motion which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum, Fuller, Harding, Pearsonrp Sco
Stanford, Stephens, Wages, nays None; and was declared passed and the resolution adopted.

District Number 31 of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas,by reason of the resignation of
Sterling Price from said Board;
THEREFORE BE CDT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TH7, CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,ARrANSAS:
SECTION ONE:
That W.E.Ivie,a qualified elector of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas,and an
owner, of real property within the linits of Improvement District Number 31,be,and he is here
appointed to be a member of the Board of Improvement 4 Improvement District Number 31 of
the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas. /
SECTION TWO:
That all resolutions and parts of resolutions in conflict herewith be, and the s
are hereby repealed ,and this resolution shall take effect from and after its passage and
approval.

STREET Bids were received for the work of cleaning, the city streets as follows. -
CLEANER:
Dave Condra$42.50 per week; J.W.Shelly $42.50 per week; Dave Lewis $40.00 per week;and

T.C.Couch $42.00, per week. Alderman Harding moved that the contract be awarded to J.W.Shell
lat$35.00 per week and $7.50 per week for running the sweeper. Alderman Scott
Isecorided the motion which received the unanimous vote of the Council,and was declared passed
by the Mayor.
The Clerk was dmrected to acknomledge receipt of an invitation to attend the Bridge
;celebration at Carthage Mo. on June 4 & 5.

BOWLING Wm.Beavers of Van Buren applied for permit to open a bowling alley,and after some

disxussion,Alderman HaPdIntg moved that the Mayor be authorized to cause such permit to be
.issued for a period of 3 months only,beginning June lst,1930.for a fee of $25.00 per alley.
Alderman Scott seconded the motion which received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Bynum,
Fuller, Pearson, Scott, Stanford, S tephens, Wages; nags Alderman Harding,and was declared
(passe by the Mayor.
COLLECTOR as The Annual Report of City Collector W.S:Campbell was filed whereupon Alderman Pearson'

ANNUAL moved that said report be received and that a vote of appreciation of the efficient service

of Mr. Campbell be entered on the records. This motion was duly seconded and received the
unanimous vote of the Council.
REVISED Alderman Scott introduced a resolution to adopt the revised plat of Blocks 12 and 27
PLAT, BLKS.
12 & 27 IGunter Addition to the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas,and moved its adoption. Alderman Fuller

seconded the motion which received the unanimous vote of the Council. The Mayor declared the

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF FAYFTTEVILLE,ARKANSAS,TO RENT
PARKING SPACF ON THE STREETS OF FAYETTEVILLE TO OWNERS OF PUBLIC CONVEYANCES FOR USE AS
TAXI -CAA STANDS:REQUIRING SUCH OWNERS TO MAINTAIN °STANDS°,AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYFTTFVILLF,ARKANSAS:
SECTION) OI F:
That each and every person,firm or corporation,owning and/or operating any public convey -
\v �lance,taxi-cab or other vehicle for transportation of passengers for hire within the corporate

^\ �t limits of the city of Fayetteville,Arkansas,shall be,and is hereby required to maintain a

"STAND" or plsce of business where such vehicle shall be parked when not in service.
SECT$OM TWO:
That,within ten days after the passage of this ordinance each person,firm or corporation
owning and / or operating such public conveyance shall notify the Chief of Police of the
MVS@4 City of Fayetteville,Arkansas,in writing,of the location of such "STAND".
SECTION' THRT?E,
That the Mayor and the Chief of Police be and they are hereby authoeized to rent to any
person firm or corporation mentioned in Section One hereof, a •gyp , p , pnation of the parking space
\ �`4'7�of the streets of Fayetteville,Arkansas, for use as a taxi -cab "STAND" ,said space.to be
p(� designated and the limits thereof established by the Mayor and the Chief of Police.

The Rental charge shall be T1,7ENTY (20.00) DOLLARS per annum for space sufficient for one
vehicle.
- SECTIW FOUR:
Upon the payment of the rental fee mentioned in Section Three hereof,the Cdty Collector
shall issue a Permit specifying the location of the "STAND" as designated by the Mayor or
/ the Chief of Police.
SFCTIONf,FIVE:
That any person,firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of thiel ordinance
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor,and upon conviction therefor in the police court
(shall pay a fine of not less than $5,00 nor more than $u15.00.

Ito the City of Fayetteville,'PJashington County,Arkansas,as filed in the office of the Circuit)
Clerk and Recorder of Washingtom County,State of Arkansas, on ...........,1930, and duly
recorded at Book .... page ....,which plat shows the numbers and lots and blocks and dimension
of the same, and the location of the streets and alleys as dedicated by the owners of said
property to the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas;be,and the same is hereby accepted by the City
Council of the City of Fayetteville, as a true and official revised plat od said lots and
blocks and its streets and alleys.
And the said City of Fayetteville, hereby accepts the said streets and alleys as laid
off and designated in said plat,and dedicating the smae to the public use of said City by the
said owners, H.E.Jackson, S.J,Watkins,S.J.Campbell, Leo F.Heerwagen, and John W,Diggs who file

Mr Henry Barton presented to the Council a statement as to the impassable condition
f Stone street and requested that some action be taken by the Council;whereupon Alderman
ott moved that the Mayor,City Engineer and the Street Committee uinvestigate the matter and

Alderman Scott moved that the time of holding Council meetings be fixed at 5 O'clo

THE MINUTES of the M&&ting of May 19th, 1930 were read and approved.
BILLS against to City,properly approved,were allowed and ordered paid and the Clerk was
directed to issue warrants for the same on motion by Alderman Harding,seconded by Alderman
Wa#es,passed by the unanimous voice of the Council and so declared by the Mayor;

Ben Porter $18.75;Abshier-Bryan Motor Co, $50.00; J.W.Shelly $42.50;G.F.Puterbaugh $4.79;

Street Cleaner reported 180 blocks cleaned during the week. On motion this report was orde
filed.
City Engineer reported as to work on Stone Street,that it is the opinion of the
committee in charge that a drain pipe should be installed,and the surface of the street
gravelled. On motion by Alderman Fuller,seconded by Alderman Harding and duly passed,the
Street Department was authorized to make the improvements designated by the report.
The report of the County Board of Election Commissioners was presented,wheveupon

Alderman Harding moved that said repoeb be received,filed and spread of record. Alderman
Bynum seconded the motion which received the unanimous vote of the Council.

election heldin the City of Fayetteville.Viashington County,Arkansas,on Tuesday.May-30th,
1930,the following vote was;
"For Bond issue to purchase,develop and improve land for flying field,271 votes.
