REPORTS: IThe weekly report of the Street Cleaner showing 183 blocks cleaned during the week,and the nthly reports of the Purchasing Agent, The City Collector, City Clerk, Police Judge and the Fire Chief were presented and on mobion were ordered received and filed. iCLOCK The Mayor reported that he had been unable to secure any information concerning, the LIGHT: lighting of the Town Clock according to the suggested plan of Alderman Harding which would seem to he practUcal;but that electricians rather thought lighting by means of flood light on some near -by building the better way. Additional time was given for further investigation of the matter. TDV7 Rq,AW S A communication from Building Inspector James Dinwiddie informed the Council of the RUILDING:j Croposed construction by Mr D.W.Read,of a building,and remodelling of an old one ad.jacent,on North hest Street,and requested action by the Council as to the grantingisfror of a permit for! the same. After investigation and discussion of the matter by the Council, Alderman Harding moved that the Building Inspector be authorized to issue such permit. ORDI At the request of University authorities, for a conference on the proposed Ordinance I i for the protection of university property, Alderman Wages moved that the City Attorney,and the Ordinance Committee be authorized and requested. to hold sdlch conference. This motion was duly passed. J.M.PHILLIPS: The resigation of J.M.Phillips as a member of the Board of Improvement of Wall Street :SIGNS: Improvement District Number One of the City of F,yyetteville,Arkansas was presented and on mo- tion by Alderman Scott, seconded by Alderman Pearson,passed by the unanimous vote of the Coun7 oil, was-raopt-0dsr accepted,and so declared by the Mayor. CUT CURB: A request for permission to cut the curb and reconstruct the driveway at the J.V1.McCon riell Place of ]Lafayette Avenue was granted,sub,ject to supervision by the City Engineer. 1 M�ATHIS Mr Mathis appeared before the Council with a request for relief in the matter of drain' GUTTER RFi' I j �j.UEST: age at his store on Garland Avenue,and after some discussion concerning the matter Alderman I son moved that the matter be referred to the City Engineer for a report as to the manner cost of the needed construction, This motion was seconded by Alderman Harding and passed the unanimous vote of the Council.
