried unaminously. Grundy & Strong asked permission to drive across sidewalks to their concession on School & Mountain Streets.Alderman Bynum,seconded By Alderman Pearson moved that this request be gray the Question being put it carried unaminously. Baxter Miles angered before the Council in regard to liscense on Golf Course and Basball ine.He was told to pay his Golf Course liscense at once but was giveountil July lst,1931 ,otry out his baseball machine and if it did not pay,he was priviliged to take'same out but it remained until July lst,1931.he would have to pay required liscense. Under discussion in regard to sidewalks on Maple Street it was .found that these walks hac previously ordered in but had not been done and astd on on same was defferred for a week. Mayor T.S. Tribble reported that Wall street was now gravelled from end of State highway to nd of Pevement at a cost of about $125.00. He als asked permissin to gavel the Huntsville read and same was duly authorized. City Engineer appeared before the Council and informed the Council that his contract as Citi ineer had expired and offered himself for re-electaon.A motion was made by Alderman Bynum, seconded by Alderman Wages that the City re-elect MR.E.M.Ratliff as City Engineer under the same terms as the former contract. Upon thw question being put put before the Council,it carried unaminously. Upon bringing up the question in regard to the letting contract for street cleaning.a moti I was made by Alderman Scott,seconded by Alderman Harding thattheygo into executive session. Upon the Question being put,it received the following Ayes.Barr,Bynum,Harding,Pearson,Sand Scott,Stanford Nays.VJages. The Mayor declared the Council in Executive Session. Alderman Sanders made a motion that the Bid of Mr.A.F.Shumate be accepted. This was seconded by an Bynuyp.Mpon the question being put the following result was noted.Ayes Alderman Barr, ense :ed J amount under the terms or the lease. May 4th,1931, To The Mayor & City Council of Fayetteville,Arkansas. My bid on cleaning & sweeping & fluskng the streets of Fayetteville is $30.00 per week.
