REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OFTHECITY OF

THE MINiTES of the meeting .of July 21, 1930 were read and approved.
THE FOLLOWING BILLS against the City,properly approved, were allowed and ordered paid and the Clerk
;was directed to issue warrants for the same on motion by Alderman Pearson,seconded by Ald.er-
man Bynum, passed by the unanimous vote of the Council.and so declared by the Mayor;-
Inland.Pitinting Company y$25.01;J.W.Shelly $42.50; A.B.Upton $1.50;Ben Porter $18.75 and
,x$1.25; J.C.Massie $100.00;The Blairs $4.00.
Street Cleanee's Report showing 202 Blocks cleaned during the week was presented,and ordered filed.

Gentlemen; I
We, the Board of Public Affairs of the City of Fayetteville,,
Arkansas,find that there is urgent need to purchase 1,000 feet of 21 inch Fire Hose,300 feet)
of 1? inch Firs Hose, 300 feet of i inch Chemical Hose and a section of Suction hose.
Our estimate of the cost of this hose is the sum of d$1,500.00.
Se,therefore ^espectfully request ,your Honorable Body to pass the Ordinance herewith
submitted authorizing the said Board of Public Affairs to advertise for bids,and to award a
contract for the purchase of said hose,as set out herein,
at an expendature not to xcee $1,.500.00. Respectfully submitted;

Alderman Scott moved that the Rules be
suspended
and the Ordinance palced on
its second
reading.Alderman Fuller seconded the motion
which
received the following vote;

Stephens, Wages, nays none;
and was declared
,passed by the Mayor. The ordinance was read the second time.
Alderman Scott then moved that the

Rules be further suspended and the Ordinance placed on its third reading and final passage.
(Alderman Harding seconded this motion which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum,
Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Scott, Stanford, Stephens, Viages; nays none, and was declared passed
by the Mayor. The Ordinance was read the third time. The Mayrr then announced the question
before the Council is shall the Ordinance pass, and called for the vote on its passage, which
resulted as follows; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Fuller, Harding, Pearson, Scott, Stanford, Stephens

That the Board of Public Affairs of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas be, and they are
'hereby authorized and directed to advertise for 909-1-9t bids and to award a contract for the i
,purchase of 100 feet of 21 inch Fire Hose,300 feet of 12 inch Fire Hose, 300 feet of 1 inch
,Chemical Hose and a section of Suction. Hose.
SECTION TVIO:
That said advertisement shall state that the cost of said hose shall not excedd the sum
Iof $1,500.00.
SECTION'THREE:
That this ordinance s4all take effect and be in force from and after its passage,appro
ival and publication.

It was informally.decided to.place a Traffic line ,centrally located,around the
at the intersection of East Rock Street and Mill Avenue, extending therefrom along each of
said streets.
The Clerk reported having issued the annual notices to Commissioners of Improvement
Districts as to making new assessments and their annual reports.
At the rqquest of W.S.Duggans, permission was granted to open South College Avenue
the purpose of making sewer connection for the Jefferson School Building,subject to super-
vision of the City Engineer,
Allen Mayfield made application for permit to install a curb gasoline pump on Rest Center
Street at Block 26. Action on this application was deferred.till next meeting of the Council.
The City Engineer reported in the matter of drainage for the Varsity Shop,that said
drainage could best be cared for by placing about 40 feet of pipe in the culvert,which rep
was accepted by the Council.

The Clerk called attention to the fact that the Street Fund is still indebted to the Gen-
ral Fund in the sum of $3,495.12,whereupon it was ordered that the City Clerk be and is
.irected to transfer from the Street Fund to the General Fund said sum of $3,495.12,which
(see paa 434 of this record)
with the sum of93,654.8frepats the sum of $7,150.00 used in the redemption of Street warrants
.s shown at pages 710 and 772, Record "1918", said redemption having been made from moneys in
General Fund.
Permission was granted to Walter Duggans to make water connection at the Aumick Build.
,subject to superviaion of the City Engineer.
A petition praying relief from the proposed.location of a Junk Yard at the intersects
Hill and Wall Streets was presented,and after discussion,the City Attorney was directed tc
an ordinance,defining Junk and limiting the location of houses or ,yards used for the
torage of Junk. The Attorney was also directed to revise a proposed ordinance pertaining to
e disposal of rubbish in the Fire Districts.
No further business appearing,the Council
ourned on motion duly passed.
