NG BILLS•against the City,properly approved,were allowed and ordered paid and the Clerk was rected to issue warrants for the same on motion byAlderman Fuller,seconded by Alderman Wage ssed by the unanimous vote of the members present and so declared by the Mayor; n Porter $18.75; J.ti1.Shelly $42.50; A.B.Upton $5.81. The Clerk reported that the advance payment of rent on the rooms in the County Court Househad been absorbed,and was ordered to resume payment of same according to the terms of .e rental contract;also to make payments of the rent on the room in the Wade Building used Police Judge,at $5.00 per month. 'S report showing 180 blocks cleaned during the week was presented and ordered filed. Alderman Pearson introduced an ordinance contracting.with the Young -Bryan Comptnuct . Company for the paving of the intersections of certain streets,which was read the First . Alderman Pearson then moved that the Rules be suspended and the ordinance placed on it cond reading. This motion Was seconded by Aldprman Wages and received the following vote; s Aldermen Bynum, Fuller, Pearson Scott, Stanford, STephens, 1.7ages; nays none; absent and of votin7 Alderman Harding. The Mayor declared the motion passed. The ordinance was read th econd time. Alderman Wages then moved that the Rules be further suspended and the Ordinance d on its third reading and final passage. Alderman Bynum seconded this motion which dived the following vote; Ayes Aldermen Bynum, Fuller, Pearson Scott, Stanford, Stephens, Nays none; Abesnt and not voting Alderman Hurding,and was declared passed by the Ordinance was read the third time. The Mayor then announced the question before the C s shall the Ordinance pass,andcalled for the vote on its passage which resulted as follows; ,yes Aldermen Bynum, Fuller, Pearson, Scott, Stanford, Stephens, Wages; Nays None; Absent an not voting Alderman Harding. AN ORDINANCE TO BE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE CONTRACTING 141ITH YOUNG -BRYAN CONSTRUCTION FORT SMITH,ARKANSAS, TO REPAIR AND MAKE IMPROVE419NTS UPON CERTAIN STRR7TS IN THE CITY OF LE,ARKANSAS,AND TO FURNISH THE NECESSARY MATERIAL.V1ORK AND LABOR FOR THE SAME,AND TO PRO' THE SAID MATERIAL,WORK AND LABOR." BE IT ORDAINED.BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,ARKANSAS: named That repairs and improvements be made upon the followinfstreets in the City of Fayette ille,Ark�sas ,at the places herein named,to-wit; The Intersectidn of St. Charles Street and atson Vuenus; the intersection of Watson Avenue and Thompson Street; the intersection of atson Avenue and Rollston Avenue;the intersection of.,3`Sats6st%:t1t�StrxEFa;d f,gIytyd&3;;'�Cpettt;;<:;;;:; cott Street and Campbell Street and the intersection of Scott Street and North West Avenue. That said improvement shall consist of paving of the intersections of said streets with pavement,and the construction of necessary culverts and drains,to take care of the inage which must pass under the pavement on the paved streets from the adjacent territory ext to said intersection of said streets. The City of Fayetteville,Arkansas, by the City Council of said City hereby contracts ith said Young -Bryan Construction Company of Fort Smith,Arkansas, to do and perform the labor,and furnish the necessary materials for the repair and construction ,as herein set on said streets,and at said intersections of said streets as herein mentioned,said mprovement to be.according to the plans and specifications now on file in the office of the City Engineer of the City of Fayetteville,ArkRnsas. The City of Fayettevilje hereby agrees to pay said Young -Bryan Construction Company for the same the sum of Thirteen Hundred and Fifty ($1,350.00),Dollars, which amount the City Council finds to be a fair and just compaesation for said material furnished,and for said work and labor to be performed in such improvement, I �I and said City of -Fayetteville agrees to p..y said Young -Bryan Construction Company the said sum of Thirteen Hundred and Fifty ($1,350.00) Dollars in the•follbwing manner,to-wit; • IxT Ten (10) equal annual installments,said sum to be paid out of the General Revenue ' I said Fmnds of the/City of Fayetteville by Ten (10) warrants of One Hundred and Thirty-five ($135. (Dollars each,drawn in favob of Young -Bryan Construction Company,or bearer-- said warrants tol be drawn serially so that one of said warrants shall becpme due and payable each ,year after I -date. IT said City of Fayetteville, Arkansas should make default in the payment of any onel of said above mentioned warrants when the same becomes due and payable,the said City of Fay etteville agrees and stipulltes with the owner of said warrant representing the amount of the sum in which the City has defaulted to pay said owner of said warrant, the sum of eight (8)1 per cent interest per annum on said amount of said warrant from the date of such default until the *iam said sum is fully paid,as an agreed and stipulated penalty,and as damages upon the part of said City of Fayetteville,Arkahsas,for its failure to pefform that part of its contract with the said Young -Bryan Construc#ion Vompany,or the owner of said warrant. SrCTION 4. This contract shall be binding upon the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas, from and after .the passage,approval and publicat on of this ordinance,and the said City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,hereby pledges itself,and all of its officers,to the fatbhful performance of this contract as herein set forth,and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force froma and I after its passage,approval and publication. (SECTION 5. The City Clerk of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas,shall be,and he is hereby ordered and directed to issue said above mentioned Ten (10) warrants immediately upon the passage h • and approval of this ordinance. IPOLL*TAX The Clerk called attention to the necessity of presenting..1929 poll.tax receipts in RECEIPTS*, to draw money from the public funds. LICENSE, The need of blank forme for the issuance of City Licenses was called to the attention BLANKS: of the Council,whereupon Alderman Scott moved that the Clerk and the Collector prepare a I general form,and have same printed in sufficient number for the needs of the City.
