and approved.
THE
FOLLOWING
BILLS
against
the City,properly approved,were
allowed and ordered raid and the Clerk was
directed to issue warrants for the same on motion by Alderman Harding,seconded by Alderman
Scott,passed by the unanimous vote of the members present and so declared by the Mayor;-

REPORT: The Street Cleaner filed his report showing 150 blocks cleaned during the weelf.which report
was ordered received and filed by motion duly passed,
PRES. A communication from President Futral of the University was presented.
FUTRAL
Accompanying this communication was a proposed ordinance pertaining to protection of the
premises of the State University,which was read to the Council for their information.
On motion by Alderman Scott,seconded by Alderman Pearson and duly passed,the said
ordinance was referred to the City Attorney and the Ordinance Committee for investigation
and report.
GARBAGE: Mr. Geo A. Hurst,on behalf og Sam Jones,presented the matter of garbage removal
and sanitation,and requested that the Council designate a committee to fonfer with himself
in an effort to prepare a plan for handling the matter. Alderman Harding moved that the
Mayor be authorized to appoint a committee to consider the proposition in co-laboration wit
the City Attorney and Mr Hurst. This mation was duly seconded and passed. Whereupon the Mayo
appointed'as such Committee Aldarmen Scott and Fuller.
SCHOOL Mr. Bert Lewis,Pres. and Mr Jerome Reynolds,Sec'y of the School Board presented a
BOARD, PROP.:
proposition concerning the proposed improvements on Highland Avenue adjoining the grounds
of the Washington School. The Matter was discussed at some length,but no action was had.
J1" CAMPBELL, Tir J.17.Campbell requested that the street garde on Locust at the Southeast corner

of Block 24 be established and that he be granted permission to cut the curb on the North
side of l'lest Mountain Street at said corner for the purpose of building a driveway into
a filling station.. On motion by Alderman Pearson, seconded by Alderman Fuller and duly
passed,the City engineer was di rected to establish said grade, and permission was Riven to

cut the curb as requestedmunder the supervision of the City Engineer,
GAS FOR The proposition of the Arkansas Western Gas Company to furnish gas for heating the
FIRE
HOUSE:Fire House was referred to the Fire Committee and the Mayor,with power to act. This action
was had on motion by Alderman Pearson, seconded by Aldorman Fuller, passed by the unanimous
vote of the members present and so declared by the Mayor.
AUDIT: Alderman Harding moved that the Clerk be directed to advertise for bids from Certi
fied Accountants,to audit the books of the City, This motion was seconded by Ald.�rman Bynum
and received the tUlanAl-mi The following vote;ayes Aldermen Bynum, Fuller, Harding Scott,
Stanford, Stephens; nays .Alderman Pearson; absent and not voting Alderman Wages, and was
declared passed by the Mayor.
No further business appearing the Council adjourned on motion.
