I iDunn,being out of the city on account of death in �amily,City Attorney V.James Ptak was appointed Acting City Clerk. MINUTES:' Minutes of the regular meeting of the City Council as held on May 4th,1931 were read and approved.. BILLS. The bills as presented and approved by chairman of Finiance Committee weae read,allowed, and Clerk ordered to issue warrants for their respective amounts.The bills were as follow Southwaestern Tel.&Te1.Co.$33.30Fayetteville Daily Democrat$4.84,Magnolia Petroleum Co. $14.70,Ferguson Lbr.Co.,$3.50,Ben Porter $18.75,Lottie Tollett $6.00.W.E.Diven $2.50, John Zillah $25.00,Thomas & Son $2.20,J.W.Shelley $42.50,Lewis Bros Hdw.Co.$54.30, Committee J.W.Shelley reported 200 blocks of city streets cleaned during the week of May 4th, Reports. Upon motion this repobt was accepted and ordered filed. The Committee composed of Aldermen Pearson,Scott,&. Barr to confer with the city water board in regard to rents and division of rents made the following report.Alderman Pearson made the report as follows:It was agreed that the City and Water plant share equally the rent of the Eason building.The rent being $125.00 per month.City paying 08RJ40 $62.50 per month & Water Plant paying $62.50 per Month. City to receive revenue from rented space in rear part of building as occupied by City offices and Water Plant to receive revenue of rents from part of building as occupied by Water P1ant.City Engineer E.M.Ratliff was instruceted to draw up this agreement between the City and Water Plant and same to be read,adopted,and filed with City Clerk for future reference in case any question might arise in the future.The Statement as filed by City Clerk for back rent due was left with Water Plant for Further consideration.A motion was made that the report of Committee be accepted and same discharged.Upon the question being put.It carried Unaminea4y'� Ordinance: Alderman Stanford introduced and moved passage of Ordinance 1ta-.r: To regulate the Do 735. installation,maintainance,and operation of Gasoline curb pumps within the corporate limits of the City of Fayetteville.Arkansas.The ordinance was read and upon a motionby Alderman Stan.ford,seconded by Alderman Pearson that the rules be suspended and the ordinsa The placed upon its second reading.This motion carried unaminously.After its second reading a motion was made that the Ordinance be put on the calander and lay on tha table for its ,third reading.Upon the question being put this motion carried unaminously. ORDINANCE N0.735. An ordinance to regulate the installation,maintainance,& operation of gasoline curb pumps within the corporate limits of the city of Fayettevill,Arkansas. Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas: Section l;It shall be unlawful for any person,firm,or corporation,to install,maintain,or operate any gasoline curb pump within the corporate limits of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,without first having obtained a written permit in writeing to be issued by City Clerk after the City Council has approved of such curb pump or pumps and consented to its installation and operation,it being solely within the discretion of the City Council whether such permit shall issue or not. i Section 2; Furthermore,that a liscense shall be issued and collected as all other 1--if§04re liscenses due the City,for the privilige of such installation,maintaining or operating (such curb pump or pumps,and the liscense fee shall be $ per pump,per Section 3;Any person,Firm,or corporation violating this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall upon conviction be fined in any sum not less than $5.00 nor more than$25.00,and each day shall constitute a seperate offense. Passed and approved this Day of 1931. Approved; Attest;- . City Clerk. Mayor. Aderman Wages read a garbage ordinance as proposed by a Mr.Sneed but same got no further reading. S: A motion was made by Alderman Scott,seconded by Alderman Stanford that the city purchase the VIaste Cans now owned by Mrs.Hvizdalek for the sum of $5.00 each.and that the same be sed through the Mayor as Purchasing Agent. Upon the question being put it carried. inously, motion by Alderman Pages and seconded by Alderman Scott that the Council go in to executiv ssion to consider bids on street cleaning. Upon the question being put it carried unaminou motion by Alderman Pearson seconded by Alderman Harding that a secret ballot be held.Upon ion being put this carried unaminously. Upon ballot the result was as follows:Delozier 3 Shelley lley 4,Seamster 1. Upon second ballot the result was Delozier 4 She:hl6Mr 4.A motion was made by Alderman Bynum seconded by Alderman Stanford that the Council vote on the whole This motion -was unaminously carried, list again.The Vote was as follows;Shelley 4,Shumate 3,Delozier 1. Upon the seondd. revote it stood Shelley 4 Shumate 4.A motion was made by Alderman Flages seconded by Alderman Hardi that that the voting be put off until next regular meeting of the City Council and that the elayor as ex -officio member appoint a committee of three to investigate the qualifications :)f Mr.Shelley & Shumate and report at next regular meeting of Council. Upon the question being put it carried unaminously.The Mayor then appointed the following Committee.Aldermen 3arr,Sanders,& Stanford. A motion by Alderman Scott,seconded by Alderman Harding that the council ad,journ.Upon t}ie question being put it carried unaminously and it was so declared by the Mayor.
